Disney fans will have something to cheer about this New Year’s Day. On Sunday, January 1, 2023, select AMC Theatres will host a movie marathon of classic Disney animated films to kickoff Disney’s 100 Years of Wonder Celebration!

AMC Disney Movie Marathon
Moviegoers will be able to see some of Disney’s most iconic animated films on the big screen, such as 1991’s “Beauty and the Beast,” 1992’s “Aladdin,” 1994’s “The Lion King,” and 2013’s “Frozen.” All four films have the distinction of winning an Academy Award for Best Original Song, and Best Animated Feature at the Annie Awards during their respective years.
Those who attend the one-day-only movie marathon, which is scheduled to last 6 hours and 40 minutes, will receive a premium Disney Animation commemorative print.
New Year’s Rockin’ Eve
Before the movie marathon begins, Disney’s 100 Years of Wonder celebration will kick off at the stroke of midnight during “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.” The pre-taped celebration at Disneyland Resort will include performances by Rockin’ Eve co-host Ciara, Fitz and the Tantrums, Maddie & Tae, Shaggy, Ben Platt, Aly & AJ, Halle Bailey, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, Bailey Zimmerman, and Lauren Spencer Smith.

Bonus Clip: And The Oscar Goes To…
“A Whole New World” became the most recognized song from the film “Aladdin,” and became a huge hit for the Walt Disney Company. At the 65th Annual Academy Awards, Lena Horne and Quincy Jones presented Alan Menken and Tim Rice with the Oscar for Original Song for “A Whole New World.”
During the 1990s, adult contemporary versions of songs from Disney’s animated films would be released with the films. The Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle version of “A Whole New World” topped the music charts, peaking at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, edging out Whitney Houston’s monster hit “I Will Always Love You.” The track went gold, selling 600,000 copies.
“A Whole New World” was the first song to reach No. 1 for a Disney animated film.
