Not much time has passed since our last Merchandise Update but with all the new releases, we just couldn’t wait to share with youA! Our headliners this time include several Splash Mountain plushes, two new Loungefly lines, a whole lot of phone cases, and even more Lion King merchandise.
Pay a Visit to the Briar Patch
Splash Mountain celebrates its 30th Anniversary this month, so it makes sense that the newest Wishables series is themed to the attraction. Inside the blind bag, you’ll find either Br’er Fox, Br’er Bear, Br’er Frog, or Poppy Possum. The out-of-box chaser is Br’er Rabbit.
But those aren’t the only Splash Mountain toys released. Over in Critter Country, 18-inch plushes of Br’er Bear and Br’er Fox now join the already-available Br’er Rabbit. Br’er Bear comes with a stuffed club sewn into his left paw, while Br’er Fox has an impressively bushy tail.

Put a Bow on It
Several new ear headbands have also made their way to retail. This one actually doesn’t have ears but features an extra-large Minnie Mouse bow.
In fact, Mickey’s gal has received a new line highlighting herself with a focus on her instantly-recognizable bow.
This ID holder was spotted on the same display. It looks cute and is a great idea, but I have some concerns about its quality. In the bin where they were stored, several bows floated around detached from their holders. I suspect they are not affixed very securely.
Loungefly Away with Me
Two new Loungefly lines also hit shelves. The first of which is the Disney Parks Minis collection with a pattern of chibi-style Parks icons like Big Al, the Hat Box Ghost, and one of the skeletons from Pirates of the Caribbean. This line consists of a mini-backpack and a wristlet.
The second is the Disney Parks Collage line and, as you expect, its pattern resembles a collage made up of different retro Parks images. This line contains a mini-backpack and a wallet.
Just in Case
We’ve been seeing a lot of Otterbox phone cases in the Parks of late but that doesn’t mean that Disney’s D-Tech is a thing of the past.
These new phone cases have figures peeking up from the top of the case. Options are currently limited to Chip and Dale and Baymax. What characters would you like to see?
A while back, Junk Food collaborated with Disney to produce the Disney Parks Forever collection. From what we had previously seen, the collection mostly consisted of clothing but a Mickey Balloon phone case has been added.
Disney doesn’t seem to be dropping this trend of merchandising the Parks snacks anytime soon. Two new cases arrived with the edible theme, one from D-Tech and another by Otterbox. The Otterbox one has a built-in Popsocket, just like their Madam Leota case.
But if Otterbox can use gimmicks, so can D-Tech! A wallet-style phone case resembling the VHS case for the Lion King was spotted over at the Adventureland Bazaar.
A Lion Sleeps Tonight
That phone case wasn’t the only new Lion King item I spotted. Merchandise themed to the film seems to be coming out in waves, most likely to support the upcoming “live-action” Lion King remake that releases July 19.
There are several pieces of apparel that highlight the film’s new character designs.
The characters also sport their new look as Funko POP! figures.
This one was a surprise to see in the Parks. It is Simba toy, from Hasbro as part of their FurReal line. The Adventureland Bazaar had one out of the box as a demo and let me say, this thing is huge! I can’t imagine lugging one of these around the Resort all day.
There are also some new items made with the original art style. This kid’s hoodie lets kids cosplay as the lion-who-would-be-king.
This plush is part of the Disney Dream Friends line. It is large and floppy, making a great cuddle companion for afternoon naps. This plush is also significant because it marks a change in overall design for the Disney Dream Friends.
For reference, here are the previous Disney Dream Friends designs. They are similar to Pillow Pals. I personally prefer the new style. Here’s hoping Disney continues to make more like this.
More Plushes than You Can Shake a Churro at
June proved to be quite a month for plushes and I am most happy about it.
Another Cheshire Cat plush has arrived! This one is from Big Feet line and comes shortly after the debut of the feline as part of the Classic Cozy Knits collection (seen in our last update). It should be noted the latter is a limited release while the former is most likely open edition.
New Nightmare Before Christmas plushes of Jack, Sally, and Jack as Sandy Claws popped up in New Orleans Square. Their hangtags are the shape of Disney Store ones (rectangles) with graphics so I would wager that they are not exclusive to the Parks.
And in the last bit of plush news, Bunny has finally joined Ducky and the rest of his Toy Story 4 pals. And just like Ducky, this plush talks!
And Last but Not Least
We are getting towards the end of this Merchandise Update but we still have a few more items of note.
Another day, another Spirit Jersey release. This time, it’s a Briar Rose Gold Tie-Dye Spirit Jersey. Boy, that is a mouthful.
Several cloth headbands are now available for those with unruly bangs. The patterns on the bands are themed to the attractions, Haunted Mansion and it’s a small world, as well as Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
Splash Mountain isn’t the only one celebrating a 30th anniversary this year. The Little Mermaid animated film also hit that milestone and with it, came new merchandise. This Ear Headband is a highlight. The details on both sides of the band are nice touches.
Another item of note is this bubble wand.
Another Parks-exclusive Funko POP! figure was released. This time, it’s a bobble-head of Rocket Raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout.
These fun men’s shirts bearing quotes from Walt Disney were found in Elias & Co. in Disney California Adventure.
This last item on the agenda is the Disney Parks 2020 Calendar. The art on each month is inspired by locales at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. And as an added bonus, you can remove the pages afterward for display.
Thanks for joining me for this edition of the Disneyland Merchandise Update. Have a Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Day!
