Happy Easter, everyone! Today we’re coming to you from Epcot’s Eggstravaganza, an annual Easter Egg scavenger hunt around the World Showcase. Join me and my family as we try to find all the eggs to redeem our prizes.
As a family, we love doing all the different scavenger hunts around the Disney Parks. We’ve done all the scavenger hunts out at the Disneyland Resort, and now here we are at the Walt Disney World Resort. There are actually two scavenger hunts running concurrently at Epcot right now… the 2022 Eggstravaganza, and Spike the Bee’s Pollen-Nation Exploration for the Flower & Garden Festival. Good thing Epcot is so big! They will need a lot of hiding places!
Egg Hunt maps are available at multiple locations throughout the park for $9.99, but with an annual pass you can get a 20% discount. Prices have gone up since 2021, when maps were $7.99 each.
Got your map and stickers kids? Let’s get hunting!
Our path today will take us around the World Showcase to many of the different country pavilions. There are 12 unique eggs to find, and once we find them all, we are promised a surprise! Let’s start hunting! While you don’t need a map to play the scavenger hunt, that’s the only way that you can redeem your prize.
There are a few different places our first egg could be hidden in Canada. My daughter Alli suggested we look through the Victoria Gardens. That sounds like a pretty good place to hide an egg to me.
And it was here, at the exit to Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360, that we have found our very first egg! It’s Goofy!
Whoever came up with the idea of putting these bird nests around the base of the eggs should get 10 points! At Disneyland, I’m used to seeing the square metal plates being held with sandbags at many of the locations. These look much better!
The next location we need to find an egg is at the World ShowPlace. But where is World ShowPlace? I know the World Showcase and its various pavilions, but honestly, I’m not familiar with World ShowPlace. Somehow the timing on all my travels to Disney World and Epcot has never lined up with the World ShowPlace being open.
WS could stand for either the World Showcase or World ShowPlace. Behind these gates, is a 40,000-square-foot facility that is configurable to all sorts of different events. In the past, it has been used to host events for the Festival of Holidays, the Food & Wine Festival, New Years’ Eve celebrations, and the Festival of the Art. I hope one day soon it’s open again and we can go explore it!
Luckily for us, Alli spotted our next egg outside the gates. It’s Uncle Scrooge! This is a brand new egg this year, replacing the Perry the Platypus egg from past years.
Our next stop is at the United Kingdom pavilion. Near the replica hedge mazes is the White Rabbit. He always looks worried.
My wife Theresa just had a feeling that our next egg would be found near the new Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure ride in the France pavilion. And here she is! Daisy Duck!
Morocco is our next destination. We opted not to go searching deep into the pavilion and instead stayed on the outer walkway. Good thing, because it’s here that we found Thumper the Rabbit from Bambi.
I love that they included a white tail on the backside.
The Figment Egg has one of the best views in the entire park! Not only does he have a view of the Japanese Pagoda and torii gate overlooking the World Showcase Lagoon…
But he also can see the koi pond. Good find, kids!
The American Adventure Pavilion is next for us. So far, the eggs have been in fairly obvious places. We walked through looking high and low, but did not see our egg. Theresa reminded us that it’s always nice to take the time to smell the roses.
And it’s important to explore the entire land and not just the center. Hiding in the bushes, and only visible for guests coming from the Italy pavilion is Minnie Mouse! Fun bit of trivia, you’ve probably heard that Mickey Mouse’s original name was going to be Mortimer Mouse until Lillian Disney requested it be changed to Mickey. But, did you know that “Minnie” is actually short for Minerva?
Our next stop is the pavilion dedicated to Italy. Walking by the two columns out front representing the Columns of San Marco and San Todaro in Venice, my son Ian quickly pointed out that he could already see our next egg. Really? Where? Almost all the way to the back, and you can see it?
Even getting closer, Mickey Mouse is pretty high up there on the ledge of the Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar. Careful Mickey. We don’t want any Humpty Dumpty accidents here.
Mickey Mouse, known as Topolino in Italy, is our next egg!
Time to cross the border into the Germany pavilion.
Amongst the Bratwurst, Frankfurters, and other sausages, we found another hot dog. It’s Pluto!
Our next stop is in China, and what a beautiful view here today! Even Mulan is out and about, wandering the grounds.
But Alli isn’t focusing on Mulan. She’s spotted something else!
It’s Chip! Or as he’s known in China, Chip – 奇奇 (Qí qí). And if you’re curious, Dale – 帝帝 (Dì dì).
As we walked into Norway, Theresa again reminded us to slow down and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us here.
And we’re not the only ones enjoying all the flowers today. Dos Mariposas, which were once Dos Oruguitas! Two butterflies are happily fluttering and flitting about, chasing each other amongst the Spider Flowers.
Just a short distance away from Chip in China, is Dale in Norway!
The Dale egg looks like he’s right in the middle of a field on top of the sod-covered Norwegian roof. And just for fun, the Norwegian names for Chip & Dale are “Snipp og Snapp”.
There’s just one more egg to go, and it’s in Mexico.
Here we have found El pato Donald or in English, Donald Duck! Very appropriate because he’s looking towards the Mesoamerican pyramid which houses the Three Caballeros and the Gran Fiesta Tour.
We’ve completed it! Time to go turn it in for our prize! The back of the map says that you can redeem your map for a surprise until April 30th or while supplies last.
I had seen that Disneyland prizes for this year’s Eggstravaganza are cute character eggs. My kids love getting these eggs, and after doing the hunt at Disneyland for multiple years, we’ve built up quite the collection.
In the end, they chose the Orange Bird tumbler, which will go great with our Orange Bird sandwich container that they won from their Spike the Bee Pollen-Nation Exploration scavenger hunt here!
