We’ve been closely following the progress on all the exciting attractions and additions coming to Disney’s international parks (including several Frozen-themed lands), and today, we have news about the opening THIS YEAR of Zootopia Land at Shanghai Disneyland and a Frozen-themed land at Hong Kong Disneyland! Plus, all sorts of exciting things on the way to Tokyo Disneyland, DisneySea, and Disneyland Paris!

Two big new lands are opening in Disney Parks in the last quarter of 2023. Let’s see what’s just about to open and what will follow them…

Zootopia, Shanghai Disneyland – Opening December 20th, 2023

Disney’s first Zootopia-themed land is officially opening on December 20th, 2023! The highlight of the new land is “Zootopia: Hot Pursuit,” a trackless ride sending guests on an action-filled chase through Zootopia’s different districts.

Check out these incredible views of the new land:

We’re particularly interested in this project since a Zootopia-themed area has been rumored as one of the possible replacements for Dinoland U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando and as a land in Disneyland’s proposed 3rd park.

This great video of an audio-animatronics Officer Clawhauser teases the technology of the new ride.

Guests should pay particular attention to the windows of Zootopia Park Apartments, as a lineup of animal residents will interact with each other and guests throughout the day… and night.

World of Frozen, Hong Kong Disneyland – Opening November 20th, 2023

Hong Kong Disneyland’s World of Frozen will feature two rides, a show, shops, resturant, and lots of incredible details.

Here’s a map of the new land which shows the village of Arendelle at bottom (featuring a boat ride, restaurant, and shops), and the woods at top (which hosts rollercoaster and a theater):

The Frozen Ever After boat ride will take guests on a musical journey similar to the EPCOT attraction of the same name.

Along with Frozen Ever After, the land will debut the first-ever Frozen-themed roller coaster: Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs. Based on the construction photos and ride testing video, this coaster looks like it will be similar to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Walt Disney World, but without the swinging train cars.

We also know Olaf and Sven will pull riders to the top of the hill before their sleighs race to the bottom.

The land will also have a Playhouse in the Woods with a show featuring Frozen’s musical sisters.

Fantasy Springs at Tokyo Disney Resort – Opening June 6, 2024

As we get closer to the 2024 grand opening of Fantasy Springs, Disney has revealed new details about Frozen Kingdom (inspired by “Frozen”), Rapunzel’s Forest (inspired by “Tangled”), and Peter Pan’s Never Land (Inspired by Peter Pan”), including the names of all four attractions.

Frozen Kingdom

Set after the events of “Frozen,” Frozen Kingdom’s Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey attraction allows guests to relive the tale of the two royal sisters, including fan-favorite songs from the animated movie.

The Royal Banquet of Arendelle counter-service restaurant features indoor seating as well as a covered outdoor dining area with views of the fjord cliffs and mountain. Guests will also want to stop into Oaken’s OK Foods, a new establishment from the friendly owner of the cabin and sauna featured in the film.

Rapunzel’s Forest

Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival attraction recreates Rapunzel’s “best day ever” on a romantic boat ride with Flynn Rider to the annual Lantern Festival.

The area’s Snuggly Duckling counter-service restaurant is reminiscent of the establishment by the same name in “Tangled.”

Peter Pan’s Never Land

Fantasy Springs will feature two “Peter Pan”-themed attractions: Peter Pan’s Never Land Adventure, where guests join the Lost Kids, Peter Pan, and Tinker Bell to rescue John from Captain Hook, and Fairy Tinker Bell’s Busy Buggies, where riders help Tink deliver parcels and packages to the four seasonal areas of Pixie Hollow.

The Lookout Cookout counter-service dining location was created by the Lost Kids as their hideout using found objects and parts of shipwrecks.

Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel

The new Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel will feature two towers (one with deluxe rooms and one with luxury rooms), plus two dining options: the La Libellule French restaurant and the buffet-style Fantasy Springs Restaurant with décor inspired by “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Tangled,” and “Sleeping Beauty.”

Reimagined Space Mountain at Tokyo Disneyland

Fantasy Kingdom certainly isn’t the only thing coming to the Tokyo Disneyland Resort. The iconic Space Mountain ride is preparing for a complete relaunch, with an all-new adventure that reaches the farthest corners of the cosmos. Set to debut in 2027, the nearly half a billion dollar transformation aims to blend new technology and special effects to enhance this journey through the stars.

Disney International Parks, ABOUT TO OPEN in the Disney Parks: Zootopia Land & World of Frozen!!!“I’m thrilled to introduce this attraction to guests,” Walt Disney Imagineering Producer Kathleen Davis said. “It’s not only a whole new ride experience, but the story also has so much emotion. Through the queue and then on the ride, we see our connection to our planet and gain a new perspective for how special it is in all the universe. It’s a roller coaster with both thrill and heart.”

Beyond the ride, the plaza in front of the attraction will also be completely redone, providing quiet spots where guests can appreciate the architecture and natural elements. In the evening, enhanced lighting and immersive sound effects will add extra magic to the reimagined attraction and surrounding area.

Frozen-themed land at Disneyland Paris

While Hong Kong Disneyland will get the first Frozen land, the kingdom of Anna and Elsa is also taking shape in Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris Resort, including Elsa’s Ice Castle, which will be perched at the top of a 131-foot-high snow-covered mountain.
