It’s “Christmas in July” for Disney as they offer information and merchandise for the coming holiday season! I’ll be taking on the role of one Santa’s merry elves as I walk you through some of Disney’s upcoming seasonal offerings. Set a festive mood and let’s get a move on!

Disney Parks Holiday Collection

Mickey and Minnie Gingerbread Ear Headband ($29.99)

A freshly-baked take on last year’s gingerbread Ear Headband. I think I actually prefer this design over the older one. There is more detail in the gingerbread “ears” and I love that the bow is now made to look like a peppermint candy rather than just a generic one. I suspect this one will be a hot ticket item come holiday season.

This item will be available in Winter 2020 at Disney Parks and shopDisney.

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Mickey Mouse Gingerbread Hat ($29.99)

For those who want to feel gingerbread-y but also want something more functional, Disney created this hat. It still has that jolly gingerbread Mickey on top, along with plush ears and Santa cap attached, but will also keep the sun off your face.

This item will be available in Winter 2020 at Disney Parks and shopDisney.

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Happy Holidays Walt Disney World Women’s T-Shirt ($29.99)

Such festive lettering! Some icons from the Magic Kingdom get a holiday makeover on this women’s shirt. I loved the inclusion of the Tiki bird (I have a soft spot for them). Hopefully, men will get a fun shirt like this one as well.

This item will be available in Winter 2020 at Disney Parks and shopDisney.

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Disney Parks Holiday Baking Set ($39.99)

I gushed over the gingerbread Mickey and Minnie in the previous items and this set will help me make my own! Included in this set are two metal gingerbread cookie cutters, two spatulas, and a mixing bowl. And you’ll note that the mixing bowl has gingerbread versions of other characters (like Pluto) and icons (like the Castle) in addition to Mickey and Minnie. This set would make a lovely gift (it even comes pre-wrapped) but if I had to add one additional item, it would be the Disney Parks gingerbread cookie recipe.

This item will be available in Winter 2020 at Disney Parks and shopDisney.

Disney Parks Holiday Towel Set ($21.99)

Everything about this towel set says “jolly holiday sugar rush” and I love it. These towels are so darling, I would be almost afraid to use them. What do you all use them for: clean up or as decor?

This item will be available in Winter 2020 at Disney Parks and shopDisney.

Disney Parks Vintage Collection

Disney Parks Vintage Christmas Throw Blanket ($59.99)

The color scheme and art style of this reversible throw blank evokes a vintage Christmas card. The art is charming, especially Pluto keeping an eye out for Santa. Add the castle in the window and now I am getting all teary-eyed.

Available now at Walt Disney World.

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Disney Parks Vintage Christmas Pillow ($34.99)

This pillow is made to match the throw blanket we just saw. And while it does have that vintage look, it seems very plain in comparison. Although, maybe that makes it more versatile in terms of decorating.

Available now at Walt Disney World.

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Disney Parks Christmas Light-Up Figurine ($39.99)

In this figurine, vintage-style Mickey and Minnie walk hand-in-hand down a snowy street as pair of snowmen look on. I’d like to imagine it is Main Street, USA, because of the wreath on the lamp post. This is a “light-up” figurine, so sensibly the street light turns on.

Available now at Walt Disney World.

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Disney Parks Christmas Ornament ($29.99)

This ornament takes a classic pinecone ornament and nestles a scene of Mickey and Pluto decorating a Christmas tree within it. The contrast of the shiny outside with the figures inside complement each other quite well.

Available now at Walt Disney World.

Ornaments from shopDisney

We previously peeked at some of shopDisney’s ornament selection. Now we’ll take a more in-depth look!

Fantasia 80th Anniversary Legacy Sketchbook Ornament ($24.99)

To celebrate Fantasia’s 80th anniversary, a metal Sorcerer Mickey conjures up memories beneath a glass Sorcerer’s Hat, as seen in the Sorcerer’s Apprentice. It’s a classic, more antique look, fitting for such a big anniversary.

Available now on shopDisney.

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Wall-E and E.V.E Sketchbook Ornament ($19.99)

With this ornament, we can confirm that robots do in fact celebrate the holidays. Wall-E’s Christmas tree is in the little boot! That little detail makes ornament all the more special.

Available now on shopDisney.

Aurora Fairytale Moments Sketchbook Ornament – Sleeping Beauty ($24.99)

Sleeping Beauty has always been one of my favorite Disney movies so this ornament resonates strongly with me. Choosing the “Once Upon a Dream” scene as the inspiration for the ornament is a, I think, wise choice because of its inclusion of Aurora’s woodland friends. Who better to adorn a Christmas tree than happy furry and feathered critters?

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Pocahontas Fairytale Moments Sketchbook Ornament ($24.99)

Flit and Meeko accompany Pocahontas on her canoe ride to see what is “just around the river bend.” The water details give the ornament a sense of- kinetic energy.

Available now at shopDisney.

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Merida Fairytale Moments Sketchbook Ornament – Brave ($24.99)

Merida may be the heroine of the movie but what draws my eye in this ornament are the little Will o’ the Wisps. They look so ethereal and somehow playful.

Available now on shopDisney.

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Mulan Fairytale Moments Sketchbook Ornament ($24.99)

The dragon Mushu’s fiery energy surrounds an armored Mulan in this ornament. Mulan has her father’s sword at her side, which is a nice detail.

Available now at shopDisney.

Jasmine Fairytale Moments Sketchbook Ornament- Aladdin ($24.99)

Here we see Jasmine resting by the fountain in the palace garden. But as lovely as Jasmine is, that fountain seems more impressive. The tail of the peacock statue at the fountain’s peak is made of “water” spraying. And there are even water lilies floating in the bottom.

Available now on shopDisney.

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Snow White Fairytale Moments Sketchbook Ornament ($24.99)

This ornament has a sort of rustic look, fitting for a dwarves’ cabin hidden in the woods. Snow White smiles proudly at pie she baked, now resting on the windowsill. And it looks like the neighborhood animals want a sample!

Available now on shopDisney.

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Ariel Fairytale Moments Sketchbook Ornament ($24.99)

Ariel’s extravagant human bed holds her and Sebastian as they have a heart-to-heart. Well, having lost her voice, I guess the crab did all the talking (boy, that was a weird sentence to write out).

Available now at shopDisney.

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Cinderella Fairytale Moments Sketchbook Ornament ($24.99)

Here we see Cinderella trying on the glass slipper. The storybook background is such a lovely touch. I am surprised that this concept wasn’t used for some of the other princesses’ ornaments as well.

Available now on shopDisney.

Belle Fairytale Moments Sketchbook Ornament ($24.99)

This Belle ornament’s big draw her fabric skirt. If you don’t want your ornaments too ornate, this is a great option. Personally, I find this ornament a tad disappointing compared to the previous options.

Available now on shopDisney.

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Anna and Olaf Fairytale Moments Sketchbook Ornament – Frozen 2 ($24.99)

It wouldn’t be a winter holiday without a Frozen reference, am I right? Taken from a scene in Frozen 2, we see Anna and Olaf in their ice canoe.

Available now on shopDisney.

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Peter Pan and Darling Children Sketchbook Ornament ($19.99)

Peter Pan leads Wendy, Michael, and Jon flying past Big Ben, leaving trails of glittery pixie dust. This fanciful ornament is a good option for someone looking for a (slightly) cheaper Disney ornament or one that doesn’t involve princesses.

Available now on shopDisney.

Ornaments from Hallmark

Disney The Little Mermaid Ariel and Flounder Metal Ornament ($59.99)

Yes, this ornament is considerably pricier than the ones we have looked at so far but there is a reason. The metal figure of Ariel and her fishy friend, Flounder, is decorated with gemstone accents. Whether or not this makes it worth the price point is your call, of course.

Available now from Hallmark.

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Disney Princess Celebration Cinderella Porcelain Ornament ($29.99)

This porcelain ornament of Cinderella in lovely ball gown has a fun feature that makes it all the more magical: the image of Cinderella’s castle is sculpted into her skirt! This ornament is the first in Hallmark’s Disney Princess Celebration collector’s series.

Available now from Hallmark.

Disney/Pixar Toy Story Pizza Planet Truck 25th Anniversary Ornament ($19.99)

In honor of Toy Story’s 25th anniversary, Hallmark crafted this Pizza Planet ornament. Known for making cameos in other Disney/Pixar films, this truck can now make a special appearance on your tree. And the rocket atop the truck even lights up!

Available now from Hallmark.

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Disney/Pixar Wall-E Soaks Up the Sun Ornament ($17.99)

It’s not often we see Wall-E in solar power mode. Hallmark did a good job of making our robot friend appear fittingly weathered. Make sure he’s under a tree light so the effect is complete.

Available now from Hallmark.

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Disney/Pixar Toy Story 4 Bo Peep Ornament ($15.99)

If you’re looking for someone to wrangle your ornaments when you’re not home, Hallmark’s got the perfect option. Bo Peep is poised for action with her crook in hand and ready to overcome any challenge.

Available now from Hallmark.

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Disney/Pixar Monsters, Inc. Boo and Little Mikey Ornament ($17.99)

Precious little Boo cuddles with Mike Wazowski’s Little Mikey plush. Children sure do love the holidays, don’t they?

Available now from Hallmark.

Christmas in July, Unseasonal Greetings! All-New Disney 2020 Holiday Merch

Disney/Pixar Inside Out Anger Ornament with Light ($19.99)

Anger seems like an odd choice when they could have chosen Joy, which you would think would be more representative of the holiday season. But the ornament itself looks impressively like the character and I like that his hair lights up at the push of a button.

Available now from Hallmark.

Other Pieces of Holiday Joy

Holiday Magic in the Parks: Celebrations Around the World from Fall to Winter” by Graham Allen, Rebecca Cline, and Charlie Price ($60)

If you can’t be on Disney property to celebrate the holidays, this book may be the next best thing. Three of Disney’s archivists have spent the last ten years collecting information and photos to last a lifetime. Here is the synopsis provided by the publisher:

This deluxe jacketed hardcover is visual storytelling at its best. Almost 1,900 photographs (two-thirds of them taken just for this book) showcase Disney’s key locations filled with special holiday menu offerings, the biggest parade and stage productions and nighttime spectacles, the tiniest decorating details from amazing artists and designers, and, of course, the most significant historical holiday events. A harmonic trio of researchers, writers, and photographers logged more than 180,000 miles visiting every Disney park and resort across the globe, personally documenting the holiday installations through eighty thousand photographs and, wherever possible, meeting the talented and endlessly passionate artisans behind it all.

With twelve theme parks and dozens of resort hotels, plus numerous cruise ships, dining and shopping districts, and more than six decades of holiday experiences, there are a lot of pumpkin treatments and ornate trees to reflect upon. (The smallest holiday tree at a Disney property is just four inches high, while the very tallest reaches up to seventy feet.) Every parade or show requires dozens (sometimes hundreds) of creative magicians both onstage and off. And each decoration is chosen carefully to fit within a story and is expertly placed on its tree or garland by craftspeople backstage. The decor is installed onstage, maintained, and, ultimately, disassembled by technicians before it is once again cleaned, prepared, and stored in vast warehouses . . . till next year’s event. The stories and contributions from so many unsung Cast Members (often hard at work at hours of the night when others are asleep) fill these pages, along with the joys of Halloween, Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year celebrations. Time to join the party!
