Walt Disney World is known for attractions, fireworks, and highly themed lands across its four theme parks. But just beyond that magical spotlight sits another part of the destination that doesn’t always get the same attention: Walt Disney World Golf, which includes three 18-hole golf courses, two themed mini golf locations, instructional programs for adults and kids, and much more.

Disney's Magnolia Golf CourseJust this week, former Disney CEO Michael Eisner spoke about the golf courses at Walt Disney World:

“We learned at Walt Disney World: Make our golf courses easy”

Eisner went on to explain that many people go to Walt Disney World for a week, and not everyone wants to spend all that time in the parks, but they’re also on vacation, so the goal is always to provide a positive experience.

Eisner pointed out:

“Playing golf, they want to think they did well”

So, what did Disney do? They made the courses easier and more enjoyable to play with a higher chance of success.

Walt Disney World Golf, Walt Disney World Golf Guide: The Happiest Place on Turf!
While golf probably won’t replace the parks for most guests (and it’s not trying to), it does offer a quieter Disney experience that often catches people off guard once they discover it. From full championship courses to mini golf and lessons, there’s a surprising amount to do if you’re willing to step away from the rides for a few hours.

So, let’s take a look at everything available at The Most Magical Place on Turf!

Walt Disney World Golf, Walt Disney World Golf Guide: The Happiest Place on Turf!

Golfing Across Disney World

Walt Disney World Golf isn’t a single experience. It’s a network of courses, each with its own personality and pace. Some lean towards the traditional, some are more relaxed, and a few sit somewhere in between. What ties them together is that they’re all within the footprint of Walt Disney World Resort, just a short drive from the parks.

For Orlando locals and frequent golfers, the Player’s Club Pass at $49/month is worth considering to streamline multiple rounds. It also includes exclusive discounts.

Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course

Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course remains one of the most recognizable golf experiences on property. Named for the magnolia trees in the surrounding landscape, it feels like a classic Florida championship course that just happens to sit inside Walt Disney World.

The layout is long, stretching more than 7,500 yards from the back tees, and it does not hide its difficulty. Water comes into play on 11 holes, fairways are generous but not forgiving if you miss them in the wrong spots, and the bunkering is very much in play throughout the round.

Walt Disney World Golf, Walt Disney World Golf Guide: The Happiest Place on Turf! What separates Magnolia from a standard resort course, though, is the way Disney weaves itself in subtly. Hole names reference Disney stories, and quotes from Walt Disney and Arnold Palmer appear throughout the course without ever feeling forced or overdone.
It is also one of the more “complete” golf experiences on property, with a driving range, practice areas, and food and beverage options nearby, including Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Deli right by the putting green.

If you’re planning to play here, the one consistent piece of advice is simple: arrive early to give yourself time to actually use the practice facilities.

  • What’s Nearby: Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Magic Kingdom Park.
  • Required Attire: Golfers may wear shoes with metal spike alternatives, or tennis shoes. Proper golf attire is also required; denim is not permitted.

Disney’s Palm Golf Course

Right next door, Disney’s Palm Golf Course feels like Magnolia’s quieter, slightly more strategic sibling. This course was redesigned in 2013 and it shows in the details. Greens were reshaped, bunkering was tightened up, and tree lines were adjusted in a way that gives the course a more modern and deliberate feel.

Palm 13 at Disney WorldPalm plays just under 7,000 yards, but it rarely feels like a “distance” course. Instead, it asks for patience. Water is in play on multiple holes, bunkers are placed in ways that demand decision making rather than intimidation, and the layout tends to reward the player who is willing to think their way around rather than force their way through.

There are scoring opportunities here, but they are earned rather than given. If Magnolia is the headliner, Palm is a quieter round that often ends up sticking with you a bit longer than expected.

Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course

Lake Buena Vista Golf Course tends to sit a little off the radar compared to Magnolia and Palm, but has long been one of the more interesting championship layouts on Disney property.

The course winds through lakes, pines, and open stretches of Florida landscape that feel noticeably less themed and more natural in tone. That is not a criticism. In fact, it is part of its appeal. The course is also in line for a series of infrastructure upgrades, including improvements to greens, irrigation, and drainage systems. While that may not sound exciting on paper, anyone who plays golf regularly knows those are the kinds of changes you actually feel when you are out there.

LBV Golf CourseHistorically, Lake Buena Vista has also hosted PGA, LPGA, and USGA-related events, which gives it a level of pedigree that sometimes gets overlooked in the broader Disney conversation. From the back tees, it stretches a little over 6,700 yards and plays more as a placement course than a power test. There is enough challenge to keep better players honest, but it remains accessible for a wide range of skill levels.

And perhaps its most underrated feature is location. Being this close to Disney Springs means your round can easily roll into an afternoon or evening off the course without much effort.

  • Location: 2200 Golf Drive, Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830.
  • What’s Nearby: Disney Springs, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, and Disney’s Old Key West Resort.

Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course

Just near Magnolia, Oak Trail Golf Course is a different kind of golf experience entirely. This is a 9-hole walking course, designed for shorter play and a slower pace. It is ideal for anyone who wants to play a round without committing to a full 18 holes or dealing with the intensity of a championship layout.

Oak Trail Golf Course - Disney WorldDespite its size, Oak Trail still offers variety. Hole lengths range widely, and water comes into play on a few sections, particularly around holes 5 through 7 where the routing runs near a canal and pond system. Oak Trail is also one of the more family-friendly golf options at Walt Disney World, with junior tees and a layout that suits newer players.

As a walking-only course, the pace naturally slows down. It also feels more connected to its surroundings, and it’s not uncommon to spot local wildlife. That’s because Oak Trail is part of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program, which helps preserve the natural environment. This course is not trying to be a championship test, but simply a calm, approachable round in a Disney setting.

  • Location: 1950 West Magnolia Palm Drive, Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830.
  • What’s Nearby: Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Magic Kingdom Park.
  • Required Attire: Golfers may wear shoes with metal spike alternatives or tennis shoes. Proper golf attire is also required; denim is not permitted.
  • Carts: Not available at this location, but pull carts can be rented.
  • Pro Shop and Rentals: Available at this location for both right- and left-handed golfers.
  • Reservations and Tee Times: Click HERE

FootGolf (a hybrid of soccer and golf) can also be played on a certified 9-Hole FootGolf course at Oak Trail. Tee times can be booked to play 9 holes of FootGolf either in front of or behind those playing 9 holes of traditional golf.

Winter Summerland Miniature Golf

Near Animal Kingdom and Blizzard Beach, Winter Summerland Mini Golf leans fully into storytelling in a way that only Disney can really get away with. The premise is simple and slightly ridiculous (but in the best way): Santa discovers snow in Florida, returns later, and builds a vacation retreat for his elves.

That idea becomes two separate mini-golf courses, the beach-themed Summer course and the holiday-themed Winter, which leans into snow and traditional Christmas imagery (even in the Florida heat).

Disney World Winter Summerland Mini Golf

Neither course is trying to be difficult. That’s not the point. This is very much a “walk in, play a round, laugh a bit, and move on” kind of experience that fits neatly into a non-park day.

  • Location: 1548 W Buena Vista Drive, Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830.
  • What’s Nearby: Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
  • Reservations and Tee Times: Walk-ups available or call (407) WDW-PLAY.

Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf

Near the EPCOT resort area, Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Mini Golf offers two completely different experiences under one name.

The Gardens course is pure Disney. It pulls directly from Fantasia, with musical cues, animated scenes, and whimsical set pieces that can feel closer to a dark ride than a mini golf course.

Fantasia Gardens Mini Golf at Disney WorldThe Fairways course, on the other hand, takes a more traditional golf approach and shrinks it down to kid-size. It features sand traps, water hazards, and sloping greens that actually require a bit of skill. Of the two, Fairways is the one that tends to surprise people the most.

Together, they make one of the more flexible mini golf stops on the property, depending on whether you want themed fun or something closer to a practice-style challenge.

  • Location: 1205 EPCOT Resorts Blvd, Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830.
  • What’s Nearby: Walt Disney World Swan, Walt Disney World Dolphin, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
  • Reservations and Tee Times: Walk-ups available or call (407) WDW-PLAY.

More Magic on the Fairway

Beyond getting out on the course, Walt Disney World Golf offers opportunities to learn, improve, and even take part in long-running traditions. From instruction with PGA professionals to unique milestones and added conveniences for traveling golfers, there are opportunities for guests to incorporate golf into their vacation.

Golf Lessons

Golf instruction at Walt Disney World is one of those offerings that many guests never really consider, but the program is more robust than you might expect.

PGA professionals offer lessons in several formats, ranging from short 45-minute sessions to half-day instruction and full golf school programs. Guests may also receive video analysis, group instruction, or more focused one-on-one coaching.

For traveling golfers, there’s also the convenience of club shipping services, which allow guests to send their equipment directly to the resort, eliminating one of the more annoying parts of flying with golf gear.

Hole in One Club

There’s a long-standing tradition known as the Hole in One Club. Any golfer who manages to make an ace on a Walt Disney World course can be recognized with a certificate and, in some cases, have their achievement featured on GolfWDW.com. It is a small but memorable part of Disney golf history that has built up over decades.

Golfing at Magnolia - Disney WorldAcross the resort, pro shops also carry Disney-themed Walt Disney World Golf merchandise featuring characters like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Grumpy, which has become a bit of a niche draw for Disney fans who also play golf.

Gift cards are also available for purchase.

I never learned to golf… but now that I’m older, I really wish I had. But I have visited Fantasia Mini Golf at Walt Disney World. Fun for a day you don’t have theme park admission… but there are crazier miniature golf courses in the Orlando area. The best is probably the Hollywood Drive-In Golf at Universal Studios. They have a haunted side and a sci-fi side. Both are great… but I LOVE the haunted side. So much fun.
