Disneyland was a real circus last Thursday! At least, it was for the many Annual Passholders (and we do mean many) who attended the AP Preview of the Parks-exclusive Sneak Peek for the upcoming film, “Dumbo.”
Just past the turnstiles into Disneyland, signs directed guests to the Disney Gallery.
The Preview started at 5pm but the line began to form several hours prior. By the time the clock struck 5, the queue snaked back and forth several times in front of the Disney Gallery, Disneyana, and the Mad Hatter on Main Street, U.S.A.
We spotted this wonderful Timothy Q. Mouse cosplayer during our time in line. Quite a few guests wore Dumbo ears or other similarly themed accessories.
Perhaps the most eye-catching of the displays at the Disney Gallery greets guests soon after they enter the building. A character maquette of that adorable pachyderm, Dumbo, was an instant fan-favorite. We witnessed many a selfie taken in front of him.
Behind the maquette, concept art for the new movie lines the walls.
In the adjacent section of the gallery was a display housing two costumes, one for the character V.A. Vandervere and another for Colette Marchant.
We were soon ushered into the theater normally used for Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, but caught this notice right as we entered:
We were in the very first group to see the Sneak Peak and as a special treat, a representative from the Walt Disney Studios welcomed us before the screening began.
The following isn’t the preview video we saw, but it gives you a good ideal of the dark and fanciful look of the new Dumbo.
After the preview concluded, Passholders received two very special gifts: a rather sturdy poster and a set of two buttons.
While the gifts were exclusive to the event, the Sneak Peek is open to all guests. “Dumbo” soars into theaters March 29.
To help you to get decked out for the movie, Disney has a load of new merchandise at the Disneyland Resort. Let’s check it out!
Currently, the best place to find Dumbo-themed items is the World of Disney store in the Downtown Disney District. They even have a whole display dedicated to the character!
Apparel for both men and women is available. The retro poster art on the men’s shirt is particularly eye-catching.
The children’s shirt is from the Disney Parks Work Your Magic line of apparel.
Even the youngest of the family can be included in the Dumbo fandom. This layette set includes a blanket, bodysuit, shorts, and headband. The stylized art style on the box and bodysuits are darling!
These long socks have floppy, elephant ears!
The Parks’ Dumbo the Flying Elephant attraction gets some love with this magnet designed after the ride vehicle.
The only merchandise we spotted that was designed in the live-action art style was this mug.
If you still want to drink a hot beverage with an elephant but the live-action look isn’t for you, there is also a mug with a classic Dumbo on it (it’s cheaper, too).
Love plush toys? There are plenty of Dumbo-themed offerings available.
Are you a Dumbo fan? Looking forward to the new film? Can’t live without any of the merchandise items? We’re looking forward to hearing from you below!
