This installment of the Disneyland Merchandise Update is filled with an eclectic mix of new items from the parks. In addition to fanciful footwear and awesome outfits, we’ll also look at tons of mugs, several fun playthings, and discuss some merchandise news from the edge of the galaxy and beyond! Let’s take a look…
Put Your Best Foot Forward
Disney recently announced a collaboration with Native Shoes, who make rubber (recyclable!) footwear. These shoes currently only have a few designs but I bet if they sell well (which, given the popularity of Crocs, is nearly guaranteed) more will materialize.
The adult sizes range from women’s size 5 to men’s size 12.
Kids’ shoes are available in sizes ranging from child’s 5 to juniors’ 3.
The Disney x Native shoes are currently available not only at Downtown Disney but also on shopDisney and at Walt Disney World (Disney Stores will get them later).
New Styles for You (and Your Pet, Too!)
Now that our feet are all dressed up, let’s freshen up the rest. A seriously huge amount of new clothing is now available at World of Disney so let’s take a look.
The arctic blue tie-dyed sweatshirt will match perfectly with the similarly colored tights.
I love natural tones on clothing (and just about everything else) so I am especially interested in this new line of clothing made with those colors. Most of the pieces are unisex but a few, like the goldenrod-hued, gathered crop top, were clearly made with women in mind.
Pastels are also quite pleasing to the eyes and there are several new options to choose from. This color block hoodie brings to mind those toy building blocks for toddlers.
You’ll also find tie-dyed items with Mickey and Minnie and others with the Disneyland logo.
These wraparound sweatshirts are a clever concept. Which one is your favorite, Slinky Dog or Simba and Nala?
We caught several baseball jerseys in our last update but a new design has been added to the roster with this Pizza Planet-themed option. Pixar fans remember Pizza Planet as a fast food joint in the original Toy Story. The dining location is also home to the Alien (AKA Little Green Men), one of which is on the front of the jersey.
We’ve seen plenty of the Reigning Cats and Dogs collection before but Disney keeps surprising us with new offerings. This time, we found these comfy-looking lounge pants.
Speaking of pets, several new dog shirts are available. Some are more what you would consider a “theme park souvenir shirt.”
There is also this Donald Duck cosplay shirt for your dog (or cat, I suppose). I really love this one and hope to see more in this style in the future.
Expand Your Mug Collection
Many new mugs were recently stocked at World of Disney.
Here is a Tangled-themed mug with the base shaped like a floating lantern and Rapunzel’s buddy Pascal serving as a handle.
Remember Marshmallow from Frozen? He now his very own mug, complete with a handle made up of Snowgies (seen in Frozen Fever).
On this mug, some of the puppies from 101 Dalmatians are tuning into Thunderbolt, their favorite show.
Toy Story fans have three new mugs to choose from. I suspect that the lidded Alien one originated in Walt Disney World, home of Toy Story Land’s Alien Swirling Saucers attraction.
Flipping your fins won’t get you far, as Ariel would say, but a cup of coffee definitely will. And you can now drink that coffee in a mug molded like a mermaid tail.
Are you a fan of the Disney Parks’ many mountainous roller coasters? You can showcase your love of Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain with this mug. It even bears the title “The Conqueror of Mountains.”
Alright, I admit this last one isn’t a mug but we still wanted to draw attention to this Monsters University travel tumbler with a straw. It has a Monsters U patch in-between the cup’s layers.
Odds and Ends
Who doesn’t love a good Ear Headband? This lovely yellow headband with a Poppy crown looks remarkably similar to a previous design but with a new yellow, blue, and red color scheme. Regardless, I find these to be thoroughly charming. Don’t you think the colors brings Snow White to mind?
I usually favor Tupperware for my cookie storage but would totally make an exception for this magical cookie jar, molded to resemble Sleeping Beauty castle.
It seems Disney Home is the place to look if you are in the market for the latest Beauty and the Beast merchandise. In addition to many items, we found last week, a good number more have cropped up.
Here are trinket trays designed after Main Street USA (with Sleeping Beauty Castle at the end!) as well as Disney California Adventure. Disney is making very clear that these things are absolutely not used with food with large and rather alarming warnings stuck on both of them.
Everyone’s favorite ghostly medium, Madame Leota, takes front and center in this wonderfully detailed snow globe. In addition to Leota herself, you’ll find the groundskeeper and his loyal hound along with the Hitchhiking Ghost trio on the base.
All of us Haunted Mansion lovers will be happy to know that wasn’t the only new piece of merchandise based on the attraction. This ID case with a matching lanyard was made by Loungefly. The imagery used is taken from the signage outside of the queue’s entrance as well as the ride’s creepy, all-seeing wallpaper.
This Sulley sling bag is my favorite item from this update. At first glance, you would expect it to be a fanny pack but it actually intended to be worn across your back or stomach or on your side. The opening to the bag’s zippered compartment is hidden among the scales on our monster friend’s back.
The most recent Wishables release, the “it’s a small world” series, is now available at World of Disney. The mystery bags contain either the clock, penguin, cactus, lavender hippo, or turquoise hippo. In addition to the plush friends found in the mystery bag, there is also a Kangaroo and Joey pair.
After a bit of a delay, the Everyday Cosplay outfits for Disney nuiMOs, which were first released at the beginning of the month, arrived at World fo Disney. These special outfits were designed by either Ashley Eckstein or Wes Jenkins. The new Valentine’s Day dress set can also be seen towards the bottom of this display.
And for those who are looking for some magic-infused multiplayer action, I would suggest The Game of Life: Disney Parks Theme Park Edition. A version of this game with a Haunted Mansion theme was previously available.
Other Merchandise Happenings
We’re not done quite yet! We still have a few more nuggets of merchandise news to cover.
The Star Wars Trading Post: A New Location
If you have been in Downtown Disney over the past few weeks, you may have noticed some commotion over at the old Rainforest Cafe area. Well, The Star Wars Trading Post, which previously had taken over the much-beloved Wonderground Gallery, was moving venues. Tuesday, February 16, marked the beginning of Legacy Passholder previews for the new location (it opened to the general public on February 19) and MiceChat has all the details:

February’s Stitch Crashes Disney Collection Series
The next round of Stitch Crashes Disney Collection of monthly merchandise releases will be available for purchase from shopDisney on February 26 at 7am Pacific and then in Disney Stores on February 27. As you may recall, this collection, which includes a plush, pin, and Magicband, takes Stitch and infuses him with parts of different classic Disney films. This month’s movie is Lady and the Tramp and Stitch is clearly crashing the two pups’ dinner date. I get, contextually, that the thing on his head is supposed to be spaghetti and meatballs but it certainly doesn’t look it.
And March, as they say, comes in like a lion so it makes sense that the following month’s theme should be The Lion King. And much like its predecessors, March’s design is, to put it charitably, unique. I will confess I like this design better than January’s or February’s but it still feels like they made an odd design choice with the bugs. I know, I know – the grubs are Timon and Pumbaa’s meal of choice but it looks a little off-putting (although not as much at February’s, to be fair). C’mon, Stitch! You have nine more months. You can still turn this collection around!
What do you all think of the designs used in this collection?
