If you thought the announcements at the D23 Expo Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Panel were all you’d be hearing about Marvel in the Disney Parks for a while, think again! The Imagineers were on hand this week at New York Comic-Con to share more details on Marvel updates and additions from the parks to the Cruise Line.

Action at Avengers Campus

Closest to home, they confirmed they were hard at work developing the planned third attraction for Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure. This new offering will feature heroes from across the Marvel multiverse fighting the villainous King Thanos. This attraction was announced at D23 Expo last month and not much information has been released aside from acknowledging its existence.

However, while we still have some time before anything concrete hits the… well… concrete of Campus on that front, the latest character was announced who will be joining his fellow heroes there very soon: M’Baku, chieftain of the Jabari Clan, will represent his homeland in celebration of the upcoming release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. It is expected he will arrive on that film’s opening day, November 11th.

He will join T’Challa, Okoye and the Dora Milaje who already appear daily in the land.

Not mentioned at Comic Con (that we know of), but showing up last night in Avenger’s Campus, is another Marvel Character who just made a debut on Disney+ this week, Werewolf by Night!

A Cosmic Christmas

EPCOT is still celebrating the recent opening of its latest thrilling attraction – Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. It was previously mentioned that Cosmic Rewind would be getting a holiday overlay, but it has been confirmed for this holiday season at Walt Disney World. Dubbed “the Holiday Remix,” the attraction will be getting its own new holiday-themed playlist to accompany guests on their adventures with the Guardians.

Disney has described the attraction’s overlay as

The Guardians will trade their classic hits playlist for a new holiday song for a limited time this holiday season. Guests will get the chance to help save the galaxy on the attraction they know and love all while rocking out to a mash-up of classic holiday tunes.

and we’re curious to see what the song (singular) will be. Considering that it is a mash-up of classic tunes, it will likely be a medley of holiday songs. We’re also wondering if this will be a larger-scale overlay with a new preshow and new animations, or if it is just a music change on the ride itself.

This holiday overlay follows in the footsteps of the popular Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! Monsters After Dark experience at Halloween Time at Disney California Adventure. We’re very interested to see if the Cosmic Rewind overlay will have a tie-in to the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special headed to Disney+ this winter.

Cruising Right Along

If you’re planning an upcoming Disney cruise, you may get to experience the Marvel Day at Sea, which will feature entertainment, Marvel character meets, and an adults-only Ravagers party in one of the nightclubs. This will likely include an awesome music mix given Star-Lord’s influence on that motley crew!

The special event will end with the action-packed “Heroes Unite” show where the heroes and villains clash in an epic stunt-and-pyrotechnic-filled battle across the upper decks of the ship.

Of course, there will also be special food and beverages available along with themed merchandise to commemorate the experience.

Otherworldly Exhibits

Meanwhile, on the Comic-Con show floor, representatives of Xandar were hosting a pop-up pavilion showcasing their culture and artifacts. Guests were invited to speak with these intergalactic ambassadors and even exchange tokens or information for a package of Zarg Nuts – Drax’s favorite snack.

Madame Tussaud’s also revealed the latest addition to the Hall of Heroes at their New York location with a wax figure of Loki. While some might question his inclusion in the “Heroes” section, I’m fully onboard for this!
