While Disneyland has temporarily swapped out the traditional Haunted Mansion attraction for its seasonal Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay to kick off Halloween Time at the resort, Loungefly is filling the void with its new collection inspired by the mansion’s Stretching Room. The accessories and apparel in this collection feature clever designs and effects, not unlike the beloved attraction itself. The real question is: Can you stretch your closet to fit all the pieces in this collection? Explore the goods if you dare!
Haunted Mansion Stretching Room Portraits Loungefly Mini Backpack ($80)
It isn’t your imagination; The haunted portraits on the front of this mini backpack actually stretch to transform the framed visages of the victims in their corruptible mortal state into stretched images revealing their untimely demises.
The “stretching room” portion creates a roomy zippered compartment in the front of the backpack.
The back isn’t as imaginative as some other styles by this designer, decorated only with the sinister purple wallpaper.
However, the lining is fun and full of characters, using art from merchandise seen at the Disney Parks for the Haunted Mansion’s 50th anniversary at Disneyland. Loungefly uses this print to line the other accessories in this collection.
Haunted Mansion Stretching Room Portraits Glow-in-the-Dark Zip Around Wallet ($40)
The front of this zip-around wallet depicts the fully-stretched portraits running from side to side.
On the back of the wallet is that query familiar to Disney park guests, “Is this haunted room actually stretching?” And for some added fun, this side’s design glows in the dark.
Unzip the wallet to reveal 4 card slots, an ID window (with a tombstone-shaped cutout in its center), and a small zippered coin pouch.
Haunted Mansion Grandfather Clock Glow-in-the-Dark Crossbody Bag ($65)
And now, we have arrived at my favorite item in this collection, the crossbody bag modeled after the beastly grandfather clock seen in the mansion’s corridor. And just like the one from the ride, the clockface has a 13th hour, and its hands are crooked (and movable!). It comes with a Haunted Mansion marquee charm attached to its side.
The straps are nice and thick, decorated with a combination of wallpaper and pairs of eyes.
The grandfather clock’s “eyes” and clockface glow in the dark, as do the eyes on the shoulder strap.
Haunted Mansion Grandfather Clock Lenticular Keychain ($12)
This lenticular version of the grandfather clock that hangs from this keychain gives the illusion that the mouth is opening and closing when you move it.
Haunted Mansion Lanyard with Card Holder ($12)
This lanyard with card holder expertly blends the portraits with the grandfather clock imagery to create an easy accessory that still makes a statement (that being, “I am a Disney fan!”). The Stretching Room portraits run down the lanyard while the grandfather clock guards one side of the card holder with the other side bearing a clear ID slot. The final touch is a small rubber Haunted Mansion charm that dangles from the lanyard.
Haunted Mansion Unisex Hoodie ($70)
Running from sizes S through 3XL, this unisex hoodie is a cozy way to ward off the chills, undead or otherwise. The front is highlighted by Madame Leota in her crystal ball, accompanied by some of the corridor’s framed photos (and a cross-stiched pattern!) and those odd eyeballs. Equally notable is the tombstone design that covers the kangaroo pocket. There is nothing on the back of the hoodie, however.
The sleeves are made with a rendition of the mansion’s famous wallpaper, with the ominous (and familiar) greeting “Welcome Foolish Mortals” running down the left sleeve.
And once again, we see that charming cartoony lining, this time lining the hood.
Similar to a number of other pieces in Loungefly’s Haunted Mansion Stretching Room Portrait collection, this hoodie boasts glow-in-the-dark details, seen in the menacing eyes and the wording on the sleeve.
