This week’s Disneyland Merchandise Update is quite a mixed bag, in a good way! There’s plenty of Disney Parks merchandise goodness for you today, but I’ve also got a slew of other Disney merchandise news to share. From fun new mugs, fancy Disney dresses (with matching purse!), and Disneyland Hotel 65th Anniversary merchandise, plus an animatronic Grogu (The Child) from The Mandalorian, and much more.
What’s New At Downtown Disney
With A Touch of Disney taking place in Disney California Adventure, Buena Vista Street is currently inaccessible to those without an event ticket. And for that reason, this Update will only include the Parks merchandise sold at Downtown Disney.
World of Disney
Disneyland Resort-themed Starbucks tumblers are popular souvenirs of late. Here are two designs that were in-stock when we visited World of Disney last week. The pink cup has art based on Disneyland, with different attractions featured like Space Mountain and it’s a small world. The yellow is the same design but themed to Disney California Adventure, highlighting attractions like Grizzly River Run and Radiator Springs Racers.

What we see below are four different styles of what I am henceforth dubbing “glitter mugs.” Whatever icon is on the side is also floating around in the mug’s handle as shaped glitter. The mugs are themed to either a generic Disney castle, Jasmine, Sleeping Beauty, and the Evil Queen.

Another week, another Loungefly mini backpack, am I right? I can’t really complain (my wallet is another story, however). This time, the mini backpack has a print with stylized art of different Pixar characters on it. How many different movies can you spot?

In terms of things to cover your noggin’, we’ve got two baseball caps with the art of Mickey Balloons on them along with a new Ear Headband. Interestingly, the Ear Headband bears an uncanny resemblance to the Annual Passholder-themed one at Walt Disney World. This one, however, is missing the medallion on the bow. I can’t help wondering if Disney had initially intended these to also be Passholder-themed but then had to change them when Disneyland’s program went the way of the dodo.

Around the store, we spotted several new pieces of adult apparel.

This is an interesting clothing style that I honestly didn’t realize existed. Here we see Mickey and Minnie-themed cropped sweatshirts. They definitely are not my style but if you think you can rock it, more power to you.

Adults don’t get to have all the fun. There are some new, colorful clothes for kids, too. We noticed a sweater covered with doodles and the word “Disneyland” along with a windbreaker with “Disneyland” repeating down the front of it.

We spotted Dooney & Bourke bags from this year’s EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival on a previous trip, now we see an iPhone case from the event has also made its way to this coast. I love how the flowers look like they are being preserved within the case.

A Wilderness Explorer is a friend to all, be it a plant or fish or tiny mole. And now kids can play the part with this Wilderness Explorer Set. It includes a flashlight, shovel, binoculars, neckerchief with neckerchief slide, Wilderness Explorer flag, badge sash, and the very special Grape Soda Pin.

My favorite of the Parks merchandise for this Update has got to be this 50-piece puzzle. It is designed after the Finding Dory-themed billboard found at Pixar Pier in California Adventure. It even comes with an illuminated frame to complete the look. In addition to this style, there are also versions of this puzzle with the art from the other two Pixar Pier billboards, themed to Coco and Wall-E. They were sold out by the time we got to the store, unfortunately, but I am sure they will be restocked.

Disney Dress Shop
There’s a new Disney Dress Shop dress in town and it’s themed to Perdita, the mother dog from 101 Dalmatians. The cardigan included with the dress has the letter “P” embroidered on it, in case there was any doubt.

This new 101 Dalmatian Dooney & Bourke tote would go great with the dress, don’t you agree? Look at all the puppies!

We also caught this Ear Headband with art that matches a previously released Mini Backpack decorated with cutesy Disney Parks characters and other icons. Like the Mini Backpack, this Ear Headband is also made by Loungefly.

Wonderground Gallery
The 65th Anniversary merchandise for the Disneyland Hotel is a tad late (the hotel opened on October 5th, 1955) but I am still pleased with their existence. Available items include a towel, ornament, magnet, picture frame, raglan shirt, women’s t-shirt, and sweatshirt.

And yes, even more items coming to us from the creative mind of Jerrod Maruyama and his collaboration with Disney have landed at Wonderground Gallery.

What’s New at shopDisney
Another set of those Collectible Disney Keys has popped up on shopDisney and this time, it is all about The Mouse. This is the Mickey Mouse through the Years Special Edition Collectible Key Set ($29.99) and it contains three pieces, each themed to a different phase in Mickey’s career thus far. On them, you’ll spot art from classic shorts like Plane Crazy, Steamboat Willie, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, The Little Whirlwind, Mickey and the Beanstalk, his appearance in the Mickey Mouse Club, and others.

Easter is almost here and the shopDisney Magical Egg Hunt Adventure is in full swing. As we mentioned in the previous Merchandise Update, this digital event lets you and your family take part in a Disney-themed egg hunt from the comfort of your own home. The activity is available now through April 4.

Disney Surprises Us With a New Video of Duffy and Friends
Even though Duffy the Disney Bear and his animal friends have a presence in Tokyo DisneySea as well as Hong Kong Disneyland and Shanghai Disneyland. For us in the United States, Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa, in Hawaii is the only place to find the cuddly critters (except for Gelatoni for some mysterious reason). But regardless of where you are located on this big, blue marble, I think you will appreciate this heartwarming stop-motion video. And seriously, Disney, we need Duffy and friends back at the US Parks, like, yesterday.
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway Makes a Stop at BoxLunch
BoxLunch now has a collection of merchandise themed to Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Yes, I realize this is an attraction found at Walt Disney World, not Disneyland (at least for now), but the collection, which includes adult and kids apparel along with accessories and pins, is something special. Plus, it even includes a contest for a trip to Walt Disney World!

In my opinion, the best items in this collection are the pins. There are four of them (Goofy, Mickey, Daisy Duck, and Pluto) and, like actual train cars, they connect to each other!

And in addition to the four I just listed, there is also a complimentary Pluto pin, exclusive to D23 Gold members! You will need to take a voucher (which you can find here) to a BoxLunch location and show it to receive the pin. Additionally, when you redeem the voucher, you also net yourself a coupon for 25% off an in-store purchase between April 5 through 18.

Share a Bite with Galactic Snackin’ Grogu
Hasbro has been responsible for creating many Grogu toys in the past (heck, many were made even before we knew his name was “Grogu!”) and now they are pushing the envelope further with their Galactic Snackin’ Grogu toy ($79.99).

Galactic Snackin’ Grogu comes with four accessories, which you can see in the images below, and will interact with them in different ways. If you put an item to his mouth, he will react to show whether or not he finds it “tasty.” He also has a “Force Activation” move, which mimics the two-handed levitation feat seen in season 2 of The Mandalorian. In addition to interacting with his included accessories, Grogu will also reach up with his arms when he wants you to hold him.

This toy will ship in Fall 2021 but is available to pre-order now from the following sources:
Hasbro Pulse, Amazon, Walmart, shopDisney, and Target
Prepare for Adventure with Build-a-Bear Workshop’s Raya and the Last Dragon Collection
I don’t know about all of you but I simply adore Raya and the Last Dragon. It is such a jaw-droppingly beautiful film with a story full of heart. And I was elated to discover that one of my favorite toy stores, Build-a-Bear Workshop, recently launched a collection themed to the movie. I should point out this “collection” only has two items and one of them is still listed as “coming soon” but I am just happy to see representation at all.
The first item is the Online Exclusive Sisu Plush ($32). Doesn’t this dragon look majestic, with her fluffy mane and intricately painted body? I just love how they handled her face. She looks so happy and full of peace. This plush friend is bigger than the typical Build-a-Bear plush and thus, will not be able to be shipped in a standard-sized gift box or even one of those cute Cub Condos (for those of you who are unfamiliar, it is a small cardboard house that plushes are traditionally sent home in, both from stores and online).

The second piece in this collection is the Raya Costume ($18), which is also an online exclusive item. This is one that is listed as “coming soon” and not currently available for purchase. The costume includes a yellow and green jumpsuit made to look like Raya’s outfit along with a red cape. You can see some thought went into the design of this one with the attention to detail. There are patterns on the neckline and hem of the cape as well as on the belt and layering on the pants.

Another Marvel Hero Legends Joins the Team
And finally, we have the Marvel Hero Legends Series Avengers Captain America John F. Walker figure ($22.99). Boy, if that isn’t a mouthful, I don’t know what is. The action figure is based on John F. Walker as Captain America. He stands at 6-inches tall and has multiple points of articulation for posing. John also comes packaged with an interchangeable, non-masked face along with his shield. This item is currently available for pre-order and will ship this Fall.
