Ariel may have 20 thingamabobs, but the amount of merchandise created for the upcoming live-action The Little Mermaid movie (debuting May 26!) far surpasses that number! And amongst that treasure trove, I’ve selected a handful to showcase the assortment different companies offer. There’s more variety to the products than many would expect, and fans of all ages have cause to be excited. Let’s dive in!

Ariel Plush Doll ($26.99)
Mermaid enthusiasts, young and old, will love this 9-inch tall plush doll rendition of Ariel. The mermaid princess’s face is embroidered with plush hair atop her head. Her tail has screen-printed scales finished off with iridescent fins.
Ariel Costume for Girls ($99.99)
As is custom, with every new (or remade, in this case) Disney princess comes a new princess-inspired costume. This one takes a cue from Ariel’s mermaid form with sequins to emulate fish scales on the tail and the bodice. And an iridescent fabric on the hem is perfect for the illusion of a mystical mermaid tail. It is available in kids sizes 4 through 12.
Earring Set ($29.99)
This colorful earring set could have been taken from a sunken ship’s treasure chest. It includes three pairs of earrings: two stud types (the pearl and the starfish) and a dangling style.
Loungefly Mini Backpack ($88)
This Mini Backpack highlights Ariel and Ursula. Both characters are joined by their respective sidekicks, with Sebastian and Scuttle providing backup on the back of the bag. The backpack has a main compartment and a smaller one on the front with the zipper hidden underneath Ursula’s tentacles. And the lining features Flounder, Sebastian, and Scuttle playing amongst coral, kelp, and shells.
Spirit Jersey ($74.99)
The tie-dye effect on this Spirit Jersey almost appears as though it was splashed with water! Other mermaid-y details include a small iridescent Ariel icon (joined by her name) on the front, with larger character art on the back and the phrase, “Part of your world.”
Ear Headband ($34.99)
The iridescent effect, seen on many other pieces of Little Mermaid merchandise, is especially fetching on the “ears” of this Ear Headband. And at the center is a bow covered with art of Ariel and her undersea world, topped off with a jewel and trident embellishment.
MagicBand+ ($44.99)
If you have been hoping to add to your MagicBand+ collection, you’re in luck! An underwater flower of some variety is at the center of the tappable icon, while Ariel decorates the band portion.
Funko & Loungefly
Funko POP! Figures – available for pre-order on April 27
Funko designed several new POP! figures for The Little Mermaid. The most impressive of which is the POP! Deluxe Ariel & Friends, which includes mermaid Ariel joined by Flounder, Sebastian, and Scuttle. There are also standalone POP! figures of human Ariel, Prince Eric, and Ursula.
Loungefly Mini Backpack – Coming Soon to Loungefly.com ($TBA)
And here we have another Little Mermaid Loungefly Mini Backpack. This one focuses on the many “wonders & curiosities” Ariel discovers on her journey. The art on the front highlights Ariel (with a shimmery tail!) and Flounder, surrounded by treasures like a spyglass, a mermaid figurine, and the shell necklace we associate with Ursula/Vanessa; the popular dinglehopper isn’t pictures and instead serves as one of the bag’s zipper pulls. The mini backpack’s backside hides the image of a mermaid tail breaching the surface with a seaside village in the distance, along with the phrase “Wonders & Curiosities.”
Loungefly Flap Wallet – Coming Soon to Loungefly.com ($TBA)
This Flap Wallet is made to match the Mini Backpack we just discussed, but there are some differences. Ariel now holds the dinglehopper (instead of it being a zipper pull), and Flounder is no longer the lone sidekick because Sebastian and Scuttle have been added to the wallet’s back. The inside of the wallet contains seven card slots, a clear window for an ID, a larger inner pocket, and an exterior zippered pouch.

Shown in her mermaid form, this positively stunning doll of Ariel comes with several hair accessories (for hair-styling fun) and a doll stand shaped like a whirlpool. She has points of articulation in her arms, wrists, elbows, and two parts of her tail (where the knees and ankles would be on a human). From Ariel’s ombre top to her shimmering tail, this doll has so many details; even her eyelashes are doll lashes rather than part of the face mold.

Celebrate sisterly love with this doll set with all seven mermaid princesses: Ariel, Caspia, Indira, Perla, Karina, Mala, and Tamika. Each girl has a posable waist and arms. I love how every sister has a different type of fish fin.
Ariel, King Triton, & Ursula Doll Set ($59.99)
Looking for other character dolls? You’ll find King Triton and Ursula (joined by Ariel) in this doll set. Triton comes equipped with his trusty trident, a crown, and gold cuffs, all of which are removable. Ursula’s shell necklace is removable, as well.

Dressed as they appear in the movie, Ariel and Eric are ready for all sorts of adventures in this doll set. Eric wears a shirt, a removable vest with (molded) pants, and removable boots. Ariel is outfitted in a blue dress and shoes, both of which can be removed. Accessories include Ariel’s satchel and the small siren figurine.

Ursula’s alter ego, Vanessa, looks elegantly sinister (which is impressive to manage in a doll). The posable doll is dressed in a purple dress, accessorized with removable shoes and, of course, her enchanted shell necklace.

The Little Mermaid Royal Clam Shell #43225 ($159.99) – Available for pre-order, releasing on May 4, 2023
Intended for builders 18 years and up, this 1808-piece set will cost you some serious clams (it is the most expensive piece of Little Mermaid merchandise in this showcase), but I think it will be worth it. Once completed, it is 13 inches tall, 13 inches wide, and 8 inches deep and contains three different areas: King Triton’s Throne, Ariel’s treasure trove, and Ursula’s lair. It comes with minifigures of Ariel, King Triton, Ursula, two of Ariel’s sisters (Karina and Indira), Sebastian, and Flounder.
Ariel’s Treasure Chest #43229 ($44.99) – Available for pre-order, releasing on June 1, 2023
When used in conjunction with the LEGO Builder App, this 370-piece set helps builders 6 years old unlock an adventure as they build a functioning jewelry box and accompanying bracelet. It also comes with figures of Ariel, Flounder, and Sebastian. This set is part of a series of Disney diamond dress sets (like this one), so if you want your collection to be complete, you’ll need this one, too!
The Little Mermaid Story Book #43212 ($19.99) – Available for pre-order, releasing on May 1, 2023
Intended for builders ages 5 and up, this 134-piece LEGO set contains everything you need to build your own portable, book-shaped play set inspired by The Little Mermaid. After assembly, you can enjoy interactive features like a revolving statue and a folding shell-shaped throne scattered around the set’s three locales. Figures of Ariel, Eric, Ursula, and Sebastian are included.

“The Little Mermaid: Make a Splash” Adapted by Ashley Franklin and illustrated by Paul Kellam ($17.99)
This retelling of The Little Mermaid is full of colorful illustrations. The picture book is 40 pages long and created with kids ages 3 to 5 in mind (although you will likely be the one doing the actual reading).
“World of Reading: The Little Mermaid: This is Ariel” by Colin Hosten ($5.99)
However, this 32-page recounting of Ariel’s tale was written to help younger readers improve their literacy skills and foster a love of books.
“The Little Mermaid: The Novelization” by Faith Noelle ($8.99 for paperback and $6.99 for eBook)
And for more advanced readers, there is this 256-page novelization.
“The Little Mermaid: Adventures on Land” by Brittany Mazique ($5.99 for paperback and $3.99 for Kindle)
But if photos from the movie are what you are craving, this 24-page book is filled with images taken from the new live-action The Little Mermaid. The paperback version also includes a poster!
“The Little Mermaid: Guide to Merfolk” by Eric Geron ($12.99)
Chockful of full-color illustrations, this 192-page guide further explores Ariel’s underwater world. It dives deeper into the backstories of the seven mermaid princesses and explains more about the merfolk’s history and lore.
“The Little Mermaid: Against the Tide” by J. Elle ($18.99 for hardcover and $10.99 for Kindle)
This 320-page novel tells an all-new tale involving Ariel as she goes on a perilous quest to rescue one of her sisters after being abducted. She’ll traverse the vast seas, facing countless dangers, as she uncovers family secrets, including more information about her mother!
