Butterbeer Season is back! The delicious annual event at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort will return to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter from March 1 – May 31, 2026… But we think Harry Potter’s favorite drink deserves to be celebrated all year long.
Celebrations in California and Florida both feature exclusive treats, but this year, the new signature item is the Butterbeer Waffle, which will be available for a limited time at the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade (Hollywood and Orlando) and the Leaky Cauldron in Diagon Alley (Orlando).
Let’s take a look at all the sweet treats available during Butterbeer Season 2026…
What is Butterbeer?
The delicious wizarding drink (described as a combination of butterscotch and shortbread) is served in magical cafes, pubs, and shops across the wizarding world. But thankfully, non-wizarding folks (AKA muggles) can enjoy Butterbeer at Universal theme parks in California and Florida.
“The No. 1 activity people come to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter for is to have a Butterbeer,” said Steven Jayson, the Universal Orlando Executive Chef challenged to bring the magical beverage to life in 2010. “It’s the most iconic thing we’ve created.”
The beloved wizarding beverage is not only available as cold, frozen, hot— and even non-dairy— drinks, but also in the form of fudge, potted cream (similar to a custard), and ice cream.
For Butterbeer season 2026, Universal Orlando will introduce a new Butterbeer Cupcake, Butterbeer Cookie Sandwich, Butterbeer Candy Apple and Butterbeer Shortbread Bar (available at Honeydukes in Hogsmeade and Sugarplum’s Sweet Shop in Diagon Alley).
At the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic in Epic Universe, the Bièraubeurre Crêpe at Café L’air De La Sirene and Le Gobelet Noir is made with shortbread cookie butter Bavarian cream, Bièraubeurre cream, strawberries, Bièraubeurre drizzle, and a shortbread cookie garnish.
And this year, during Butterbeer season, a Biéraubeurre Crème Brûlée will be available at Café L’air de la Siréne.
Butterbeer Season will also mark the debut of Butterbeer-flavored truffles and macarons at the K. Rammelle confectionary shop in Universal’s newest theme park.
Returning to Universal Studios Hollywood for Butterbeer Season 2026 is the fan-favorite Butterbeer Cream Puff, which has a cinnamon-sugar-coated pastry shell, a creamy custard filling, and a dollop of whipped cream filled with Butterbeer sauce.
Another popular Butterbeer-flavored treat is the Butterbeer Ice Lolly, a frozen ice cream bar with a hard white chocolate shell and creamy Butterbeer ice cream inside.
Available year-round is Butterbeer potted cream at the Three Broomsticks, Butterbeer fudge at Honeydukes, and Butterbeer soft-serve at Florian Fortescue’s.
Obviously, all of them are delicious, but if forced to pick a favorite at wand-point, it would be the Butterbeer potted cream, a creamy custard that’s a little less sweet than the drinks (and a lot less sweet than the fudge). The lolly and cream puff are also definitely worth trying.

A new assortment of Butterbeer-themed merchandise will include a Spirit Jersey, t-shirt, bucket hat, and more.

After evading Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestrange on Harry Potter and the Escape From Gringotts in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida, you can find a well-deserved reward at the following locations:

- The Fountain of Fair Fortune – Butterbeer (frozen, cold), Butterbeer soft-serve ice cream

DIY Butterbeer
Sadly, Universal has not revealed their top secret Butterbeer recipe, but I made one at home that comes pretty close:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup cream soda
- 1 cup soda water
- 2 tablespoons butterscotch syrup
- 2 tablespoons whipped cream
- 2 tablespoons caramel syrup
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Combine cream soda, soda water, and butterscotch syrup in a bowl
- In a separate bowl, combine whipped cream, caramel syrup, and salt
- Pour the soda mixture into a glass and gently spoon the whipped cream mixture on top
