Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel is nearing the completion of its transformation into the Pixar Place Hotel. The hotel remains open during its transformation and currently offers full-price rooms, even without a pool or food service. However, that’s about to change as the brand new pool area is set to open on August 1st (photos and info below).

(UPDATE: Since this article was last updated back in July of 2023, The Pixar Place Hotel has  officially opened. Here’s EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE PIXAR PLACE HOTEL)

What is the Pixar Place Hotel?

The Pixar Place Hotel is a retheme of the old Paradise Pier Hotel (which was itself a Disney redo of the Pan Pacific Hotel) at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. When complete in late 2023, the hotel will be fully Pixar-themed.

The hotel is inspired by the films of Pixar Animation Studios, with nods to the movies in every possible way. As the hotel is currently in the process of updating everything, not all of the services and amenities are presently available, and there are lots of construction walls and incomplete spaces.

The hotel will eventually feature a variety of Pixar-themed amenities, including a family play court, a new 3rd-party restaurant called Great Maple (which will also be in charge of all the food and beverage in the hotel), and a grab-and-go coffee shop.

Right now, the hotel does not offer any food service, but there is a small vending machine area.

Pixar Place Hotel Theme

The Pixar Pier Hotel is themed to the films of Pixar Animation Studios. The hotel’s exterior is painted in a white and black color scheme with red, yellow, and blue accents. Some fans have called the exterior look “The Children’s Memorial Hospital of Disneyland,” but the interior and pool areas show much more promise.

Many of the Pixar details are yet to come. The lobby atrium awaits it’s Luxo sculpture.

The hotel’s rooms will also be themed to different Pixar films, and they feature a variety of Pixar-themed amenities, such as bedspreads with Pixar characters, wallpaper with Pixar scenes, and lots of Pixar artwork and nods.

What Will the Pixar Place Hotel Offer?

When Pixar Place Hotel is finished, it will give guests an opportunity to enjoy all-things Pixar. Between the themed spaces, fun amenities, and food from Great Maple, there will be a lot to enjoy. Here’s what to look forward to:

A Pixar-themed pool area, complete with a splash pad and a Crush (from Finding Nemo)-themed water slide. (More on this below!)

A new 3rd party restaurant, Great Maple, that specializes in comfort food (particularly fried chicken and donuts!) and all-day brunch. Great Maple will also be in charge of food and beverage for the whole hotel, so expect some great things even when not ordering directly from the restaurant! The Great Maple restaurant is still under construction, but it is set to open this fall.

A grab-and-go coffee shop will be a great place to pick up a quick bite or a cup of coffee before heading to the parks. The area is currently built and painted, but it’s sitting empty at the moment. Hopefully, service will start up here sooner than later.

The hotel shop has been rethemed to Pixar as well. An official unveiling of the name is yet to come.

A dedicated entrance/exit into Disney California Adventure is also now available. The walkway leads directly to the Paradise Pier area of California Adventure (near the Corn Dog Castle). Guests need to have a valid room card to access the walkway.

Timeline for Completion and Construction Updates

The Pixar Place Hotel is scheduled to be completed by Winter 2023. However, the hotel will remain open throughout the conversion. Much of the work has already been completed, and new offerings will open as they are finished. Now that the pool area will open beginning August 1, the next major component to be added will be food service (Great Maple) sometime in the fall. By winter, everything should be finished and the hotel will adopt its Pixar Place Hotel name.
