Following yesterday’s blockbuster announcement of Walt Disney World’s reopening plans, there was another Disney announcement that was largely overlooked. Disney stores across the US, Japan and Europe are planning reopenings in the coming weeks as well. Here are some of the changes you can expect to see on your next visit to your local Disney store.

Disney Store Reopening

In a message sent out to guests, Edward Park (Senior Vice President of Disney store and shopDisney) outlined some of the changes coming to their physical stores. One of the most obvious is that visitors will be required to have a mask for entry and are expected to practice social distancing while in the store. Additionally, in-store occupancy will be capped and in-store events are postponed for the time being.

Included in the message is a warning about the inherent risk of visiting any public place amid the COVID-19 outbreak. Although Disney store is increasing its health and safety procedures, guests will assume the voluntary risks of virus exposure when visiting Disney stores. Guests are encouraged to visit shopDisney’s “Know Before You Go” page before visiting their local Disney store.

For the moment, Disney stores will not be selling any Limited Edition or Limited Release products. These collectible items will only be available online through shopDisney. (Good luck with that given shopDisney’s track record of collectible items selling out virtually instantly)

It’s not gonna be Spring for much longer. Doesn’t feel like Easter at all.

While public health is largely dependent on individual participation, it’s good to see the Disney store’s plans on making their stores ready for visiting. Are you looking forward to the Disney stores reopening? Do the safety precautions give you comfort to shop again? Is there something you’ve been waiting to pick up from a Disney store while they’ve been closed? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
