It’s Christmas in July and Disney is giving us the gift of more merchandise (available to purchase, of course). There’s tons of ornaments, many MagicBands, a duo of dresses, and even some merchandise from Aulani. Get a mug of iced egg nog ready as we look into all these goodies for now and for the colder seasons ahead!
Ornaments Come Early
shopDisney has stocked 15 new ornaments (not counting the Aulani ones, which we will cover later on). Let’s take a look at some of the most interesting of ones.
The Aristocats 50th Anniversary Legacy Sketchbook Ornament ($24.99)
The Aristocats are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their film with this ornament (hence the “50” medallion). As you can see, Marie, Toulouse, and Berlioz are stuck in the pet door and they don’t look too pleased about it! The best part of this one is the siblings’ facial expressions. That and their cute little kitty bottoms hanging out the other end. They have bean toes. Bean toes! (Sorry, I get really excited when cat merchandise includes their precious, little toes.)

Tiana Fairytale Moments Sketchbook Ornament – The Princess and The Frog ($24.99)
Inspired by the ending from the film, we see Tiana standing proudly at the balcony of her restaurant, Tiana’s Palace. I particularly like that light can shine through the windows. I bet it would look lovely with Christmas lights behind it. And this is a small detail but the golden Fleur de Lis decorations along the top of the “building” is an architectural element that you actually would see in New Orleans.

Mary Poppins and Bert Singing Living Magic Sketchbook Ornament ($24.99)
Ms. Poppins and her pal Bert (with fuzzy chimney sweep brush in tow) are shown on a chimney top. What makes this ornament stand out from the others, it that it plays music. Push the button on the base to hear “Step in Time.” A second push will stop the melody. You’ll be shocked to hear that Mary Poppins isn’t one of my personal favorites, but I do appreciate the thought put into this ornament.

Moana Fairytale Moments Sketchbook Ornament ($24.99)
Here we see Moana with the Heart of Te Fiti, joined by her friends Hei Hei and the ocean (the ocean is a friend of hers, after all). The detail on Moana’s skirt drew my eyes immediately. It looks like it could in fact be woven fabric. The water is certainly lovely as well. But wow, I really love how they handled her outfit!

Winnie the Pooh Sketchbook Ornament ($19.99)
This one might be my favorite of the newly added ornaments. Sure, it is less extravagant but it’s the nostalgia and simplistically sweet design that captures my heart. That silly old bear, Winnie the Pooh, hangs from a translucent blue balloon by a corded string. And that little bee resting on his nose is the perfect touch. I really can’t get enough of this ornament.

MagicBands Return
It has been a long time since we have seen new MagicBands added to shopDisney’s inventory. But with Walt Disney World reopening, it makes sense for these techie accessories to make a comeback. The new selections include solid colors and new designs, in addition to a few special limited release ones now available for purchase. Here are some of the most noteworthy ones.
The Mickey Mouse Summer Slice MagicBand 2 – Limited Release ($29.99)
This style of art with summer fruits and treats (complete with a fabulous flamingo) was seen previously on apparel earlier this year. I am very happy to see it again on a MagicBand, although I am slightly disappointed that it is missing the flamingo… Mickey looks so excited to celebrate summer and that excitement is contagious. What a perfect seasonal option!
This MagicBand 2 is available here.

The Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back 40th Anniversary Magic Band 2 – Limited Release ($29.99)
The toy collector in me is fanatic about this design. The images of retro action figures found along the band are made in the likeness of characters found in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.
The MagicBand 2 is available here.

The Rainbow Collection Mickey Mouse MagicBand 2 ($24.99)
The Rainbow Collection launched in June to celebrate Pride Month, and it included this MagicBand. I really like the use of colors on Cinderella’s Castle. The MagicBand is also special because it has a puck that is a different color than the band.
This MagicBand 2 is available here.

The Cinderella Castle MagicBand 2 ($24.99)
Nothing says “Walt Disney World” as clearly as Cinderella Castle and that is the focal point of this MagicBand. This fancy-looking MagicBand has a white base decorated with gold accents. Along with the silhouette of Cinderella Castle, there are bursts of fireworks and the phrase “Where dreams come true.”
This MagicBand 2 is available here.

Playing Dress Up
Jungle Cruise Dress for Women ($128)
Part of the Disney Dress Shop Collection, this piece (also found in The Dress Shop at Disneyland’s Downtown Disney) is themed to the Jungle Cruise attraction found at Disneyland and Magic Kingdom. The print is covered with cartoon versions of some of the many animals you would spot on your ride. The front has two pleated chest pockets. The back of the collar reads “Jungle Cruise” in embroidered print. While I am quite disappointed that there was no mention of side pockets in the description, I just can’t get enough of that print! The humorous drawing style lends itself well to the comedic tone of the attraction it’s based on. Do you like the styling of this frock with the pockets at the chest?
This dress is available here.

Inside Out Dress for Women ($128)
This Disney Dress Shop dress is inspired by the Pixar film, Inside Out. Patterned across the flared skirt is a collection of Core Memories. On the top of the bodice’s front, you’ll spot embroidered icons signifying emotions of Joy, Anger, Fear, Sadness, and Disgust. The phrase “Every day is full of emotions” is embroidered on the back of the bodice. Speaking honestly, I think this dress has a clever design but it’s a bit plain compared to previous items from the Disney Dress Shop. I’d say the key to this dress is accessorizing!
This dress is available here.

Tropical Imports
And now we head across the sea to a tropical paradise, Disney’s Aulani. There are a handful of Christmas ornaments that feature Mickey and Minnie enjoying the Hawaiian sun, and it sure makes me wish I could be doing the same right now!
Mickey and Minnie Ornaments ($16 and $20 respectively, sold separately)
These wooden ornaments have a simple design but I think there are times where simplicity is all that’s needed. The front of each ornament has the face of either Mickey or Minnie. The back has the Aulani logo painted on it. Oddly, Minnie’s ornament costs a tad more than Mickey’s does. I can’t imagine her 3D flower cost Disney all that much to manufacture…
These ornaments are available here (Mickey, Minnie)

Mickey and Minnie Figural Ornament ($20)
This time, the ornament includes both Mickey and Minnie. The pair are doing the hula, while decked out in tropical attire. Minnie’s outfit even has glitter accents. I appreciate the detail of this one and the “sandy” base is fun touch.
This ornament is available here.

Mickey and Minnie 11-inch Plushes ($35 each, sold separately)
These plushes are made in a vintage style similar to the pair of wooden ornaments above. Mickey is equipped with his own ukulele while Minnie is snacking on a Mickey-shaped shaved ice. Fun fact, you actually can get shave ice with Mickey Ears at Aulani! I love the retro color scheme on these as well as their beachy outfits.
These plushes are available here (Mickey, Minnie).

Odds and Ends
Jungle Cruise Congo Queen Boat POP! Rides Figure by Funko ($39.99)
Disney has partnered with Funko to make this POP! Rides vinyl figure. It was initially created for Disneyland but, lucky for us, made its way to shopDisney instead. The figure shows one of the attraction’s skippers piloting the boat, Congo Queen. The figure resembles the actual boats originally found on the ride (they received a more rugged look in 1993). And the “Congo Queen” sign looks just like it would in real life. I also love that the box has has “Departing Daily” on it, a phrase you see entering the queue.
This figure is available here.

Sorcerer Mickey Mouse Plush Paint Can Wave 2 ($19.99)
We originally featured the Ink & Paint Collection earlier this year but it is making a comeback! And the collection’s mystery-plush-in-a-can is getting a second wave. The character is still Sorcerer Mickey but available colors are different. Which one would you want the most? If I had my druthers, it would be either the light green, lavender, or the multicolor.
This toy is available here. You can find the rest of shopDisney’s Ink & Paint Collection here.

One Last Thing. . .
Geeki Tikis The Golden Girls Ceramic Mugs Set of 4 ($98.99)
Okay, these aren’t actually sold at shopDisney —you’ll find them on Toynk. But since The Golden Girls are now part of the Disney family, I thought you’d find this to be a fun item to add. This set of 4 ceramic mugs are tiki-stylized versions of Rose, Blanche, Dorothy, and Sophia. I would have never expected to see the Golden Girls immortalized like this . . . but I LOVE it!
This tiki mug set is available to pre-order from Toynk. It will ship August 1, 2020.
