As the months stretch onward, my longing for Disneyland grows stronger by the day. The magic, the music, the stories, the people . . . but one of the things I remember most fondly is the food.

There are plenty of must-eat items on every Disneyland enthusiast’s list: churros, Dole Whips, and beignets for example. But besides the classics, the seasonal treats, limited-time offerings and special event eats, the folks at Disneyland are updating their year-round menus all the time. It definitely keeps things interesting for us foodies. Here’s a list of my top 5 favorite regular menu items at the Disneyland Resort. Let me know how I did and add your own top 5 items you most miss in the comments below.

Nachos at Grand Californian Hotel’s Craftsman Grill

I’m a sucker for nachos with creamy cheese sauce as opposed to gloppy melted shredded cheese. You know, the bright orange kind they serve with your movie theater nachos. The folks at the GCH Craftsman Grill created a winner when they decided to use a cheese sauce with several kinds of cheese to maximize the flavor of their nachos. It also has all the fancier accouterments like guacamole, pico de gallo, jalapenos, queso fresco, crema, and cilantro. They’re so decadent and so good. Pro tip: You can order them with half beef, half chicken if you want the best of both worlds.

Jack-Jack Cookie Num Num in Pixar Pier at Disney California Adventure

I had heard all the hype about this cookie but how good could it actually be? Well, all I have to say is I can’t believe I went so long without trying one. The key to this treat is that it is served soft and warm, so every bite is filled with melted chocolate gooeyness, with a delightful brown butter flavor that gives it a homemade taste. And they are big enough to share, but why would you want to? My only regret was not getting another one.

Crispy Piggy Wings at Lamplight Lounge

These sticky, sweet, savory chunks of pork are delectable and amazingly, safe for those with milk and nut allergies to enjoy (consult your server before ordering). Each piece is cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The chili-ginger glaze is slightly spicy, but not enough to stop you from eating it all in record time.

Pineapple and Orange Swirl at The Tropical Hideaway

Is it sacrilege to admit that I’m more of a fan of Walt Disney World’s Orange Swirl than I am of Disneyland’s Dole Whip? Well if you’re like me, you’re in luck. This version combines the classic pineapple flavor with an orange soft serve, adding a citrusy swirl to the original Disneyland treat. I know it seems simple, but it’s nice to change things up while still staying true to a classic. Plus, The Tropical Hideaway is one of the few places in the park where you can find a peaceful respite from the masses.

Fried Chicken Meal at The Plaza Inn

If there’s one meal I love above all others at the Disneyland Resort, it’s this one. The exterior of the chicken has the perfect crispness and it never overshadows the juicy, tender, flavorful meat. The Colonel has nothing on these herbs and spices! And the mashed potatoes are no slouch either. They’re wonderfully smooth and creamy. It’s the perfect meal and legendary for a reason, it’s comfort food and nostalgia all wrapped up in one delicious dish.
