The rain continues to pour down on the Disneyland Resort, but the excitement for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge remains palpable as the opening date for the new land is about to be confirmed. On Monday we shared news and photos about the new Star Wars land, as well as the opening day coverage of the Disneyland Food and Wine Festival. Today, we’ll look at everything else in the resort, including the soon-to-wrap-up parking structure, Dumbo everything, Marvel Land construction, hot new merchandise and dozens of little things from the Happiest Place on Earth.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Opening Date Set for May 31st at Disneyland
Galaxy’s Edge
Our friends over at Nearmap took some new photos of the main hub of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. These were taken on February 22nd, so they’re just about two weeks old.
To help you get a better feel for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, I’ve labeled the newest map with locations I can confirm. Some things to spot:
- The Red Fury TIE Echelon is installed at the First Order HQ
- A (nearly) completed Millenium Falcon
- Some interesting looking alleyways near Ronto Roasters, including a building with a square atrium
- General completion on most buildings
The Falcon looks great.
I swapped some guesses around. Hopefully, we can confirm more locations soon (the locations in red are guesses – can you help us confirm any of them?).
Stick around MiceChat and our social media channels, because the Galaxy’s Edge opening date should be announced today. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and we’ll let you know as soon as it’s confirmed.
Project Stardust
Sleeping Beauty Castle
We reported on the crane which appeared in the forecourt on Monday and the new repaired roofs were spotted heading to the park on Twitter.
Pretty sure I just drove behind part of Sleeping Beauty's Castle on the way to work this morning.#Disneyland #Anaheim pic.twitter.com/frmMhqnRCJ

New Orleans Square
Walls have come up across from the Haunted Mansion. It looks like more planter work will continue to widen the walkway leading to Critter Country.
Fantasmic!
Fantasmic will be returning to the Rivers of America tomorrow (Friday the 8th) at 9 and 10:30 P.M.
A few last minute details are being wrapped up to prepare for the return.
Captain Marvel
Captain Marvel premieres tonight at fine movie theaters everywhere, but she’ll also be appearing in person at Disney California Adventure’s Hanger 12 (the old Hollywood and Dine building)! She could begin appearing as soon as tomorrow.
The Instagram photo walls in this location have been covered up for now. An Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. logo has been placed on the building. The Hangar door to the building was wide open when we took these photos, which leads us to believe that the meet and greet experience will take place inside, in contrast to the outdoor meet and greets for Captain America and Spiderman just steps away.
Mardi Gras
Disneyland Celebrated Mardi Gras this week with very little fanfare. There were a few new food items and minimal decorations in New Orleans Square.
This year Disney added some Mardi Gras items to the menu at Cafe Orleans, French Market, and the Blue Bayou. Cafe Orleans has a Lemon Cake Roll-yall, French Market has Mardi Gras Coconut Cake, and the Blue Bayou has a specialty Meagre dish and a Royal Street Bundt Cake. They mentioned the Monte Cristo sandwich at Cafe Orleans, and while fantastic, it’s available all year round (which I’m glad for).
Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen is always dressed up for the occasion.
But they added additional balloons and streamers for the occasion. Festive.
Marvel Land
The Spider-Man attraction is starting to take shape as the former Bug’s Theater is reconfigured.
From the air, we can see that most of Marvel Land is a dirt lot at the moment, with the old Bugs Land bathrooms the lone untouched facility.
Mickey and Friends
The Mickey and Friends expansion is really taking shape. The rotunda’s steel roof structure is coming together and the entire structure is likely on track to be done well in time for Star Wars land.
The stairwells are getting some work done.
The escalators are nearing completion, the shortest one even has a roof.
Work also began on what will hold all the planters for the side of the parking structure.
New supports are coming in near the bottom.
The current side of the structure got a quick update to the brickwork around the escalators. They all now have color-coded bricks matching the color scheme on each level.
Mickey Exhibit
The former ESPN Zone will be taken over by a Mickey Mouse exhibit soon, but right now it’s still walled up and awaiting installation.
Black Tap
Work on Black Tap is progressing; but not much we can see quite yet.
Eastern Security Gate
The new permanent security tents are finished around the eastern entrance to the esplanade and look pretty good compared to the old tents. They’ll help keep things shadier during the hot summer months and the new lighting should help at night.
We’d have more photos for you, but we were asked not to take close-up pictures for security reasons. Not sure why, as the setup with bag check and scanners is just like they are using throughout the resort.
Merchandise
Merchandise seems to be coming and going at a frantic rate at the Disneyland Resort lately. Let’s take a look at some of the new sets.
Dumbo
To celebrate the upcoming release of Dumbo, both retro and modern Dumbo designs have popped up all over. Oddly enough, most of this seems to be retro Dumbo and not promotional items for the new film.
Food and Wine
They’ve really expanded Food and Wine merchandise this year. Some of it’s actually pretty nice looking.
For a festival about food and wine, though, there sure is a lot of beer merchandise:
I’m a fan of the Mickey Mouse design they’ve been using for Food and Wine this year, he’s got a cute pie eye design and oil pastel look.
Captain Marvel
The Captain Marvel merch is coming in full force for today’s premiere. Looks like they’ve really gone for stylizing her stars and stripes costume design into everything and it actually works really well.
Parks
Some new magnet sets for different attractions have come out.
Check out this Fun Wheel Pal-A-Round bottle opener.
Misc
It’s always interesting when we find merchandise for Hercules.
From zero to hero . . . just like that!
Disney still has a ton of porg merchandise with The Last Jedi tags on them.
This and That
The Luxo Jr. lamp has been working off and on again lately, but we noticed his operations have seemingly returned to normal this past week.
The Marceline’s Confectionary sign is looking a little worse for wear. For what is supposed to be a bright and cheery establishment, the awning looks stained and gross. The interior could use an update as well. It all feels dated compared to all the fresh and new establishments in Downtown Disney recently.
That’s it from the Disneyland Resort this week. What are your thoughts on our guesstimated Star Wars land map locations? Are you looking forward to Fantasmic’s return? Does Captain Marvel have staying power like Black Panther and the Guardians, or will her meet and greet be a short lived one? We’d love to hear from you!
