The pumpkins have been grinning since August, and Halloween Time is finally in full stride… but just as the spooky season peaks, the first wave of Christmas items has started hitting the shelves. We’ll show you where to find those early holiday arrivals, along with a reminder that not all of the Disneyland Resort’s Halloween fun requires a park ticket. You can catch free rooftop views of Halloween Screams fireworks, gawk at lobby-sized chocolate showpieces, or — if you dare — book a spa treatment promising “creamy caramel” feet (still not sure about that one).

Don’t miss the Halloween windows on Main Street. There are all sorts of surprises.

Inside the gates, it’s less pumpkin patch and more plywood patch. Fantasyland is crawling with construction walls, Big Thunder remains out of action, and Downtown Disney continues its transformation relay.

On the lighter side, the season’s must-have witchy mugs come with some fine print if you hope to snag one, the refurbishment calendar has shuffled again (hello, Goofy’s Sky School), Tomorrowland is tinkering, and Disneyland is doing the unthinkable… offering actual discounts. Whether you’re here for the treats, the tricks, or just the drama, there’s plenty brewing.

Let’s get to it…

JUST IN: Merry Christmas… It’s Halloween

As we were preparing your Disneyland Update last night, the first big wave of Christmas items was being stocked.  Hold your pumpkin spice latte for a moment while we share the peppermint and tinsel-dusted items now available…

Now… back to your regularly scheduled season of the witch…

Halloween Outside The Gates

We’ve been telling you everything you need to know about Halloween Time inside the theme parks for months, but did you know there are Halloween Happenings at the Disneyland Resort that don’t require an admission ticket?

On select nights during Halloween Time, the Halloween Screams fireworks spectacular can be viewed from the rooftop deck at Pixar Place Hotel, complete with the show’s spooky soundtrack. Both hotel and non-hotel guests are welcome, and no fees apply for this experience.

, DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Pumpkins, Peppermint & Price Cuts?!

On your way to see the show, make sure to check out the five-foot-tall Mickey pumpkin in the Disneyland Hotel lobby, which was created with 60 pounds of chocolate, 55 pounds of rice cereal, 30 pounds of marshmallows, and a whopping 120 pounds of fondant.

, DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Pumpkins, Peppermint & Price Cuts?!

Speaking of Confectionery works of art, the Nightmare Before Christmas display in the Grand Californian Lobby is also worth a look… and makes a great photo opportunity.

175 pounds of chocolate… Don’t mind if I do…

, DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Pumpkins, Peppermint & Price Cuts?!

Be sure to walk all the way around the display. Jack and Sally are featured on the front, and Oogie Boogie is on the back.

, DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Pumpkins, Peppermint & Price Cuts?!

, DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Pumpkins, Peppermint & Price Cuts?! A special Wicked to the Core Foot Treatment is available through November 2nd at Tenaya Stone Spa in the Grand Californian Hotel. The 50-minute treatment can be booked by both hotel and non-hotel guests at a cost of $170.

“Prepare to pamper your feet in the most deliciously wicked way. Enjoy a warm foot soak with aromas of rich and creamy caramel, followed by an exfoliating candy apple sugar scrub. Your soles will then be treated to a massage with a softening body mousse containing notes of sweet candy. It’s a treat so sumptuous, you’ll swear it was conjured by magic.”

We’re not so sure about “creamy caramel” feet… but having a massage after a theme park visit is a treat your body will thank you for.

Disneyland Resort Constructionland

With Halloween Time being one of the busiest times of the year (and the holiday season hot on its heels), you’d think there would be fewer projects going on, but that’s not the case this year. The resort is currently a sea of construction walls and scrims.

Downtown Disney District Construction Projects

The former ESPN Zone is transitioning into a Lululemon store with the addition of large windows. Did you know there’s a Lululemon x Disney collection? Find out more HERE.

, DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Pumpkins, Peppermint & Price Cuts?!

Construction also continues on the exterior of the Naples Ristorante e Bar. This appears to be just exterior work as the interior was recently renovated…

, DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Pumpkins, Peppermint & Price Cuts?!

…but there’s still no visible work going on at the new steakhouse and BBQ restaurants in the former Tortilla Jo’s location. After a rush to tear down the old Tortilla Jo’s, this project seems to be stalled.

, DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Pumpkins, Peppermint & Price Cuts?!

Also behind construction walls is the Lego Store, which is getting some exterior enhancements… but, worry not, the shop remains open to guests.

, DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Pumpkins, Peppermint & Price Cuts?!, DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Pumpkins, Peppermint & Price Cuts?!

We peeked behind the wall and spotted an epic battle taking place… and some very slow concrete work next to the store.

, DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Pumpkins, Peppermint & Price Cuts?!

And yes, we know we’ve said this before but the Earl of Sandwich location at the east end of Downtown Disney District (formally La Brea Bakery) is closing “soon”… Staff at the store have been told to expect to keep working through at least mid-October, but the closure keeps getting pushed out and could be extended yet again. It would be great for the staff if this location could remain open until the new restaurant on the west side of Downtown Disney was ready to begin training.

, DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Pumpkins, Peppermint & Price Cuts?!

The new location is coming along quickly and could open before the end of the year.

, DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Pumpkins, Peppermint & Price Cuts?!

It also seems the Earl is going out with a bang… a limited-time spicy BBQ Brisket sandwich is now on the menu and it’s DELICIOUS!

Disneyland Construction

Construction walls and scrims dominate the landscape in Fantasyland, with no re-opening date announced for the Storybook Land Canal Boats and Casey Jr. Circus Train.

, DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Pumpkins, Peppermint & Price Cuts?!

The walls stretch from the parade route all the way to Big Thunder Trail.

, DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Pumpkins, Peppermint & Price Cuts?!

A printed scrim in front of Casey Jr. Circus Train is particularly well done and blends in perfectly with the landscape behind it.

, DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Pumpkins, Peppermint & Price Cuts?!

The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad construction project also has no posted end date., DISNEYLAND UPDATE: Pumpkins, Peppermint & Price Cuts?!

California Adventure

Two additions to Avengers Campus are on the way. Avengers Infinity Defense, is an E-ticket that will take guests on a large-scale adventure through Marvel’s New York, Wakanda, and Asgard in a battle against Thanos. The smaller attraction, Stark Flight Lab, is a simulator experience where guests will board two-person pods to test Tony Stark’s latest high-tech invention.

The new show building for the two upcoming attractions is massive.

Fantastic Four No More

The Fantastic Four meet-and-greet that delighted Tomorrowland guests this summer, as part of the “Fantastic Four: First Steps” promotion, has sadly ended. We really enjoyed seeing them, and their sassy robot H.E.R.B.I.E.
