Get those Galactic Credits ready! Set in Black Spire Outpost against a backdrop of an ancient petrified forest, the new Star Wars land, Galaxy’s Edge, is intricately detailed and chock full of merchandise and food that fits into the theme of the exotic planet of Batuu.

, The Shop Side: Your Guide to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Restaurants and Shops

The marketplace was inspired by bazaars from around the world, including places like Jerusalem, Morocco, and Turkey. As such, the “owners” of the shops live above them in second story apartments.

, The Shop Side: Your Guide to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Restaurants and Shops

There are also no “evergreen” Star Wars products, meaning everything is custom made for Galaxy’s Edge. If you’re looking for anything that says “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” on it, you’ll need to make your way to the second story of Star Wars Launch Bay in Tomorrowland.

There are two interactive shops that will certainly be popular:

Droid Depot

Interested in owning a droid of your own? Kids of all ages will be able to build their very own R2 or BB unit of their own design. The back wall is a huge conveyer belt full of droid parts. All guests have to do is pull the parts they went and take it to a workbench to assemble.

, The Shop Side: Your Guide to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Restaurants and Shops

Both inside and outside of the Depot, full-sized droids are on display that guests can interact with. Some will even interact with the Datapad in the Play Disney app. The droids you build yourself are about the size of your average coffee machine (there’s a photo of one in a box below), are remote controlled and can interact with various elements around Black Spire Outpost, including other droids.

, The Shop Side: Your Guide to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Restaurants and Shops

Don’t want to build your own? Pre-built droids are also available, including a C-3PO which speaks (Disney suggests trying to taking his head off and put it on backward, definitely a reference to when Chewbacca does that in Empire Strikes Back). DJ R-3X is also available, he’s actually a Bluetooth speaker.

A custom droid at Droid Depot will run you $100 plus any extra modifications available.

Savi’s Workshop

, The Shop Side: Your Guide to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Restaurants and Shops

Guests can build their very own custom lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop. It’s a guided tour where 14 guests at a time are taken through an experience which lasts about 20 minutes. Guests have said this was one of the most emotional experiences they’ve had in Galaxy’s Edge. The show itself is well choreographed and performed by the Gatherers, citizens that have dedicated their life to balancing the Force.

, The Shop Side: Your Guide to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Restaurants and Shops

You’ll be guided by the Gatherers, employees who have dedicated their life to balancing the Force. They will help you find a personal connection to a Kyber Crystal and to the Force. As a bonus, those kyber crystals can also be popped into holocrons, each one coded with wisdom. The experience is inspired by scenes like this one from Star Wars: The Clone Wars:

If you’ve taken a tour of Ollivander’s at Universal Studios, it’s a similar experience, but much more personal.

Currently, there are four options of lightsabers to choose from:

  • Peace Justice: modeled after Jedi from the Republic era
  • Power Control: modeled after the Sith
  • Elemental Nature: harnessing air, earth, fire and water (using more natural materials in the hilt like Rancor tooth or sacred wood)
  • Defense: more ancient and archaic versions (sort of medieval)

While more colors are available at Dok-Ondar’s, Savi has these colors on hand:

  • Red
  • Blue
  • Green
  • Purple

Your lightsaber’s blade and sound effects will be dependent upon what kyber crystal you choose, so choose wisely. These things are more display units than actual toys, though, they’re surprisingly heavy and mostly made of metal instead of plastic.

Lightsabers from Savi’s should be more detailed and advanced than current ones available at Disney Parks. To be able to experience Savi’s Workshop, a $200 payment is required up front which pays for your workshop experience, lightsaber hilt, kyber crystal, blade, and a carrying case. Get to the workshop early if you don’t want to wait in a long line.

Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities

, The Shop Side: Your Guide to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Restaurants and Shops

Pick up a rare treasure at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, which sells rare items from across the galaxy, including legacy lightsabers and Jedi and Sith relics. Dok-Ondar himself is an animatronic Ithorian who can haggle with guests . . . but don’t expect a deal. He sits behind his desk where he checks inventory, takes calls, and barks orders at assistants. He also responds to guests with varying responses depending on how much respect they show his business.

Here are some merchandise pieces that will be available at Dok-Ondar’s shop.

Merchant Row

The main marketplace is called Merchant Row and is on the western part of Black Spire Outpost. It’s home to a myriad of small stalls all selling specialized in-universe merchandise.

Toydarian Toymaker

For your inner child, look no further than Zabaka’s Toydarian Toymaker stall. The artisan-style plush characters, wood and tin toys, and instruments are meant to look like she made them herself. You might recall that Wotto, the junk dealer and owner of Shmi (Anakin’s slave mother) and Anakin Skywalker from The Phantom Menace, were both Toydarians. Zabaka uses stories she hears from travelers about people like Finn, Chewbacca, and even bad guys like Kylo Ren and stormtroopers to create toys for all the galactic children.

Creature Stall

, The Shop Side: Your Guide to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Restaurants and Shops

Bina’s creature stall sells creatures from across the galaxy like porgs, tauntauns, and wampas. These aren’t meant to be stuffed animals, but actual pets you’re adopting. All the creatures have some sort of action, the tauntaun squawks and coos, the rathtars shudders, the worrt sticks out his tongue, and the pufferpig growls softly.

, The Shop Side: Your Guide to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Restaurants and Shops

The stall will be home to full-sized decorative figures of some creatures as well. A Loth-cat (from Rebels, indigenous to Lothal) sleeps softly in the middle of the shop. A Worrt (From Return of the Jedi, toad-like creatures that live on Tatooine in places like Jabba’s Palace) lives in a box on one of the shelves.

Jewels of Bith

This stall is more like your usual Disney gift shop. Lanyards, pins, keychains, postcard, and everything of that sort are sold here, but they’re all themed to Black Spire Outpost. It’s almost like going to a visitor’s center of a city or a National park.

, The Shop Side: Your Guide to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Restaurants and Shops

Black Spire Outfitters

A small apparel shop, Black Spire Outfitters is all Star Wars inspired outfits. Everything comes in pieces so you don’t have to buy an entire outfit at one time and you can mix and match.

Kat Saka’s Kettle

While you’re shopping in Merchant Row, stop by and pick up some of Kat Saka’s Outpost Popcorn Mix. It’s a blend of sweet and spicy flavors and you can even have it served in a Mouse Droid souvenier bucket.

On the furthest west and east parts of Galaxy’s Edge, the two feuding factions, the Resistance and the First Order, have set up booths to sell merchandise signifying your allegiance.

Resistance Supply

In a makeshift location at the Resistance HQ, this stall sells Resistance pins, badges, hats, and other accessories to help guests feel part of the cause.

First Order Cargo

, The Shop Side: Your Guide to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Restaurants and Shops

The First Order is trying to win the hearts and minds of the locals with merch and propaganda at this temporary storage dock marked by the Red Fury’s TIE Echelon (a new model we haven’t seen yet). The small shop will be selling caps, gear, model ships, pins and more to those who want to pledge their allegiance to the First Order

Something you’ll find around Batuu is that all the food you’re eating has some sort of canonical meat or plant source, it’s a way to keep everything feeling Star Wars. We’ve already mentioned the popcorn in Merchant Row, but here are the other restaurant and drink locations:

Oga’s Cantina

It’s official, you can now get alcoholic beverages at Disneyland at Oga’s Cantina. Drinks are served in unique vessels with interesting preparations (think bubbles, fog, colors, and illumination) that come pre-mixed and pour out of the taps in the middle of the room. This is the only publicly available bar in all of Disneyland, so it’s sure to be highly sought after. However, you can’t order off-menu – that means if you’re looking for a vodka tonic, you’d best continue your search in another star system. You’re also restricted to two alcoholic drinks per person and the beverages must be consumed inside the Cantina – you won’t see guests walking around Black Spire Outpost with alcohol in their hands.

The cantina is run by Oga Garra, an alien crime boss. She’s said to be lurking in the shadows, so you may find signs of her but never physically see her. It’s a den of scum and villainy, where you’ll find the walls full of blaster-bolt scorches and people looking to fly under the radar; we can see why Hondo loves this place. This is also where you’ll find DJ R-3X, formerly Captain Rex of Star Tours, where he provides music entertainment for guests.

Ronto Roasters

, The Shop Side: Your Guide to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Restaurants and Shops

This quick-service establishment uses a repurposed pod racer engine as a grill. It’s a quirky and fun tie-in to the Star Wars universe designed to draw fans deeper into the story. The owner Bakkar’s former smelter droid, 8D-J8, turns the (prop) spit and loves to complain about his job.

At this restaurant, you’re eating a Ronto, but it’s actually sausage and pork.

In the Star Wars films, a Ronto is a gentle pack animal used for hauling things around. I almost feel bad eating it. Almost.

Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo

Another quick eatery is in a Docking Bay. It takes its inspiration from the Japanese Tsukiji Fish Market and has a gritty feel. The food is “made” in a modified Sienar-Chall Utilipede-Transport (so a bit like a food truck) that sits above the building. This establishment has a creative menu, served up by Chef Strono “Cookie” Tuggs, a former employee of Maz Kanata. This is the main spot for you to dine in the new land.

, The Shop Side: Your Guide to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Restaurants and Shops
Guests will discover innovative and creative eats from around the galaxy at Star Wars: GalaxyÕs Edge at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, and at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo is a designated location for traveling food shuttles. Chef Strono ÒCookieÓ Tuggs is in much demand for his culinary skills, so he moves from site to site in a modified Sienar-Chall Utilipede-Transport that becomes a mobile kitchen and restaurant. Milk Stand

Many Star Wars fans have been wanting to drink some blue milk ever since Luke Skywalker took his first sip in the original Star Wars film, and those fans will be happy that there’s a dedicated stand to selling both blue and green milk. While we’re wondering what banthas might consume to create blue milk, the food and beverage teams decided to make the milk a plant-based drink that uses a blend of coconut and rice milk instead of traditional dairy so more guests could enjoy it. Similar to the blue milk, thala-siren produced green milk from The Last Jedi will also be available.

Straight from the Bubo Wamba family farm, Blue Milk is berry and melon flavored, Green Milk is lemon and citrus. Both are soft-frozen like a milkshake and taste a lot like a smoothie.

We’re very excited by the variety of merchandise and food options at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. A lot of thought was put into what made sense in the Black Spire Outpost setting and we’re excited for everyone to try all the different options. What’s the next big merchandise or food trend at Disneyland? What are you excited to buy and excited to eat?
