Bonjour! EPCOT’s newest attraction has JUST opened, and I got to ride it! Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure opened on October 1st, to help kick off Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary.

We were able to visit the newly expanded France pavilion at EPCOT, home to the new attraction and a new dining location, La Crêperie de Paris. Come with us on a NEW kind of World Showcase culinary journey… Bon appetit!

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is a trackless dark ride that takes guests on a 4D culinary adventure, zipping and scurrying around the bustling kitchen, dining room, and walls of Gusteau’s famous Paris restaurant. You’ll feel like you’ve shrunken down to the Little Chef’s size – and when you’re small, life is a BIG adventure!

The all-new attraction is located in the recently expanded France pavilion within EPCOT’s World Showcase.

An art-nouveau metro sign leads guests back to the new plaza…

As you approach the attraction, it’s hard to miss the beautiful champagne bottle and rat-filled water fountain drawing you in! Disney actually utilized a new fountain piece to create the champagne popping effect, rather than it just looking like water pouring out. Seeing Remy at the top of the fountain is quite fitting since it is his attraction there after all.

This fountain is our favorite part of the new area!

The show building itself is set up as a sort of theater, with ticket booths dividing the separate queue types. As you meander through the queue, you’ll find yourself on the rooftops of Paris, overlooking Gusteau’s restaurant, before walking through a Parisian apartment. Then it’s time to pick up your 3D glasses!

Once you’ve retrieved your 3D glasses, it’s almost time to board! The rat vehicles seat six guests in two rows of three. It’s bench-style seating, with small dividers in between each seat. This is a great family ride since it doesn’t have any height restrictions. (We’ll get to the specifics in a minute!)

After boarding, it’s time to pop your 3D glasses on and you’re whisked away to Gusteau’s!

If you’ve visited Disneyland Paris in recent years, EPCOT’s Ratatouille attraction is identical to its French counterpart. Regardless, we don’t want to spoil too much for you (and the ride is in 3D, so photos are rather difficult!) Here’s a small “squeak peek” at the on-ride experience:

If you’d like to see the whole ride, we’ve got a ride-through video to share with you from the front row of the attraction! Take a few minutes and shrink down to the size of the title Chef and watch the action unfold…

Ratatouille Ride Restrictions & Accessibility

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure makes for a great addition to EPCOT as another family-friendly attraction. As we mentioned earlier, there is no height restriction for the ride, and each vehicle seats 6 people, so simple to fit families of any size onto the attraction. That said, children under 7 years old must be accompanied by a person age 14 years or older. If you use an ECV or wheelchair, you must transfer into the vehicle. Additionally, audio description and handheld captioning are available for further accessibility.

Upon the attraction’s initial opening, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will only be accessible via Virtual Queue. A standby queue will not be available at the opening. The virtual queue will be limited and subject to availability, and each guest can enter the virtual queue no more than once per day.

According to the attraction’s entrance, Standby and Single Rider queues will eventually be available. (The FastPass+ sign remains, but will most likely switch over to Lightning Lane in the near future)

Our Thoughts

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in one word? CUTE! As you twist and scurry throughout the kitchen and dining room of Gusteau’s, the fun practical effects, beautiful music score, and oversized show scenes make this trackless dark ride stand out. (BONUS: See if you can spot the hidden Pizza Planet truck when you ride!)

While it may not be as technologically impressive as Rise of the Resistance or Runaway Railway, Ratatouille is a wonderful family-friendly addition to EPCOT. (Wow, ever notice how many ‘R’s are in Disney’s trackless attraction names?!)  This is a Disney experience that’s fun for the WHOLE family (and NO height restrictions)! This attraction is part of the next generation of Disney dark-rides and just a small piece of the ongoing transformation at EPCOT. We can’t wait to see more!

New Ratatouille Merchandise

A new merchandise collection will also debut on October 1st with the attraction’s opening. From kitchen essentials to apparel and innovative toys, you’ll find plenty of Remy, his brother Emile… and lots of CHEESE!

The toys are what’s most interesting in the merchandise lineup. There’s a remote control Emile and Remy that will race along vertical surfaces thanks to the use of a magnetic attachment. Plus there’s a battery-powered miniature version of the attraction’s ride vehicle that plays music as it scurries along. And the toque blanche (chef’s hat) with a little Remy inside is really cute!

The kitchen apparel is very cute and fits perfectly to the attraction. If you’re looking to get creative in the kitchen, a new apron never hurts. I particularly like the utensil holder that’s shaped like a ride vehicle. Take a look through the gallery below to see what’s in this line of merchandise!

For more Ratatouille merchandise, guests are invited to head over to the World Showcase Pavilion.

La Crêperie de Paris

Joining the attraction is La Crêperie de Paris, a new restaurant offering authentic French cuisine in both table and quick-service options with a menu from celebrity chef Jérôme Bocuse.

Thé crêpes featured at the new restaurant are extremely thin thanks to the use of a special wooden rake that spreads the batter to a paper-thin level. I was fortunate enough to try a few of the specialty crêpes, and I’m already looking forward to trying more in the future.

Saumon Crêpe

The creamy cheese with the thinly sliced smoked salmon matched perfectly with what you would want on top of the buckwheat crepe. The light feeling of each ingredient had me just full enough to leave room for dessert. The great part of the buckwheat is it’s gluten-free, which is hard to believe with wheat being in the name. Even if you’re not on a gluten-free diet, this is still a delectable option.

Gourmande

It’s a known fact that chocolate-hazelnut spread is delicious on just about anything. But it truly excels when featured on top of a fresh crêpe. This crêpe is folded over so you bite into a crêpe full of Hazelnut Chocolate with a little extra drizzled on top. Perfect for someone with a sweet tooth!

Melba

Peaches, red berries and almonds, Oh Yes. This second sweet crêpe was stuffed full of peaches. I was prepared for it to be overly sweet but instead was surprised with how the natural flavor of the peach shines through the little blanket of crêpe. The red berry sauce is a good pop of sweet to counter the buttery almonds.
