Disney Cruises offers an abundance of activities for guests to enjoy, such as trivia games, deck parties, Broadway-way-style shows, and, of course, my favorite: shopping! Like Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawaii, much of the merchandise sold at the shops onboard the Disney Cruise Line’s ships is exclusive to the location. We’ve featured the merchandise from the Disney Wish in the past, but I thought my Mexican Riviera cruise on the Disney Magic last month would be a golden opportunity to share the highlights available during my sailing. Let’s take a look!

Disney Cruise Line Shopping Tips
Whether you are searching for merchandise on the Disney Magic or other ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, snagging that sought-after item can prove tricky and, while I hate saying this, may not be impossible. But here are some tips to keep in mind:
- If you see something you want, don’t wait to purchase it later; it may be sold out when you return. Supplies are much more limited aboard the ships compared to the Disney Parks.
- That being said, even if you don’t see something on the shelves, it would not hurt to ask a Cast Member.
- The ship’s stores are not open when they are in port. So, if you want to schedule some retail therapy for your vacation, I suggest checking out each shop’s store hours, which are posted at their entrances.
- I have found the two main shops, Mickey’s Mainsail and White Caps, are busiest right before and after a show is taking place at the Walt Disney Theater. The schedule in your Disney Cruise app will note the showtimes during your sailing. Avoid those time frames if you prefer to shop in a less packed environment.

Mickey’s Mainsail aboard the Disney Magic
Mickey’s Mainsail is on Deck 4 in the corridor leading to the Walt Disney Theater from the atrium. Its wares focus on character-inspired goods and offer merchandise for all members of the family.

There are several styles of shirts with classic Mickey and Minnie Mouse in captain’s hats. Matching jogger pants and pajama pants are sold nearby.

This cruisewear collection features our two favorite mice in a similar style, but this time, they are part of a larger print that includes images of the ship, the Disney Cruise Line logo, and other nautical elements. The print is used on adult and kid-sized button-up shirts and sundresses, plus a bandana for your pet.

This newer collection sees Mickey and his friends in a simplified art style. It includes a large variety of apparel for adults and kids and a few other items like …

… this cap and …

… cups, bowls, and a serving platter.

This ringer tee and thermos are decorated with the tagline “Making Magic,” accompanied by the silhouette of a ship and the Disney Cruise Line logo. There are similar items created for all of the ships with slogans referencing the individual vessels (like we saw on the Disney Wish).

As you would expect the family-oriented Disney brand, there is plenty of youth apparel for purchase.

Most Disney Cruise Line itineraries (mine included) have a Pirate Night, during which many guests enjoy dressing in costume. And Mickey’s Mainsail also supplies themed merchandise for the occasion, such as the Pirate Redd costume and kids’ graphic tees seen below.

Adults are not forgotten either (although their options are comparatively limited). There are a few graphic tees, a hoodie, and, most notably, an adorable Loungefly mini backpack made to look like Stitch as a pirate (I seriously regret not picking this one up).

Interestingly, the Ear Headband selection was pretty sparse during my sailing. I spotted a light purple, sequin-covered pair that is not exclusive to the cruise line as well as the older Disney Cruise Line 25th Anniversary pair (more on that in the next section).

Mickey’s Mainsail is also home to a wall of Disney plush friends who are waiting to be adopted. You’ll notice that many of these cuties are available from the Disney Parks or shopDisney, but a handful can only be found on the ships.

I noticed a new plush of Captain Mickey in the revamped swaddled baby plush style (this would be version 3.0 for the plush line, I believe).

Another one of the more recent DCL-exclusive additions is the elephant and monkey towel animal plushes, inspired by the towel creations left in your room each night by your stateroom host or hostess. They are made of a soft terry fabric and have the Disney Cruise Line logo embroidered on them. But my favorite detail on these darlings is that they have embroidered dot eyes underneath their sunglasses. I would love to see Disney create more towel animal plushes in the future. These two captured my heart (and my wallet) as soon as I laid eyes on them.

Other exclusives include some oldie-but-goodie friends: Captain Duffy (yes, Duffy the Disney Bear is still on the Disney Cruise Line!), Sailor Pluto, and Sailor Dale. Mickey, Minnie, and the rest of the gang’s Disney Cruise Line plush counterparts were sold out during my sailing, unfortunately.

Another notable plaything is the ship play set. It is huge, and different parts light up or play music. Plus, it comes with six character figures.

Mugs are a classic souvenir for many families and also make thoughtful gifts for loved ones at home. And as luck would have it, there are a number of different mugs to choose from!

I get the feeling the butter knives from the restaurant Animator’s Palate must “go missing” on a regular basis; guests can purchase their own inside Mickey’s Mainsail.

Regardless of whether or not you are on a Very Merritime Cruise, you’ll still find all sorts of exclusive ornaments.

If you are worried that you may have purchased a little too many souvenirs (and no judgment here; I have dealt with this myself), there are two sizes of rolling suitcases sold in this store that will surely help you out should you find yourself in that predicament.

White Caps aboard the Disney Magic
Directly across from Mickey’s Mainsail is White Caps, where you will find more high-end and third-party collaborative Disney Cruise Line merchandise. It also has a nook with sundries and over-the-counter medicines.

Tommy Bahama teamed up with Disney to create this button-up shirt. I noticed a lot of guests eyeing this one.

All you Pandora collectors will be excited to know that White Caps has a display full of the company’s Disney-inspired charms, included some created just for the Disney Cruise Line.

Guests have been enamored with the merchandise collection that Disney created based on the characters decorating each of the ships’ sterns, like Goofy on the Disney Magic. Among the items sold during my trip were a Spirit Jersey, a magnet set (for decorating your stateroom door), a raglan tee, a very distinct water bottle, a darling coffee mug (I should have purchased that one, too), and a women’s button-up shirt.

There was also some merchandise with a sunset-like color scheme. The Spirit Jersey and women’s ringer tee also featured a wave motif, while the hat and sling bag had a simpler look.

There was also merchandise left over from the Disney Cruise Line’s 25th anniversary celebration, which ended in September. Highlights were a Loungefly mini backpack, an Ear Headband (also by Loungefly), and a Spirit Jersey.

Sea Treasures aboard the Disney Magic
Located on Deck 3, the kid-oriented Sea Treasures is the best place to take your princess-in-training or pirate recruit if you didn’t manage to score a reservation at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique or Pirate’s League (BBB’s swashbuckling overlay for Pirate Night).

The shop offers all manner of princess dresses and accessories and character dolls. The costumes are the same ones you’ll find at Disney Parks and on shopDisney.
They also stock some items, like this shirt, that were created for the boutique.

One wall is dedicated to kids’ pirate costumes, accessories, and toys.
