The Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game by Ravensburger opens 2026 with more than just a whisper, but with the strength of a raging snowstorm! Just three weeks into the new year, Disney Lorcana has already held a very successful Disney Lorcana Challenge 2,000 player tournament in Richmond, Virginia, a Continental Championship Qualifier tournament (CCQ) in Arizona, and opened its largest public activation ever at Walt Disney World in EPCOT’s Festival of the Arts. They are also releasing new products to the market, and are set to drop their most anticipated sets since Fabled and The First Chapter!
Disney Lorcana: The Story So Far…
Ravensburger’s hit trading card game has been going strong since its launch in 2023 and has steadily gained followers as more sets have been released. If you need a refresher on the game’s mechanics or want to get caught up on coverage of previous sets, look no further:

DLC Richmond: Virginia is for Lorcana
The Disney Lorcana Challenge season, the official tournament circuit that is the main way to qualify for the Continental Championships, held its second tournament of Season 2 from January 9th-11th in Richmond, Virginia, and the tournament was perhaps its most successful one in North America. The tournament was sold out both for competitors and attendees and while there were some waiting periods longer than expected during the main event, the weekend overall was perhaps the smoothest it’s been with numerous side events, artist signings, achievable prizes and ways to acquire tickets to get the prizes, vendors, extra activities like Pack Rush, Collection Quest, a children’s activity area, and some really excellent Disney Lorcana game play at the highest levels.
Lorcana travels to EPCOT International Festival of the Arts
The Illumineers at Ravensburger must be tireless, because just 3 days after DLC Richmond ended, Disney Lorcana opened its largest activation ever in Walt Disney World as part of the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts.
This activation is stepping up another level from the Collection Quest events that had previously been done at DCA, on the Disney Treasure cruise ship, and at other DLCs. In addition to hosting a Collection Quest, there is also a scavenger hunt throughout the park to find the giant Lorcana cards, and you can also participate in the fun simply by making a purchase. Each of these three activities has a reward of a special Disney Lorcana promo card: Stitch – Rock Star, Donald Duck – Pie Slinger, and Rapunzel – Appreciative Artist. Each card is specific to the task to be completed, and each one ties into the Festival’s music, cuisine, and art. The Collection Quest at DCA last fall was a huge success, gathering a new audience to Disney Lorcana, and we’re happy to see more of these events introducing Lorcana to a more general audience.
New Year, New Products
Get ready for more ways to experience the art and cards from Disney Lorcana. Ravensburger is producing Disney Lorcana Official Collector’s Guide books on February 1st. There are two books, one for Sets 1-4 and another for Sets 5-8. Each book retails at $19.99, and the full illustrated catalogue of every Disney Lorcana card within those sets, complete with the parallel story of Lorcana, additional artwork, and easter eggs from the game that you might have missed. Even the front cover text has foil details reminiscent of the foil cards. These are a must for Lorcana Collectors and fans.
In addition to these Collector’s guides is a Lorcana Notebook for $14.99. This notebook has numerous blank pages for various uses of note-taking, scorekeeping, journaling, sketching, autographs, and also has 32 pages of full art from Lorcana, making it a great item to have signed by the artist.
Engaging Ice and Enchantment
The Disney Lorcana game is healthy after the release of Set 10, Whispers in the Well, and is looking forward to the highly anticipated Set 11, Winterspell. Winter is coming, and the cold doesn’t bother us at all.
We know that the nostalgic franchise Darkwing Duck and fan-favorite characters Stitch and Angel were advertised to be included in this set, but there is so much more!
In addition to Stitch and Angel, all of Stitch’s cousins and characters from Lilo & Stitch: The Series are joining in.
The artists from Disney Lorcana have always been the peak of the mountaintop, but Lorcana players and Disney fans are going to be even more exhilarated by the artwork from Winterspell. Our favorite friends and princesses are getting a winter glow-up, and the art style is spectacular.
And we have an introduction to Lorcana of a character that we cannot wait for…
Pocahontas – Peacekeeper brings this beloved character into Lorcana, and her ability, ‘Calming Words,’ which can prevent challenges for a turn if this character was Shifted into play, echoes her spirit. This art is stunning. The colors (of the wind) are flowing all over this art; in the background with the tribe and trees silhouetted before a soft sunset, to her turquoise necklace, or the golden light shining off of Pocahontas’ hair. And the geometry of the Amber Ink logo being woven into her gauntlets and waist sash is more excellent work from Alice Pisoni, who is one of the most prolific and outstanding artists of Disney Lorcana.
But wait, there’s more… take a look just around the river bend…
Our indigenous princess is ICONIC. Disney Lorcana continues the production of two Iconic cards per set in Winterspell, and this Pocahontas – Peacekeeper Iconic treatment with foil hot stamp effects, custom lore logo, and full card alternate art that truly paints with all the colors of the wind. There is so much in this art, just gaze in awe, and cross your fingers that you pull one.
But Pocahontas is not alone. There are two cards in the Iconic rarity, and she is joined by another princess finding her way… Moana!
It’s almost inexplicable how Leslie Strock is able to make a wintery scene in what seems to be an ice cavern so warm and cuddly. The stylization is very kawaii, and the lore (diamond) logos swirling around are sure to shimmer with foil treatments are previous Iconic cards do.
The art of these cards is on par with the artwork you would see if you were at the Disneyland Resort and walked into the Disneyana art store on Main Street U.S.A. A style inspiration for the Iconic and Enchanted cards from Winterspell is paper snowflake art. It brings a light feel while engaging in symmetry and swooping lines.
Lorcana players will have already spotted the ability ‘Ancestral Legacy’ on this Moana – Curious Explorer card: ‘You can ink cards from your discard.’ This will be a great benefit for Sapphire as they can maintain hand size while inking from their discard. Yes, this ability does synergize with ‘Sail the Azurite Sea’ or other effects that allow ‘inking a card.’ But, it does not work with the effect like ‘Measure Me Again’ from Tipo – Growing Son that allows a player to ‘put a card from your hand into your inkwell.’ ‘Inking a card’ is a verb and is specifically different from putting a card into your inkwell. But beware those who would use this new effect; there were some cards introduced in Whispers in the Well that benefit from a card leaving a player’s inkwell in a turn.
We also get some characters in their familiar looks in snowy situations.
Winterspell also gets a new look for some of the promo cards. The Stitch – High Badness Level and Beast – Snowfield Troublemaker (both featured above) are the organized play promo and Buy a Box promo cards, and retain the normal border and double triangle logo. But the following promos from Winterspell have a new look. The cards also have cost reduction abilities, a reinvigorated tactic in multiple inks in Winterspell, and Elisa Maza – Transformed Gargoyle’s effect ‘Forever Strong’ can have some serious benefits, especially being an easy answer to Tiana – Restaurant Owner.
There is something growing in Lorcana after Whispers in the Well, a vine, and it is somehow intertwined with the Flood Ink. The vine surges across Lorcana, and in an effort to suppress it, Elsa can’t control it.
We’ll have to watch out for this wild vine in the future.
But we must sprinkle some pixie dust on Winterspell to complete this frosty fun. Set Championships, small tournaments hosted by local game stores once per set, will have some magic to them this set, with Tinker Bell flying over us as the participation card and prize card.
The participation card is received by anyone who plays in the tournament (up to 40 people), and the prize cards, which are foiled and embossed, are gifted to those who finish in the Top 8 of the tournament.
Winterspell products release on February 13th at local game stores and Disney Parks and stores and a wide release at all retailers comes on February 20th.
Collector’s Treasure
On March 13th, Lorcana collectors get the next installments of the gift box set and collection starter set.
The Scrooge McDuck Gift Box Set (MSRP $29.99) includes an alternate art glimmer foil of the Scrooge McDuck – S.H.U.S.H. Agent card, five random booster packs from previous sets, three card dividers, and a decorative box also with the alternate art.
Also releasing on March 13th is the Stitch Edition of the Collection Starter Set for $29.99. Included in the set are four booster packs from Winterspell, a glimmer foil of the Stitch – Carefree Snowboarder, a 2×2 folio binder that can hold up to 80 cards to build, display, and protect your collection, plus a collector’s guide. The guide gives tips for collecting cards and information on card details, such as the rarity logos at the bottom of the cards. This is a great way to introduce yourself to Lorcana and is a must-have for Stitch fans.
Into the Wild
Well, partner, it’s time for an adventure with our friends. We don’t have much info yet on the story for this set, but the aux cable that Woody is using as a rope is a hilarious touch, and that looks like half of a scissors he’s using to cut through…a vine!
Set 12 Wilds Unknown sees Pixar franchises entering Disney Lorcana, and who else could lead that charge other than Toy Story? We have a few sneak peeks at cards below, but let’s focus on what’s new for this set.
For the first time, we get pre-release kits for local game stores. These sealed packs will contain 6 booster packs, one of six random promo cards, and one of three postcards. These packs can be used for Sealed, Draft, and Pack Rush play at local game stores’ prerelease events.
The full product lineup of Wilds Unknown includes a Merida playmat! So expect to see Brave, another Pixar animated production, featured in Wilds Unknown. Player favorite Goofy – Super Goof also gets his due by being featured on a playmat. Wilds Unknown will introduce the shift from two single-player decks into one product, the two-player starter deck set.
This product will have everything needed to start a one-on-one game of Lorcana from scratch. Two 60-card, ready-to-play decks, two deck boxes, two lore (score) counters, damage counters to keep track of any damage on characters, and a Quick Start Guide for guidance in the game. We see Buzz Lightyear headlining one deck, and on the other, we introduce another Pixar property that the Lorcana community has been begging for. And it’s led by a hero, but not just any hero, someone Incredible.
The Incredibles will have their superhero entrance into Lorcana in Wilds Unknown. We only get this sneak peek of two of the five members of the Parr family, but you can be sure that they will have some incredible abilities.
These starter decks include a special rainbow foil card, and they are quite beautiful. Hopefully, we see that these starter decks are built out with some synergy so the cards can work together in strategy. But I still can’t wait to see what strength level Mr. Incredible has.
Down the Vine
We heard some amazing news about what is coming in the second half of 2026 for Disney Lorcana by Ravensburger. The Pixar parade continues in Set 13 as we see Monsters, Inc. make its Lorcana debut.
Look at this first teaser image of Set 13, releasing in the 3rd quarter of this year, Attack of the Vine. Not only are we getting Monsters, Inc., but we also see Carl Fredricksen’s house from the movie Up in the background to the left, as well as the blimp of deranged explorer Charles F. Muntz. And in the far right… is that the tower of the Great Illuminary..? or maybe another castle surrounded by vines and brambles… only time will tell. And don’t forget, Set 13 will also bring Turning Red into Lorcana.
Remember Me
And while we might not know the name of Set 14 that comes in Quarter 4, we do know that another beloved Pixar property is coming to Lorcana, and it’s un poco loco.
Coco’s Miguel sings his first song in Lorcana starting late this year, and we will have to do better than Hector at keeping our heads on straight after hearing this and all the wonderful news from today.
