We’re coming up on the Year of the Rabbit, so it makes sense the Lunar New Year 2023 merchandise highlights Disney’s familiar cotton-tailed characters. The Lunar New Year festivities have officially started at Disney California Adventure today, January 20, and guests can purchase these items at the Disneyland Resort. Many are also currently sold online on shopDisney. Let’s get a look at the goods!
While most of the items you’ll see below feature Disney rabbits, since that’s what many Asian cultures are celebrating this year (and Disney’s Asian parks are in China and Japan), you might find a few cats as well since the Vietnamese calendar calls for felines this year. Lucky for Disney, Oswald is a rabbit and his girlfriend Ortensia is a cat!
Lunar New Year 2023 Merchandise Offerings
Let’s start off with that good old accessory, the Ear Headband. This celebratory hairpiece features the White Rabbit (Alice in Wonderland) and Judy Hopps (Zootopia) on the front and Rabbit (Winnie the Pooh) and the bunnies in boots (Sleeping Beauty) on the back. The bow is made of a shimmery gold fabric with red fireworks embroidered in places. This Ear headband was created in collaboration with Loungefly.
But that isn’t the only item that Loungefly contributed to this collection. There’s a convertible backpack (it can change into a crossbody bag by moving the straps) and a cardholder, too!
And there are plenty of apparel options to choose from.
Or if you are hoping for something shinier, this necklace is decorated with two charms, a large Thumper one and a smaller flower one.
As for kitchen goods, the Lunar New Year 2023 merchandise collection includes a mug starring Thumper and Aurora’s rabbit friends. It also has a four-compartment serving dish with images of the White Rabbit, Judy Hopps, Thumper, and Miss Bunny.
This envelope set adds a Disney spin to the traditional lucky red envelopes gifted during Lunar New Year. This set includes 30 cards with 5 different designs, 30 envelopes, and a ballpoint pen. The characters on the card are Thumper, Miss Bunny, the White Rabbit, the March Hare, Judy Hopps, and the bunnies in boots.
With a portion of this year’s Lunar New Year coinciding with Disneyland’s Disney100 Celebration, it seems fitting that some of the merchandise include the rabbit that started it all, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. We spotted these trading pins themed to the character.
