Moana’s Back! New Movie Merchandise Makes Waves

Moana 2 voyages to theaters on November 27, and the first wave of merchandise has washed ashore. As with most princess movies, there is a heavier focus on dolls and pretend play accessories, but there are plenty of other types of merchandise to explore. We look forward to seeing our old friends Moana (of course), Maui, Heihei, and Pua while meeting new ones, such as her little sister Simea and friend Loto. Before we dive into the new Moana 2 merchandise, let’s take a peek at the latest trailer for the movie:

Moana 2 Toys

Dolls

[Releasing November 27, 2024] Moana is the next of the Disney Princesses to be treated to her own American Girl doll (you can find information on previous releases here and here). The individual Moana doll ($135) is dressed in a slightly embellished version of her traditional outfit. She comes equipped with a hibiscus floral clip in her hair (not portrayed in the picture below) and her shell necklace that opens to reveal a sea star. Heihei and Pua are part of an accessories set ($40) that also includes a floral lei crown and the oar that Maui signed.

As the toy’s name suggests, Mattel’s Moana Singing Adventure Doll ($24.99) croons out a tune from the new movie “We’re back” when you press her torso. She also comes packaged with a floral crown, oar, and conch shell.

But for a simpler option, Mattel has also created fashion dolls (their way of saying basic, articulated, pre-dressed dolls) of Moana ($10.99), Simea ($7.99), and Loto ($10.99).

Other Toys

Disguise thankfully released these Moana and Simea costumes ($24.99 each) before this year’s Halloween costume decision deadline.

Jakks-Pacific’s toy accesories would be great for Halloween costumes of everyday pretend play. Here we see Moana’s shell necklace ($9.99), which opens to reveal a starfish, and Maui’s fish hook ($19.99), both of which light-up.

This Heihei toy ($14.99) from Jakks-Pacific simply screams “Boat Snack!” Well, actually, it just screams. Squeeze the poor guy’s stomach and he will scream back at you. But then again, I think I would scream, too, if someone squeezed my stomach.

LEGO two LEGO sets for Moana 2, each with distinct looks. The first is Moana’s Adventure Canoe ($59.99), which will be available for pre-order on December 1, 2024. It includes three mini doll figures and a Pua pig figure.

The second set is Moana’s Island Fun ($19.99), which will be available starting January 1, 2025. Once construction is finished, the playset can be opened to reveal Moana’s village home and the hidden island cave. Micro-dolls of Moana, Simea, and Pua are included.

Moana 2 Tech Accessories

This November, PopSockets plans to release Moana 2-themed PopCases ($40 each) and enamel PopSockets ($35 each). Both styles of products will be MagSafe.

Moana 2 Books

The Art of Moana 2 ($45, available for preorder and ships November 26, 2024), from Chronicle Books, includes 160 pages of character designs, storyboards, and color scripts, plus exclusive interviews with the film’s creative team. This book is part of the “Disney Art” book series.

You can also enjoy the plot of Moana 2 in a junior novelization ($7.99, available for preorder and ships October 29, 2024) and a Little Golden Book ($5.99, available preorder and ships on October 15, 2024) from Random House.
