Walt Disney World has announced some exciting new information along with some disappointing news for those diehard fans waiting for their Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser experience. Here’s everything we know, including when the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will open, and when you can book!
Delays in the Galactic Starcruiser are Finally Over
Back in January, it was announced that the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser would launch in 2021, then in May the opening was pushed to 2022. The wait for a date is finally over. The grand opening is now set for March 1, 2022.
All-Immersive Experience
The Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser promises to be an all-immersive experience, putting you in the Star Wars story where each of your actions can determine your personal journey.
Your two-night journey begins in the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser terminal. When ready to depart you will enter a Launch Pod, with additional guests, making the jump to hyperspace.
Viewports will provide you with a view of space and your first look at the Halcyon starcruiser, your home for the next two nights.
When the Launch Pod is open, the starcruiser comes to life. There will be opportunities to interact with new and familiar characters. You may even run into the ship’s captain, mechanic, or a galactic superstar who is ready to captivate you with the crook of a jewel-encrusted purple Twi’lek finger.
The Crown of the Corellia Dining Room is bright and welcoming for breakfast and lunch before transitioning for dinner with a multi-course menu consisting of options from both familiar origins and otherworldly delights. The name pays homage to Corellia, the planet whose shipyards built the Millennium Falcon and the Halcyon.
Onboard you can learn about the inner workings of the Halycon or take an excursion to Batuu adding to the adventure in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

The Halcyon is a luxury galactic starcruiser from the Chandrila Star Line where you will voyage into the far reaches of the galaxy.
The Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Itinerary
The sample itinerary includes activities including Sabacc Lessons, Muster, Outer Rim Regalia, Droid Racing, and “Story Moments”. While we are still waiting for the details, some of the Story Moments include hiding Resistance stowaways, stealing a ship from the First Order, and more. Planet excursions to Batuu look to be scheduled to start before park openings but continue well into park hours with lunch at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo.
The Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Accommodations
With accommodations that sleep up to 8, there’s room for the entire family. Options include a Standard Cabin, one-bedroom Galaxy Class Suite, and a two-bedroom Grand Captain Suite.
The Standard Cabin offers bunk beds and sleeps up to 5 people.
The Galaxy Class Suite is a one-bedroom suite with a seating area, sleeps up to 4 people.
The Grand Captain Suite has 2-bedrooms and sleeps up to 8 people.
The Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Dining
The dining experiences on the Halycon offer unique entertainment and first-class cuisine.
Not only will you find some of your favorites from home, but also galactic options such as Bubo Wamba Family Farms blue milk.
You will have the opportunity to eat at the Captain Table, for an additional fee.
Costumes and Attire
We mentioned role-playing, which of course means wearing your galactic attire. Of course, Disney will have you covered with your Star Wars merchandise from shopDisney. While coming in character is encouraged, you are welcome to wear your earthly garbs as well.
What does the Star Wars Hotel Cost?
Pricing for the 2-nights ranges from $4,809 for 2 guests to $5,999 for 3 adults with 1 child. Per the website, included in the price is the 2-night stay in a cabin or suite; food and beverages on the starcruiser (excludes alcoholic and specialty beverages), a quick service meal at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargos (or other Hollywood Studios locations), 1-day admission to Hollywood Studios, Valet parking and an exclusive Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser databand (otherwise known as a MagicBand).
Note the sample pricing is for August 20 – September 17, 2022. The earlier voyages are sure to be set at a premium pricing. And with only 100 cabins and suites, this is sure to be an experience that is hard to come by.
Holy Lightsabers!
Perhaps the most thrilling announcement is the new type of lightsaber! Watch as the lightsaber activates.

But watching it won’t be as exciting as having the chance to train in the ancient ways of the lightsaber onboard the Halcyon.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Reservations
While you have to wait until March to experience the Starcruiser, you don’t have to wait that long to start planning. You can book your experience as soon as October 28.
DVC members have a pre-sale booking window between October 7th and 9th for travel dates of March 1st through May 4th.
Starcruiser Welcome Message
Those who have booked the Galactic Starcruiser have been receiving a message from Endario about their upcoming voyage. She explains your trip to Batuu, introduces your captain, and goes over some of your activities, including building a lightsaber, visiting the bridge, playing Sabaac, or grabbing a cocktail. Some are displayed holography using a phone-like device.
The video ends with a disclaimer to alter any excursion or itinerary in the unlikely event of pirates invasion, sabotage, or planetary uprising, nor are they responsible for galactic unrest.
