Sometimes the flashiest D23 announcements don’t get the biggest reaction from Disney fans. That was certainly the case at the Experiences Presentation on Saturday Night when several “smaller” Walt Disney World reveals received the largest cheers.
So, let’s all give three cheers for these three Walt Disney World announcements!
Spaceship Earth
Epcot’s icon Spaceship Earth, is finally getting an update. After almost 20 years, the beloved attraction will be reimagined to bring its storyline into the internet age… and beyond. Imagineers will be refreshing and adding “new magic” in every scene. Disney is also expanding the attraction’s theme from the history of communication to the theme of human connection.

Figment and Dreamfinder
Based on the rousing cheers from the Honda Center audience, the surprise announcement that a reimagining of Journey Into Imagination is a dream come true.

Figment will remain in the Imagination pavilion but the little purple dragon will finally be reunited with his friend Dreamfinder, who will return for the new adventure!

Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain
The legendary monster that once terrorized the Himalayas is coming back to life.

Yes, it’s true! The iconic Yeti Audio-Animatronics figure deep within Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain at Animal Kingdom—known as “Disco Yeti” due to the strobe light effects that masked the fact that he’s been frozen for years—will finally be revived.

According to former Imagineer (and Disney Legend) Joe Rohde, the Yeti is part of the attraction’s structure, so it’s not just a simple and remove and replace situation. Over the years, Imagineers have revisited the Disco Yeti problem, but they hadn’t been able to come up with a way to fix him… until now.
Carousel of Progress
The Carousel of Progress, which closed on July 6, 2026, will reopen in late spring 2027 with four new decades and a new scene with the Florida’s first Walt Disney Audio-Animatronics figure.

Concept art for the new Act II scene, which will take place in the 1980s and the imagined future of the new Act IV was revealed during the Disney Experiences Showcase:

The imagined future in Act IV will feature a retro mid-century aesthetic.
Disney offered a first look at Act I and Act IV for the reimagined Carousel of Progress in the Imagineering Pavilion.

But the icing on the D23 cake was the announcement that the attraction’s beloved mother and father will be voiced by Disney Legend Jamie Lee Curtis and Emmy Award-winning Bryan Cranston.
But we already knew Jamie was a fan.

Let’s Hear From You!
Are you happy that Imagineers are finally updating (and fixing) these three iconic Walt Disney World attractions? What do you think about the voice casting for Mother and Father in Carousel of Progress? And can you believe the Yeti will finally be fixed… and that simply fixiing an effect in a ride… which should ALWAYS have been working… is now big D23 news?! Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

I mean, I’m glad they’re fixing the disco Yeti. But I totally get why they kept it on the downlow. I think it’s rather embarrassing that they have waited so long to fix this issue.
