D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event
In the past, D23 Expo has included a massive show floor with shopping and exhibits, panels and presentations from Disney creatives, and star-studded “hot ticket” reveals from Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars of new movies and television shows – who can forget Jamie Lee Curtis (AKA Madame Leota) arriving onstage in a Doom Buggy? To kick off the weekend, D23 will host the first-ever takeover of Disneyland on Aug. 8, 2024, featuring unique D23-esque offerings, including a custom cavalcade and dance party in Disneyland, a music-filled celebration for preschoolers and their families hosted by Disney Junior in California Adventure, and special themed photo ops, food, merch, and more in both parks.

2024 Disney Legends
The Disney Legends Awards began 37 years ago when Fred MacMurray (The Shaggy Dog, The Absent-Minded Professor, The Happiest Millionaire) was honored in 1987.
Since then (and including this year’s 14 honorees), 318 individuals have been named Disney Legends, including Tim Allen, Julie Andrews, Howard Ashman, Kristen Bell, Robert Downey Jr., Annette Funicello, Whoopi Goldberg, Elton John, Angela Lansbury, George Lucas, Steve Martin, Alan Menken, Hayley Mills, Fess Parker, Ellen Pompeo, Robin Roberts, Marty Sklar, Dick Van Dyke, Barbara Walters, Ming-Na Wen, Betty White, Robin Williams, and many more.

“To be named a Disney Legend is the highest honor our company can bestow on anyone, reserved for those whose talent and achievement have earned them an enduring place in our history,” said Disney CEO Bob Iger. “The fourteen individuals to be honored as Disney Legends this year have each made extraordinary creative contributions across the worlds of Disney, and we look forward to celebrating them at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.”
Disney Legends receive a two-foot-tall bronze sculpture representing the “imagination, creativity, and magic they have brought to the company.” Honorees also participate in a handprint ceremony, and their bronzed prints are displayed in the Disney Legends Plaza at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank.

The 2024 Disney Legends Award honorees (listed alphabetically) are:
