As Florida theme parks begin to reopen, there are some additional outdoor activities that are popping up as well. Many guests are so focused on theme parks, water parks, and hotels, that they don’t realize that Walt Disney World also has two mini-golf locations. One of those courses opened recently and we decided to check it out!
Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf
Located near the Epcot hotels, next to the Swan and Dolphin resort area, Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf offers two courses.
Fantasia Fairways
The first course is the Fantasia Fairways. With sand traps, sloping greens and water hazards. It’s a classic style mini-golf course. This course doesn’t seem to be as popular as the second course (which I’ll show you in a moment). Both times we have visited, it was empty.
Fantasia Gardens Mini-Golf
The second option is the Fantasia Gardens course. If you haven’t guessed already, the course is themed to the classic Disney movie Fantasia. Each hole moves you through the different scenes of the movie. Don’t forget to read the poems that start you off in the right direction.
And while there are mushrooms, dancing hippos, and even Mickey Mouse, just like the movie, not everything is sugar and spice. As magical as everything is, you’ll still need to have some mini-golfing skills to come out on top!
Beware of the Magic Brooms and Chernabog.
And in the end, Yensid saves the day. Or does he? After all he doesn’t return your ball.
Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course
Right now, Fantasia Gardens and Fairways is the only mini-golf course open at Walt Disney World. The other course, Winter Summerland Miniature Golf will remain closed during WDW’s phased reopening. While you can’t play the course at the moment, we thought you might enjoy some pictures from a previous visit to Winter Summerland Miniature Golf. Located next to Blizzard Beach Waterpark, it carries over the similar theme of an unexpected summer blizzard. It also has two courses, one summer and one winter theme. These pictures are of the summer side.
Safety Precautions
Safety precautions have become the norm. With temperature checks, social distancing no-touch purchases, this isn’t anything new or out of the ordinary by today’s standards.
Golf balls in various colors are placed on display, and you are provided one from the basket. Announcements were also periodically made with a reminder to keep your masks on. Upon return, golf clubs were placed in a bucket with a liquid cleaner.
A handwashing station is available about halfway through the course.
Prices are in line with other mini-golf options in the Orlando area (currently $14 for ages 10 and up and $12 for children 3-9). Discounts are available for Annual Passholders and DVC members. You can also receive a discount for a second game the following day.
