As Knott’s Berry Farm heads into summer, big moves lurk on the horizon. After years of delays, Montezooma’s Revenge is finally throwing us for a “loop,” plans are in motion to streamline the season pass program across the (now combined) Six Flags portfolio, and just next door, Soak City is gearing up for a massive winter overhaul. Let’s dive into everything that’s happening at Knott’s and beyond.

Zooma’s Loop

It’s finally happening! A major milestone has been reached on the reimagined Montezooma’s Revenge.

Knott’s Berry Farm closed the attraction in 2022, but after several years of delay, it still hasn’t reopened. Over the last few years, we have seen the track completely removed and everything sit behind construction walls. Much of the scaffolding has now come down, and the rollercoaster’s signature loop was recently reinstalled, featuring a sinister maroon color.

There’s still much work to finish, though. Construction walls still surround the station building, and portions of the track are covered with white tarps.

The track supports now sport a fresh coat of green paint to camouflage the towers among the trees.

The nearby Off-Road Rally attraction in Camp Snoopy’s track previously weaved through a mess of scaffolding, but the road is now clear.

The Knott’s Berry Farm website still lists Montezooma: The Forbidden Fortress as opening this year. Though, at the current rate of progress, we don’t expect to see it until fall or winter… I wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t open as late as next spring, given the numerous delays with this project.

Six Flags Regional Assist

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, Knott’s Berry Farm’s parent company, held its quarterly earnings call several weeks ago and mentioned several regional offerings they are interested in making available at all their parks for the 2026 Seasonal Pass.

Although Cedar Fair and Six Flags Corporations merged last year, they still haven’t fully consolidated their passholder programs.

Knott’s Berry Farm construction update, Knott’s Berry Farm Update: Loops, Splashes, and Season Passes

Currently, there’s a hodgepodge of what is and is not available for passholders across both sides of the company, but in a move to simplify the entire process, the Prestige Pass will become a universal “All-Parks” Pass in 2026. This will include all the legacy Cedar Fair and Six Flags parks, with passholder offerings also available to guests when they visit their non-home parks.

This may increase the cost of the Prestige Pass, but passholders would receive access to more parks and take their perks with them.

Additionally, Six Flags is interested in introducing Regional Passes to help drive attendance at parks that are within driving distance of each other. In the case of Southern California, that would mean Knott’s Berry Farm will be paired with Magic Mountain in the hope of driving attendance to Knott’s Valencia (step)sister.

Knott’s Berry Farm construction update, Knott’s Berry Farm Update: Loops, Splashes, and Season PassesWe expect this will be a pass add-on, similar to the current Knott’s pricing structure that offers a Soak City add-on to Season Passes, but we will have to wait and see. Six Flags is expected to release its 2026 Pass Offerings and Prices in the next couple of weeks.

Farm Construction

Knott’s has a slew of construction projects in both parks, so let’s take a look…

Main Entrance Refurb

At the front of the park, the old guest services windows just inside the Main gate (now used for park operations) are being refurbished.

The windows on the opposite side of the gate also need some TLC

Camp Snoopy

Smaller projects are ongoing in Camp Snoopy. Many of these projects were originally expected to be completed before the grand reopening of the land last year, but just didn’t get finished in time. We’re happy to see Knott’s is still committed to finishing these smaller touches.

The entrance sign is finally looking finished. Snoopy is now holding a rope and being assisted by several Woodstocks to straighten the Camp Snoopy sign.

Just around the corner at the former Camp Snoopy stage, a new awning roof has been installed to allow the Peanuts Gang to meet their guests in the shade. This awning sits where the previous Camp Mail ride used to be. Evidently, Knott’s is in no hurry to finish building the theater they announced for the reimagined Camp Snoopy… if the project hasn’t been abandoned entirely.

Thankfully, work is on again in the former Peanuts meet-and-greet area. While we’re not sure what this space will be used for, we’re glad it’s no longer just an empty dirt plot.

Flying Aces has received a brand new hand-painted background mural, now a better fit with the art style of Camp Snoopy. The Knott’s scenic painting team does fantastic work. We’re happy to see them continuing to do these kinds of classic attraction murals.

Speaking of fantastic work by the Knott’s art teams, the Woodstocks have finally returned to the Camp Store clock. These little Woodstocks ring their bells every 15 minutes.

Other Projects

Moving over to Calico Square, permanent poles for stage lighting and sound equipment have been installed.

The permanent installation has allowed the stage to slightly increase in size, and should help with the dozens of entertainment activities Calico Square hosts throughout the year.

Just outside of Calico Square, a snack stand was added to the side of the Wilderness Dance Hall. This is a peculiar location, but it falls in line with other projects that add more retail to the park.

Around the corner, the refreshment stand just south of Wilderness Dance Hall is currently behind construction walls.

Moving over to Charleston Circle, a few familiar characters have been added to the fencing around the fountain.

The fence section facing the coffee stand holds a hidden Snoopy…

…while the section facing Johnny Rockets holds a Woodstock. I would not be surprised if a Charlie Brown silhouette appears on in the near future.

Soak City Future Refresh

Leaving the Farm and heading across Beach Boulevard to Knott’s Soak City, let’s take a look at the current park conditions, as Knott’s second gate is expected to receive a major remodel during the upcoming winter season.

Knott’s Berry Farm construction update, Knott’s Berry Farm Update: Loops, Splashes, and Season Passes

Six Flags announced during an earnings call last year that the Buena Park water park is scheduled to receive an overhaul. Walking around the park, we agree that it absolutely needs it.

Knott’s Berry Farm construction update, Knott’s Berry Farm Update: Loops, Splashes, and Season Passes

Soak City continues to feel dated— straight out of the early 2000s. It’s also almost completely covered by concrete with almost no shade.

Knott’s Berry Farm construction update, Knott’s Berry Farm Update: Loops, Splashes, and Season Passes

The park opened in June 2000 as a homage to the Southern California Surfing culture, but what’s left today is just a random smattering of surfing references on the slides and mostly generic-looking attractions and iconography. The park’s entire art direction could use an overhaul to bring it in line with what we expect from Knott’s Berry Farm. More greenery, shade, and newer attractions are needed to freshen up the park.

Knott’s Berry Farm construction update, Knott’s Berry Farm Update: Loops, Splashes, and Season Passes

Unfortunately, Given Six Flag’s current budget crunch, I don’t have much faith that this park will receive as much TLC as it deserves. The Knott’s team is clearly capable of creating charming experiences on a limited budget, but I suspect the same issues that have plagued Camp Snoopy and Fiesta Village since their remodels may also impact the scope of this overhaul. We hope to see more than just a new slide or two, this park needs (and deserves) a creative revival.

Knott’s Soak City is one of the few water parks in the area, located in a prime spot, it would be a missed opportunity for Six Flags not to make a substntial investment in the park’s future. We will have to wait and see what Six Flags debuts next year.
