MiceShots: A Culinary Caper on Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at Epcot

Ratatouille: The Adventure AKA Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy (Remy’s Totally Zany Adventure) has been a top attraction in Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris Resort since it opened on July 10, 2014. Seven years later, U.S. Disney fans were thrilled to welcome Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure to Epcot’s expanded France Pavilion on Oct. 1, 2021, as part of Walt Disney World’s 50^th-anniversary celebration.

During the daring culinary caper that Imagineers have described as Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride in a Parisian kitchen, riders race through the bustling kitchen of Gusteau’s famous restaurant from “Ratatouille” in rat-shaped vehicles through immersive 4D animated scenes enhanced by aromas and temperature changes.

“World Showcase will always be a celebration of real countries, and now it’s also a celebration of [the] stories those countries inspired,” said Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald. “’Ratatouille’ is a Valentine to France … so bringing [Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure] to France Pavilion was a natural fit.”

So, now, let’s take a spin through the queue and into the kitchen!

The attraction’s façade is Gusteau’s iconic French restaurant located in a charming Parisian plaza in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower.

There’s even a Remy-inspired fountain featuring popping champagne bottles (ooh-la-la!)

Fun Easter Eggs in nearby shop windows include tins of Gasteau-branded anchovies and bottles of Chateau Ego wine (named after the discerning food critic from the Pixar movie).

Chef Skinner’s red Vespa is parked outside, so we know he’s working at the restaurant today.

The queue takes riders through an artist’s loft to the rooftops of Paris, where they’re “shrunk” to the size of rats to board the trackless ride vehicles.

NOTE: We know some of our photos aren’t as picture perfect as usual, but since the attraction requires 3D glasses, we did our best to capture the ride experience.

As the ride begins, Remy and the spirit of Chef Gusteau are discussing which meal to prepare, but just as they decide on their signature dish – ratatouille (of course) – Remy falls through a swinging glass window, landing him (and us) smack in the middle of the kitchen and setting off a frantic chase through the walk-in freezer…

Under a hot oven…

And into the dining room, where nobody seems happy to see us.

In the end, we make it safely to Remy’s kitchen, where his rat brigade is busy cooking (what else?) ratatouille.

In Paris, the attraction exits at Bistro Chez Rémy (sadly, Walt Disney World does not have this charming restaurant, but we had to show it to you anyway).
