In this Merchandise Update, we’ll travel to Disneyland … and beyond! There are plenty of new and exciting items to explore at Disneyland, but we’ll also make stops at Walt Disney World and Aulani, Disney’s Hawaiian resort. Let’s take a look!
Vintage Mickey and Minnie Go Fashion-Forward
Old-school Mickey and Minnie star in this classy women’s fashion collection.
If you are a fan of crop tops (I, unfortunately, am not), this hoodie is worth a look.
These lounge pants are made to match it.
This flowy dress is lined with a super-soft jersey knit fabric. I am not a “dress girl,” and even I was seriously tempted by this one.
There is also a women’s button-up shirt that is similar in design.
This puffy sleeve shirt has a slightly fancier look.
And there is also this striped shirt, which seemed to have a more draping cut.
Celebrate Día de Los Muertos with the Cast of Coco
Día de Los Muertos is a holiday that celebrates family and heritage. There’s a whole line of new merchandise featuring the characters from Coco that will be sure to catch your eye.
Apparel and Accessories
This Coco Ear Headband has a plush sugar skull nestled at the center of a crocheted bow, with two embroidered “marigolds” serving as ears.
The apparel is a mix of two styles, one with tie-dye and colorful art akin to band shirts …
and others that are more subtle in style but still incorporate Día de Los Muertos elements.
Disney, if you are reading this, please consider making this charming kid’s cardigan in adult sizes.
Other apparel options for the younger set include this baby dress and boy’s camp shirt.
Kitchen and Home Goods
The home goods use an art style that incorporates stylized character art with imagery that evokes the holiday Day of the Dead and Coco as well.
Kitchen goods include items like a three-piece kitchen set (a potholder, oven glove, and kitchen towel), a drinking glass, a mug, and a serving tray.
There is also a stunning hinged photo frame that opens to reveal slots for photos and other memorabilia.
Other Merchandise
Additional items in this collection include a bag charm, a key chain, and a positively gorgeous journal.
D23 Collections Land at Disneyland
D23 Expo 2022 may have come and gone, but the experience lives on in the form of the many merchandise collections that debuted at the convention and have now found their way to Disneyland. You may recall seeing some of these from our D23 Expo fashion showcase and post-Expo merchandise round-up.
Aristocats Collection by Ann Shen
Ann Shen’s Aristocats Collection captures the dainty style of the Parisian felines while infusing extra layers of charm and elegance. I adore the look of this collection.
This Jam and Salt Cellar and Cream and Sugar Set are two of my favorites of the ones currently sold at Disneyland Resort.
Princess Tiana Collection by Color Me Courtney
This Princess Tiana Collection from Color Me Courtney takes motifs from The Princess and the Frog and adds modern flair to fashionable apparel, jewelry, and accessories. We spotted this collection earlier when Eudora’s Chic Boutique opened in New Orleans Square.
This varsity jacket was one of my favorites and a new arrival to the Disneyland Resort.
Color Me Courtney’s designs are even made in nuiMOs sizes!
Fantasyland Collection
This collection draws inspiration from the many attractions found in Fantasyland.
My favorite items of this collection are those based on the Mad Tea Party, which interestingly features the name for the attraction used in Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland, “Mad Hatter Tea Cups.”
Dumbo the Flying Elephant is represented as well.
The Carousel has a good number of pieces as well. (Note that it doesn’t explicitly mention Disneyland’s King Arthur Carrousel, but a more general idea of Disney Carousels around the world.)
Disney Munchlings
Munchlings are scented plush toys whose designs are a fusion between a Disney character and a dessert. Disney has given up some prime shopping real estate in World of Disney, Candy Palace on Main Street, and Trolley Treats (Disney California Adventure’s confectionery) to promote them, and their gamble seems to have paid off. The large plushes and the mystery boxes were both flying off the shelves on my last visit.
Black Panther: World of Wakanda Collection
The Black Panther: World of Wakanda Collection fuses styles or patterns that might have in Wakanda with nods to the Marvel hero, Black Panther.
Items in this collection range from apparel and accessories to decor (the faux planter) and other items (the keychain set).
Spider-Man 60th Collection, featuring Her Universe
Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is celebrating his 60th birthday with the release of this nostalgic merchandise collection, which includes apparel, accessories, toys, and more.
Many of the fashions for this collection were designed by Ashley Eckstein of Her Universe.
And Spirit Jersey also pitched in this hooded piece with a kangaroo pocket.
The “New-New” for nuiMOs
Groot and Princess Tiana are new character plush additions to Disney’s nuiMOs line. While Groot has a cutesy, alien charm to him, I am more impressed by the detail on Tiana, especially her face (they included little earrings, too!) and her dress.
In addition to the nuiMOs-sized versions of the apparel offerings from Color Me Courtney’s previously-mentioned Princess Tiana Collection, Wes Jenkins lent his artistic flair to these new Villain outfits, which include fashions inspired by the Evil Queen, Maleficent, Ursula, Hades, and Dr. Facilier.
Disneyland Odds & Ends
There’s still more merchandise ahead! Here, I have collected the newest items that don’t necessarily fit into a category of their own. Various Ear Headbands, apparel, and more!
Miscellaneous Merchandise
Disney has several new styles if you’ve been hoping for a new Ear Headband.
Four fairly thick character sweaters are now in stock in preparation for the (hopefully) quickly approaching cold weather. Styles include Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy.
There are also a few new plushes: the Sebastian and Jiminy Cricket shoulder plushes,
an Abu Big Feet plush,
and a seemingly-life-sized plush of Alligator Loki. Interestingly, this big guy was initially sold on shopDisney last November as a pre-order, with orders shipped earlier this year. But I am glad to see this variant available for park-going plush lovers.
Beyond the Alligator Loki plush, this new style of Spider-Bot backpack is a new Marvel addition.
And this new crewneck sweatshirt featuring Spider-Man and Venom was a fun find. The Katakana reads “Spider-Man” on the top and “Venom” on the bottom.
For Star Wars fans, Disney has released several items themed to the new Disney+ series, Andor.
Alien Sighting at Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff
One of the weirder merchandise discoveries this week occurred at Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff in Disney California Adventure. Located in Pixar Pier, the store typically includes Pixar-related merchandise (although other Disney characters have been sneaking in lately) and various candies. However, on my last visit, I spotted the Porg puppet, traditionally sold at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland, on one of the shelves. Not only is the toy not from a Pixar movie (which, again, this requirement for the store has been loose recently), but in theory, this Porg exists in a different galaxy if we follow the lore Disney has created for Galaxy’s Edge. It makes zero sense for this particular item to be sold anywhere but Galaxy’s Edge or, if we allow for some leeway, Tomorrowland.
While I suspect this is yet another case of supply chain issues, and they had to stock the shelves with something, another plush would have made more sense. Even the Grogu plush I will give a “pass” to some degree because it is intended to be a plush, not spun as an actual creature that you can adopt to “live your own Star Wars adventure.” And to those who say I am making too much out of this, I will respond that what sets Disney Parks above other theme parks is the attention to detail in theming. And putting this Porg in Bing Bong’s detracts from the theming of that store and for Galaxy’s Edge.
More Mobile Checkout in the Emporium
Last week, Disney mysteriously hid the checkout counter in one of the rooms in the Emporium.
Some days later, the curtains were removed to reveal that the counter had been removed and was replaced with additional merchandise displays.
However, the area is not entirely without checkout options, as there are now two mobile checkout desks in the corner. How do you feel about this push to use your phone more in the parks?
Meanwhile, In Walt Disney World …
On a recent visit to Walt Disney World, one of our contributors Laura Gonzalez noticed that the new Disney x Vans collection created for Resort’s 50th anniversary had been restocked. The collection is also available at the Disneyland Resort.
Laura also spotted a new Ear Headband themed to Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. I love the look of this one! I hope that Disneyland gets something similar for when Disneyland gets that attraction in the ToonTown overhaul.
And October 1, 2022, marked the 40th anniversary of EPCOT in Walt Disney World. To celebrate the momentous milestone, Disney released a colorful collection of merchandise! You can take a look at what was available in our coverage:

And Over at Aulani, Disney’s Resort in Hawaii
Suzanne Lee, another MiceChat contributor, visited Disney’s Aulani in Hawaii last week and shared some of the resort’s exclusive merchandise. Here’s what she found!
Halloween has hit Hawaii, and Aulani sells seasonal merchandise with a tropical twist. These items are slightly similar to those sold at the Disney Parks but have tweaks that identify them as Aulani-exclusive.
This water bottle and camp shirt are part of the Disney Pride collection.
Stitch takes center stage for this collection, which is a nice change because, given his movie’s Hawaiian origins, I feel he’s usually underutilized merchandise-wise. This lively collection includes items like a Loungefly Mini Backpack, a Spirit Jersey, a headband, and more.
This tropical collection features Mickey and Minnie living their best island life.
Visitors to Aulani, and Hawaii in general, will likely hear about the Menehune, mystical beings that are skilled craftsmen with a mischievous streak. Several pieces of merchandise are dedicated to the Menehune, like this beautiful Loungefly Mini Backpack, an Ear Hat, and an ornament.
Shave Ice (don’t call it “shaved ice!”) is a ubiquitous frosty treat in Hawaii and is frequently colored with a rainbow of flavored syrups. And you can even order shave ice with Mickey Ears at Aulani at the Papalua Shave Ice stand near the pool. This Loungefly Mini Backpack and matching Ear Headband resemble shave ice, covered with colorful sequins and accented with a shave ice-shaped charm.
In addition to these collections, there were Ear Headbands in many different styles, including some inspired by Duffy the Disney Bear and his friends (Aulani is the only US location to sell those cuties).
And there are also more ornaments to choose from.
The artist NOAH held a signing at Aulani last week. Here is one of the pieces that were on sale.
