Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are now officially reopened and I can’t tell you how happy I am to share this Merchandise Update full of goodies from inside the Parks! Highlights include a new collection fit for a tropical hideaway, plus several Ear Headbands, the softest Spirit Jersey I have ever felt, and everything you need to get ready for Pride Month. Get your Park Reservation ready because we are going back inside Disneyland and Disney California Adventure for the first Merchandise Update from inside the parks in over a year!
An Oasis of Palm Trees and Hidden Mickeys
You’ll find pieces from the new Tropical Collection in various stores in the Parks and also in Downtown Disney.
This camp shirt has an all-over print filled with different tropical foliage and the occasional Mickey Mouse thrown in for good measure.
This women’s pullover has a print similar to the camp shirt but also adds Minnie into the mix.
The shorts use the same print as the women’s pullover.
Blink and you’ll miss the Disney elements in this sheer women’s tank. It has a shy Hidden Mickey peeking from behind the word “just” (on the right hand side) and a castle silhouette in “waves.”
That castle silhouette is front and center on this women’s tee, nestled amongst flowers and palm fronds.
Here’s another variation of the castle/flowers combo. I think I like this one better.
This reversible sun hat lets you choose between a more subtle khaki design or a vibrant print. I personally prefer the khaki side. What about you?
Now this is some sweet seasonal headwear! This Ear Headband forgoes the typical bow in the center in favor of faux Hibiscus blossoms. The ears use the same print seen on the women’s pullover and shorts. And “Hello Summer” is embroidered along the side of the band.
“Hello Summer” also appears on the is woven handbag with wooden handles.
This long-sleeve shirt has Mickey chilling on both sides.
This woven hat is decorated with a patch that reads: Mickey’s Surf Shop – If There’s a Will, There’s a Wave.
There is also a kid’s dress in this collection. I hope a kid’s camp shirt also becomes available because the representation seems a little one-sided.
There are plenty of tropical-themed home goods, too. Whether you’re relaxing outside with a cool drink or setting the table for a garden party, Disney has you covered.
I love that the exterior of this scented candle resembles a coconut (if coconuts were Mickey-shaped, that is).
The Minnie decorative pillow would work great as an accent to the woven throw blanket.
More Apparel
This Stitch-themed Spirit Jersey is definitely the softest of its kind that I have encountered. Yes, the fuzzier styles are also soft but the faux fleece used on them was never my favorite. And beyond simply being a tactile joy, I just love the implementation of Stitch on the design, especially the back.
These new shirts bare the bedazzled likenesses of either Mickey or Minnie.
Over at Pieces of Eight in New Orleans Square, you can score yourself a new shirt with art featuring Redd the lady pirate. There are even matching jogger pants to go with it (sold separately, of course).
Our friends from Toy Story 4 are all over the print on this button-down camp shirt.
Also from the Toy Story universe is this new shirt and sleep shorts. Both items pay homage to Pizza Planet, an eatery seen in the first film and numerous Easter eggs.
Add-On These Accessories
Disney has added to its increasingly large variety of reusable cloth face masks with these two new ones. What makes this pair stand apart from the others is that these have a built-in nose fit, to help make it more secure.
I presume this trucker hat is made to match the other Pizza Planet items seen in the previous apparel section (although I don’t see many people rocking this and boxers at the same time).
This tie-dyed Mickey Mouse baseball cap is giving me serious summer nostalgia (I can’t be the only who did tie-dye in camp, right?).
And not only does this backpack match the above baseball cap perfectly, it also has some impressively helpful features of its own. Along with the outer water bottle pockets and a cushioned laptop sleeve, this accessory has an outlet that allows you to attach an external battery on the inside and connect a USB cord on the outside to charge your phone!
If you are in the market for a new purse, two new options have cropped up. You can choose between a satchel style or one that is more like a clutch. The fabric used has printed Hidden Mickeys along with some engraved ones as well.
This and That
The Tropical Ear Headband is not the only new Ear Headband that you can add to your Parks shopping list. The first two are more traditional in design, but the third has a rather unique take on the bow, replacing it with a bundle of ribbon.
Mr. Stork brought over another addition to the Disney Babies line and, goodness, is this one precious. It’s Nana, the sweet St. Bernard dog (now a puppy) from Peter Pan! I love that she still has her little cap on. How can you say “no” to those big, entreating eyes that are just begging you to take her home? My heart can’t take it!
We previously discussed the new plastic-less packaging for the Classic Princess Dolls and what Disney could do to help sell the dolls now that there was no window on the box to see the actual toy. And look at that, my prediction was correct! You’ll see display cases like this one at Disneyland’s Emporium housing examples of the dolls that guests can buy.
Over at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa …
If you pay a visit to the gift shop in the lobby of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa, you’ll notice several new pieces of merchandise— the majority of which are exclusive to the hotel. At present, the only people allowed on the inside are guests staying at the hotel and DVC members. This will change after Napa Rose and Storyteller’s Cafe reopens on May 28, at which point non-hotel guests will be allowed back in. The lobby’s shop, Acorns Gifts & Goods, is currently operating on limited hours, open from around 8am to 2:30pm and then later from 6pm to 9pm. Now, onto the goods!

Disney’s Pride Collection
June is Pride Month and to help gear up for the event, Disney has released their 2021 Pride merchandise also know as the Rainbow Disney Collection. It is wonderful that Disney is being more inclusive when it comes to their merchandise. Disney’s magic is for everyone, after all. And to help spread the love, Disney is also donating money to several LGBTQ+ charities and organizations.
The collection is expansive but I wanted to take a moment to discuss a few items that I thought were particularly special. First up is this Cloth Mask 2-pack ($11.99). These colorful Mickey masks help make covering up fun.
I honestly love everything about this backpack ($39.99). It’s got rainbow-hued zippers, a lovely embroidered Mickey/Rainbow image on the front, and the heartwarming gloves patch near the bottom. And if Disneyland isn’t your “Home Park,” you can also choose a Walt Disney World style.
Coming soon to this Collection are four Hidden Mickey pins ($9.99 each), each with a different color scheme. The one seen below represents the Transgender Flag. Other options include the Intersectional Flag, the Bisexual Flag, and the Lesbian Flag.
In addition to the merchandise seen above, there are nearly 100 items in this colorful collection, available at Disney Parks, Disney Stores, and on shopDisney as well as from global licensing partners and retailers like Amazon, BoxLunch, Funko, Kohl’s, and Torrid. Merchandise from the Rainbow Disney Collection will continue to be released throughout the year.
Here is a sampling of some of the new items:
nuiMOs May Summer Fashion Collection
A new month means new outfits for those posable plush pals, Disney nuiMOs. May brings us the Summer Fashion Collection, with apparel perfect for a day of fun in the sun. Each outfit is $12.99 and, while you will see it modeled here on different nuiMOs, is sold separately from the plushes (those are still $19.99). What is your favorite from this month’s release?
But wait, that’s not all! As part of Disney’s Halfway to Halloween digital event, June’s outfits were revealed. They are themed to the live-action film Cruella, which debuts May 28. You can see the outfits for yourself here:
