Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Wish, sets sail on its 5-night maiden voyage to Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney’s Castaway Cay on July 14th. But we are very lucky to have been invited on the Christening Cruise on June 29th… which means we have photos, tips, and thoughts for you on Disney’s ENTIRELY NEW ship.

While the Wish looks a lot like the Magic, Wonder, Dream, and Fantasy on the outside (albeit a bit bigger than the Dream class, weighing in at 144,000 gross tons vs. 129,690) Disney’s newest ship looks almost completely different on the inside. Let’s take a highlights tour of the Disney Wish, deck by deck. There’s a lot to unveil here, so let’s start from the top deck and work our way down…

Disney Wish Deck 13

Located aft, Quiet Cove is the adult-exclusive pool and bar, featuring lounging seats and beds, a whirlpool, an infinity pool, and lounging pools featuring backside trickling waterfalls – all offering gorgeous views of the ocean.

Quiet Cove Café aboard the Disney Wish offers specialty coffee, tea, and alcoholic beverages (for an upcharge). The café features artwork and decor themed to Moana. But note that the Cafe can be difficult to find, so don’t hesitate to ask a crew member to point you in the right direction.

AquaMouse Entrance

Similar to the Dream and Fantasy’s AquaDuck, the all-new Aqua-Mouse is billed as the first-ever attraction at sea. Join Mickey and Minnie on an animated adventure, hop aboard a 2-person raft before ascending into a magical tunnel, transporting you into a crazy adventure alongside Mickey and Minnie, complete with water effects and video synchronized to an original musical score. But be prepared, lines can get very long for this ride.

Disney Wish Deck 12

Premium Dining District: The Rose, Palo Steakhouse, and Enchanté

The Disney Wish’s adult-dining district offers lovely libations and gourmet food with hints of Beauty & the Beast found throughout the decor and furnishings. Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté are the two upcharge dining locations requiring a reservation. While The Rose is an upscale bar connecting the two restaurants.

The Rose lures you in with an enchanted rose and mirror… This lounge is a great place for some pre and post-dinner drinks, they also offer a special menu of gourmet amuse-bouche and small plates from the Enchanté galley, curated by Chef Lallement.

Palo Steakhouse may sound familiar (there’s a Palo on all four of Disney’s previous ships), but this one has been reimagined as a steakhouse inspired by Cogsworth from the Beast’s castle. But not to worry, Palo Steakhouse offers the Italian dishes you expect to find along with American prime beef cuts. Have no fear, Palo’s beloved chocolate soufflé is available here, too! Brunch will also be available beginning with the July 14th maiden voyage.

Enchanté, lightly themed to Lumiere, is the Wish’s version of Remy (the signature dining experience on the Disney Dream and Fantasy) – the ship’s most elegant dining experience, with a menu from 3-Michelin starred Chef Arnaud Lallement. Superior and seasonal ingredients are sourced from around the world (including the Chef’s own home garden, located in Ohio) to create exceptional international dishes.

Hero Zone is a two-story sports court and games area (also accessible from deck 12), featuring a basketball court, air hockey, and foosball tables, and an occasional inflatable obstacle course themed to the Incredibles.

Disney Wish Deck 11

This is where the fun in the sun happens! The Wish has several Family Pools scattered along the upper decks, with one large pool in the center (Minnie’s Pool), surrounded by smaller pools (Daisy’s and Pluto’s wading pools with waterfall features; and Donald’s and Goofy’s located on Deck 12 just above the others). Just below FunnelVision, you’ll find Mickey’s Pool, which can be covered and used as a stage for deck parties.

Disney Wish, Explore the Disney Wish – Deck by Deck

Throughout the voyage, favorite Disney movies play on the giant FunnelVision, so you can swim and watch!

For little ones and young families looking for water play, there’s Toy Story Splash Zone, Trixie’s Falls, and Slide-O-Saurus Rex. Wheezie’s Freezies is nearby, serving up fruity smoothies.

Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods

This is a great place to catch a quick bite on the pool deck. Food counters include Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue, Donald’s Cantina, Daisy’s Pizza Pies, Goofy’s Grill, and Sweet Minnie’s Ice Cream. This is the first time BBQ and Mexican food options are a part of DCL quick-service locations. And this is where you’ll find that famous DCL unlimited soft-serve ice cream!

Disney Wish, Explore the Disney Wish – Deck by Deck

Marceline Market

Inspired by global food markets, this walk-up style eatery replaces the typical Cabanas buffet. Featuring 10 food stations and a café-style beverage bar at the center. Rotational menus change throughout the voyage, including seafood, comfort foods, baked items, classic American fare, vegetarian options, soups, and salads. At night, the eatery is converted to a table-service dinner option.

Inside Out: Joyful Sweets

Disney Wish, Explore the Disney Wish – Deck by DeckThe Wish’s specialty sweet shop is inspired by Inside Out, decorated with glowing memory orb lights and sculptures of the five emotions. More than 40 flavors of gelato and ice cream are available here, including hand-made toppings such as whipped cream, fruit compotes, and sauces. You’ll also find themed baked goods and packaged candy here. Similar to the ship’s lounges, these treats are available at an additional cost.

Dory’s Forget-Me-Knots is the upper deck gift shop – selling swimwear, water-play gear, DCL souvenirs, and graphic tees.

VIBE – the hangout venue for those aged 14 to 17 – teens can meet new friends, watch movies, play games, and more.

Disney Wish Staterooms Decks 10-6

Decks 10 through 6 are filled with staterooms, with the exception of deck 8 which also holds the ship’s laundry facility for guests. Fairytale Fresh Laundry houses plenty of washer/dryer units and steam irons with ironing boards. Even better, it’s centrally located for easy access from any stateroom and softly plays Disney fairytale scores overhead.

Staterooms vary in size and access to a verandah. However, most of the rooms on the ship look at least something like the room we stayed in. The layout will be familiar to Disney’s other ships, but with a slightly more elegant look on the Wish.

There are also some unique suites on the ship. We’ll give you a deeper view soon, but here’s a look at the two-story Funnel Suite (the first suite inside a funnel on a Cruise Ship).

Disney Wish, Explore the Disney Wish – Deck by Deck

The two-story suite has three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchenette, 4 bathrooms, and stunning views. It is lightly themed to Disney’s Moana.

While a bit smaller than the Funnel Squite, these suites have the advantage of huge verandahs which include a private hot tub!

Disney Wish, Explore the Disney Wish – Deck by Deck Of course, the Wish has concierge rooms and other options as well. Your travel agent can help you with pricing and the many, many options. But just about every room is some variation of what we showed you above.  (Contact MiceChat’s approved travel partner Get Away Today – HERE)

Disney Wish Deck 6

The majority of this deck is reserved for staterooms, but there are some upper areas of the Shipside Promenade.

Disney Wish, Explore the Disney Wish – Deck by Deck

Disney Wish Deck 5

Shipside Promenade – wooden loungers and shuffleboard line both port and starboard promenades. Across the DCL fleet, this is a favorite place to relax, read, or just take in the fresh ocean air while keeping cool in the shade. While the Wish’s open deck offers varying levels to lounge about and play shuffleboard, there is no straightforward walking/running path that wraps around deck 5. One end is blocked by the Rainforest Room outdoor area, and the other is closed off from guest access. We also discovered a service dog relief area tucked behind the stairway leading up to deck 6.

Mickey’s Mainsail is home to the most Disney Cruise Line exclusive souvenirs and gifts, including the Disney Wish collection, which in total has over 180 different items – including a special-edition Spirit Jersey, two different Loungefly mini-backpacks, and ear headbands. (Get a better look at the Wish’s merchandise here!)

Luna is a two-story family entertainment venue – a great setting for scheduled game shows, comedy acts, and more. The second-story balcony seating is accessible here.

Triton’s Lounge is located just behind Luna, housing a smaller setting for various family trivia and scavenger hunt activities.

Keg & Compass is a Norwegian nautical-themed pub and sports bar (with a few Disney details that are fun to seek out!), featuring draft beer, wines, and cocktails. Food options are also available in the evening for an additional charge, including chicken wings, and fish & chips.

Enchanted Sword Cafe is located just off the Grand Hall on deck 5, offering pressed juices, cocktails, wine, and the same favorite espresso beverages from Cove Café.

Senses Spa aboard the Wish features intimate relaxation rooms, men’s and women’s locker rooms equipped with a steam room, private treatment rooms, spa villas for couples, and steam and aromatherapy rooms designed to help you decompress, rejuvenate and recharge. Massage, facial, acupuncture, and specialized custom therapies are available.

Connected to the Senses Spa is the new Rainforest Room, which is truly fit for royalty.  Featuring a lush atmosphere filled with waterfall showers, a dry-infrared sauna, a steam room, and a frigidarium offering cryotherapy (new for the Wish), and plenty of those beloved DCL heated tile loungers. But wait, there’s more! The outdoor portion houses two whirlpool jacuzzis and various loungers lining the entire space.  The Wish’s Rainforest Room is unlike any other ship’s, sprawling with relaxation stations and various places to rest and recharge. This quickly takes the cake as our favorite place onboard! Note: the Rainforest Room is not included with reserved spa treatments; day passes are available starting at around $80 per person.

Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure is Disney’s first-ever Frozen-themed restaurant. A theatrical dining experience with a central stage that offers an optimal view for each table – the show revolves around Anna and Kristoff’s engagement party and stars Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and Kristoff, Wandering Oaken and his Hearty Party Planning Service… and Sauna. The menu offers cuisine with Nordic influences.

Disney Wish Deck 4

A small portion of the Shipside Promenade cascades from Deck 5 here.

Wishing Star Cafe is another one of many cafés onboard; offering pressed juices, cocktails, wine, and the same favorite espresso beverages from Cove Café. The Wish’s cafés are a great place to refuel with caffeine and recharge your devices, as USB ports line most bar areas.

Untangled Salon is a Rapunzel-themed high-end salon for adult guests, offering a variety of treatments including hair styling, manicures, and pedicures.

Disney Wish, Explore the Disney Wish – Deck by Deck

Hook’s Barbery is inspired by Captain Hook’s private quarters aboard the Jolly Roger, offering hair styling, nail, and skin care treatments. For those 21 and older, sip on some of the finest whiskies, bourbon, and rums during your treatment as there’s a secret bar here as well.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is just a few steps away from the adult salons, and is just for kids aged 3-12! Here is where your little one can get the royal treatment – hairstyling, makeup, full costume, and accessories. In addition to princess, prince, pirate, and knight costumes, kids can dress up as Captain Minnie and Captain Mickey.

Wonderland and Never Land Cinemas are the ship’s two theaters showing the latest Disney movies. Two theaters mean more options for guests. And the Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan details found here are so cute!

Worlds of Marvel is another one of the Wish’s themed entertainment dining. Ant-Man and the Wasp are hosting a demo of superhero technologies; an interactive quantum core sits at each dining table for you to contribute to shrinking and growing items, and of course… things go awry. The menu is inspired by the MCU, including dishes based on real and fictional settings such as Wakanda, Sokovia, and New York City.

Guest Services (available by appointment only, by booking through the DCL Navigator app once onboard), and Port Adventures booking desks are also located on deck 4.

Disney Wish Deck 3

What is usually called the atrium on Disney’s ships, is the Grand Hall on the Wish. The Grand Hall is referred to as Disney’s castle on the seas and acts as an enchanted gateway to everything that awaits onboard. The space includes a new concept, the Grand Hall Stage, which hosts fun theatrical surprises throughout each day and is a natural character spot.

Disney Wish, Explore the Disney Wish – Deck by Deck

The entire Hall is made for pixie dusting – which appears a few times throughout the voyage. Twinkly sparkles climb the three-story columns and animate the wishing star chandelier. The entire Grand Hall is heavily themed to the story of Cinderella, featuring familiar imagery from the fairy tale such as glass slippers and pumpkins.

1923 is one of the regular dining venues on board, and is split into two different dining areas (named for Walt and Roy), offering a more intimate setting rather than one large dining room. Tables are surrounded by over 800 pieces of artwork and artifacts including 24 multi-plane camera cell setups. Named after the year the Walt Disney Co. was founded, 1923 serves up classic California dishes – light, fresh, and flavorful options with Asian, European, and South American flavors. Table service breakfast is also served here throughout the voyage.

Shopping District – an upscale shopping area is located on deck 3, which runs between the Grand Hall and the Walt Disney Theatre. Five venues line each side of the shopping promenade, offering exclusive Disney Cruise Line merchandise and luxury gifts such as jewelry, watches, and accessories.

  • Treasures Untold is a go-to destination for signature collectibles; including Disney’s largest selection of Pandora Jewelry ever, plus limited-time Artist Spotlight collections and Disney x Dooney & Bourke handbags.

  • Enchanted Castle Jewels features fine jewelry collections from Crown of Light, Safi Kilima Tanzanite, Diamonds International, and more. But we didn’t spot any Disney items in this shop.

The Bayou, a Princess & the Frog-inspired 18+ lounge, sits between the two sides of the luxury Shopping District. A stage hosts live entertainment and musical performances; themed cocktails, specialty coffees, and fresh beignets are all available for an additional charge.

Star Wars: HyperSpace Lounge is tucked away and located just next to The Bayou. This venue is open for families during the day and is adult-exclusive at night. It’s like a little piece of the Halcyon, offering a more luxurious Star Wars setting featuring a viewport located just behind the bar, with views of familiar planets such as Mustafar, Coruscant, Tatooine, and Batuu. Signature cocktails inspired by the films are available here, including one option for a whopping $5,000 (which includes a visit to Skywalker Ranch), served in a camtono.

Nightingale’s is a piano bar with inspired touches from the sing, sweet nightingale scene in Cinderella, (leaning more towards Cinderella cleaning and bubbles floating up, rather than the wicked step-sister’s “singing”), including a bubble chandelier, and specialty bubble beverages – think smoky bubbles that pop over gin or frozen spheres filled with creamy concoctions that must be broken with a tiny mallet!

The three-story Walt Disney Theater featuring two balconies is home to the Wish’s broadway-style shows: Aladdin, The Little Mermaid and Disney Seas the Adventure. (We were given a small preview of the new opening show, Disney Seas the Adventure (if you sail on the Wish, don’t miss it on night one!). We also previewed scenes from the upcoming Little Mermaid show (we weren’t allowed to take photos).
