What Are The Villas at Disneyland Hotel?
The brand new 12-story 340-room Disney Vacation Club tower at the Disneyland Hotel is Disneyland Resort’s 2nd DVC property (The other at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel). Disney says the rooms blend “Walt Disney Animation Studios classics with contemporary designs.” But, when space is available, the general public can also book these rooms (which are available for booking NOW).
Villas At The Disneyland Hotel Lobby
The lobby features a compact yet modern design.
We are in love with the charming mural in the lobby, painted by Disney Animator Lorelay Bové.
The lobby features a few stylish seating areas.
Villas at the Disneyland Hotel Gym
Just off the lobby, guests will find the fitness center, which features a pool view.
Steamboat Willie Splash Pad
The Villas at Disneyland Hotel has a fantastic splash pad for the kids themed around the beloved character Mickey Mouse and his iconic role in “Steamboat Willie.” The pad is located next to the Palette Pool area, a dedicated space for relaxation and play. A key feature is a large grayscale boat model of Mickey’s steamboat brimming with interactive water play features that transform from grayscale to vibrant colors as night falls.
Villas at the Disneyland Hotel Pool
The DVC tower has its own pool area separate from the rest of the Disneyland Hotel. This mid-century modern-inspired space includes multicolored pergolas that lead to a palette-shaped pool that is flanked by cabanas. Plus, there’s a new poolside bar that offers drinks and a food menu.
Palm Breeze Pool Bar at the Disneyland Hotel Villas
The poolside Palm Breeze Bar opens on Nov. 2, 2023, offering refreshments in an indoor/outdoor setting. The Palm Breeze’s design was influenced by Disney Legend Mary Blair, whose unique style and bold use of color have marked numerous Disney Animation films. Blair’s design influence also extends to the decor within the rooms at the Villas at Disneyland Hotel, and much of the artwork. Plus, this new dining venue will be open to the public.
The menu will feature an extensive menu, including Ahi tuna tataki with Aji Amarillo ponzu, persillade, and crispy wonton, a Garden pizza with plant-based cheese, Romesco sauce, soy chorizo, cilantro-mint chimichurri, shaved asparagus, crimini mushroom and sun-dried tomato, and a Mickey-shaped chocolate chip cookie sandwich with vanilla ice cream.
Palm Breeze Bar will also serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, including a signature margarita and tropical shandy.
Meanwhile, the long-shuttered lounge next to the closed Steakhouse 55 has finally reopened with a new menu to help accommodate the need from the new hotel tower.
The Villas at Disneyland Hotel Room Types
Like any Disney Vacation Club property, there are a variety of room types (or “Villas” as DVC calls them):
Villas at Disneyland Hotel Duo Studio:
Baloo and Mowgli are featured in tropical artwork in the small duo studios inspired by “The Jungle Book.” The room has a cruise ship cabin vibe and, as the name suggests, is best for a party of 2 (or, better yet, a solo traveler). These rooms are tight but functional. However, the room we saw had nice balcony and a great pool view.
The Villas at Disneyland Hotel Deluxe Studio:
The more classic DVC room-type is a Deluxe Studio, with more space for up to 4 guests. These rooms are themed to “Sleeping Beauty” or “The Princess and the Frog,” depending on which room you are assigned to. The carved wooden walls and lighted headboards are an elegant touch.
The Villas at Disneyland Hotel 1 & 2 Bedroom Villas:
The most comfortable DVC accommodations are always the multi-room options. The Villas at Disneyland Hotel are no exception and these one and two-bedroom accommodations are quite lovely. Rooms feature Fantasia or The Princess and the Frog artwork. Unlike the studios, these units include full kitchens with a washer and dryer (which is a fantastic perk for those who want to pack light and wash on the go).
The kitchens here are a bit more streamlined than the ones at Walt Disney World, with a row of appliances along a single wall that opens to the living room. The cabinets are stocked with plates, silverware, and cookware. This is particularly helpful for those who want to make breakfast in the room before heading to the parks and to keep snacks and drinks in the fridge. We like how open this floorplan is.
(Note: If you need groceries and supplies, it’s easy to have InstaCart or AmazonFresh deliver directly to the hotel).
The two-bedroom version of the suites features a Fantasia theme.
The Villas at Disneyland Hotel – Grand Villas:
And the most luxurious option of them all is always the Grand Villa. These multilevel three-bedroom units sleep up to 12 guests. The space is perfect for a large family or a special occasion.
On the first floor, you’ll find all the communal features: a large living room, a full kitchen, and a spacious dining area. A sizeable double-sided fireplace is open to both the living room and the outdoor balcony. The primary bedroom, featuring “Bambi” artwork, is also located on the first floor.
The second floor houses two bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms and private balconies. The artwork upstairs is inspired by “Frozen” and “Moana.” The washer and dryer are upstairs as well.
There’s a large kitchen and dining space.

Our Thoughts on The Villas at Disneyland Hotel
Most DVC properties don’t focus on the ability of the general public to book them. But almost all of these properties do make such reservations available to non-members when space is available. Since DVC members will get first shot at reservations, don’t expect wide availability for regular guests (especially at first). However, if you are able to book a room, these are a elegant new option.
One concern we have is the limited amount of dining available at the Disneyland Hotel. Current guests can find it hard to quickly obtain food and drinks at the tight Tangaroa Terrace and Trader Sam’s tiki bar. There is a Goofy’s Kitchen character dining at the hotel which accepts reservations in advance and can be hard to access on short notice. And the signature Steakhouse 55 restaurant has been closed and sits there completely unused. The new Palm Breeze Bar and Lounge at the Disneyland Hotel help a bit with the demand, but both are small and fill up quickly at peak dinner hours.
While Downtown Disney is just steps away from the hotel, finding table service dining without a reservation can be a frustrating task during busy seasons, especially with recent closures and construction in the area. And even quick service can generate long lines at peak dinner times.
The Disneyland Hotel offers a great pool area, shops, two restaurants, several bars, and easy access to the parks, Monorails, and Downtown Disney. In addition, the Vacation Club Tower has a private gym, pool, hot tub, and kids water play area.

Let us know your thoughts!
What do you think about the new tower at the Disneyland Hotel? Although it is targeted to Disney Vacation Club members, did you know that regular guests can also book the rooms? We’d like to hear your thoughts about the new smaller “Duo Studios” and the massive “Grand Villas.” If anything, the amazing new tower makes the ancient original 3 towers feel hopelessly dated. Perhaps it’s time for Disneyland to replace the older towers one by one to realign them and make room for DisneylandForward. Standard hotel rooms in the style of the new villas would be a huge upgrade for the property. Let’s hear from you…
