MIRRORVERSE WAVE 3 PACKAGING

Baymax and Anger are in the $12.99 range and come within a blister card with a plastic bubble. The collectible trading card included is prominently displayed on the front.

Captain Hook and Maleficent are larger deluxe figures in the $19.99 range and come inside a box with window showcasing the figure and accessories inside. The trading card is sealed in plastic within the back of the box.

The back of both the card and box both have the same imagery and no further details about the character itself.

And lets take a closer look at each of the characters…

ANGER

The most interesting character from Inside Out, at least from a visual standpoint, is Anger. This hot-headed 4″ figure has the character ready to flame-out any one who gets in his way. It’s funny that while other Disney/Pixar characters receive a heavily modified costume change, the only thing different about Anger from his film costume is that he ditched the tie.

Anger’s sculpt perfectly captures his fiery angry presence, highlighted with flaming yellow eyes and even some veins coming out from his shirt collar. The plastic for his flaming hair (and his sword) is a hard some-what transparent plastic. If there was a way to hollow-out Anger to put in a light, that would be a fun feature.

Articulation-wise, Anger is incredibly minimal. While he has seven points of articulation, six of which are in his arms, he’s very constrained in what he is able to do. He can twist his waist and he can lift up his arms into a T-shape. The wrists can swivel but doesn’t offer much more to what’s there.

Anger comes with a collectible bio card and his fire sword that can be held with either hand.

BAYMAX

Everybody’s favorite healer, Baymax is ready to go from companion to combat-ion. But this newly designed robot is a bit on the short side, at only 5″ tall. The more heavily armored Baymax received an amplified companion program that allows him to aid and protect.

His sculpt is pretty much what you’d expect out of a Baymax but with more heavily fortified arms and helmet. His paint scheme is more pearl white with an accented red that falls in line with what we expect of Baymax.

Baymax has eight points of articulation, with nothing below the belt line. There’s a joint at the neck, waist, and three in each arm. He comes with his collectible bio card but has no other accessories.

CAPTAIN HOOK

Perhaps my favorite of this wave is the dastardly Captain Hook, redesigned for the Mirrorverse. His facial expression is a bit more neutral than I’d prefer, but it’s still a good representation of this villain. Hook stands pretty tall at 7″ and has about 23 points of articulation, giving him a lot more range of posing than the others so far. The main issue here is that his cloak is a very hard plastic and getting him to any pose involving his legs will be near impossible. But at least you can get his hook right up to his mustache for a more menacing stance.

Captain Hook comes with his collectible bio card as well as a sword and base.

MALEFICENT

One of the most popular villains is Maleficent, and this version of the character is trapped in a state between sorceress and dragon. It’s an interesting design choice and the figure is pretty neat to look at, but similar to Hook, I do wish the face expression was more extreme rather than the more neutral look we have here.

Maleficent has sixteen points of articulation, but all above the waist. She has some of the more articulated arms in the entire line, but due to the winged arms, it severely limits her poseability. Her lower half is basically a solid dress piece without legs underneath, which actually works out okay since legs wouldn’t be necessary.

The included accessories is a collectible bio card, her staff, and an extension piece for her cloak.

DISNEY MIRRORVERSE WAVE 3 SUMMARY

If you’re a fan of Disney Mirrorverse, these are a really fun representation of the characters found in the game. While the assortment and variety of characters are great, the lack of actual articulation beneath the waist and the way they’re constructed does prevent any real posing abilities. They do just fine if you want them standing around, but getting them into any fights or battle stances is just not possible.
