“Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home”… and right now, the welcome mat is out. Pack your trunk and head to Hogsmeade — the school term is officially back in session.

From now through September 1, Universal Studios Hollywood is celebrating the return to the wizarding classroom. Guests are encouraged to proudly wear their house colors (Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, or Ravenclaw) while roaming the cobblestone streets of Hogsmeade.

September 1 is the official “Back to Hogwarts Day,” celebrated by Potter fans worldwide as the day the Hogwarts Express departs from Platform 9¾. But Universal Studios Hollywood is celebrating right now.

Once inside The Wizarding World, you can:

  • Strike a pose at the Hogwarts Express with the friendly train conductor (a bit less stern than the one who scolded Harry about Chocolate Frogs). He even has banners so you can show your house pride.

  • Test your magical mettle by casting spells at interactive locations across Hogsmeade — “Wingardium Leviosa”… swish and flick, please.

  • Sample a Butterbeer in all its glorious forms: cold, frozen, hot, ice cream, or fudge.

  • Meet a fantastic beast! You might just spot a creature from the Fantastic Beasts films!

  • Stock up on school supplies at the local shops, including a refreshed Hogwarts Crest collection with new apparel and accessories fit for any witch or wizard.

This is where Universal really shines this year. There are all sorts of things for wizards, young and old, from gear with house logos to our favorite new items with owls on them.

Some of the new house shirts have raised lettering. It looks really cool, but we’re wondering how it will hold up after washing.

A new backpack allows you to stow your wand on the bag strap.

And a line of items featuring the Hogwarts logo, with all 4 houses represented, is also available throughout the land.

Whether you’re here for the spells, the snacks, or the shopping, remember what Dumbledore said: “One can never have enough socks.” Or, in this case… Butterbeer.
