At long last, Disney has confirmed the opening date for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland. Are you ready to jump feet first into the Star Wars fray? Here’s what you need to know:
STAR WARS LAND OPENING DATES
Both Disneyland and Walt Disney World versions of Galaxy’s Edge will open earlier than expected but as a “Rolling” opening, where most everything will be open except for the Rise of the Resistance attraction (which will open later). This allows guests to start enjoying the Star Wars universe early since the project is nearly complete.
Opening date for Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland is: May 31st
And the opening date for Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World is: August 29th
The new Star Wars land is the biggest expansion in Disneyland history. Based upon the biggest entertainment franchise in the galaxy, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is expected to generate unprecedented demand among tourists and annual passholders alike.
As a result of expected demand, guests will need to make a no cost reservation to visit the land. Information on how to make that reservation will come at a later date. Most of our readers will likely be thrilled that they won’t need to wait in an epic line just to enter the land. We assume that MaxPass (and/or traditional Fastpass) will be involved somehow in the reservation for the land.
Fastpass and Maxpass will NOT be offered on the Millennium Falcon ride when it first opens. Rather than controlling the number of guests on the ride, Disney will instead focus on metering the number of guests in the land as a whole. It’s a system we applaud as it will allow guests to better interact with the elements in the land, use the Disney Play app, wait in reasonable length lines, and enjoy the queue immersion. This system is NOT expected to be needed at Walt Disney World when their land opens in August.
STAR WARS LAND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
