The future is full of walls, my friends! Or, at least that’s what Future World looks like right now at Walt Disney World’s Epcot. As giant parts of Future World are dismantled for a major renovation of the park, construction walls are going up and buildings are coming down. We’re getting closer to experiencing Disney’s new vision for the park, but there are still some major growing pains (and demolition) ahead. There’s a lot to see, so settle in and let’s get started!
Entrance Area and Spaceship Earth
So many walls! This is the view of Spaceship Earth once you enter the park.
Although there aren’t any decorations at the park’s entrance, there are some wrapped presents off to the side.
Not that I’m trying to make anyone jealous, but we’re having some beautiful December weather in Central Florida. About 90 percent of the year it’s hot and humid, but right now it’s balmy and the perfect temperature to visit Disney World.
This mural at the character meet and greet is a tribute to Herb Ryman’s Epcot Center illustrations.
Camera Center…and Pin Traders?
The Camera Center and Pin Traders have been merged into a single building.
For more information about the updated Pin Traders location, read the article below!
Going with the theme of this update, there are more walls. This time, on the west side of Spaceship Earth. Major demolition is going on back there to make way for the Moana walkthrough.
The Art of Disney has been relocated to the American Adventure pavilion. Man…that’s a long walk.
Innoventions West is in the middle of being demolished. Are you sad to see it go?
Guardian of the Galaxy
You can now see the Guardians of the Galaxy show building from Innoventions plaza since so many trees have been cleared.
More walls at the entrance to Innoventions East.
For the time being, we can’t get too close to the new Guardians ride or the upcoming Play Pavilion thanks to all the walls!
Guardians is getting a nice pop of color with the new color scheme.
The Play Pavilion
There is a new mural featuring art for the Play Pavilion in front of the old Wonders of Life.
Space 220
The fully themed space restaurant, next to Mission Space, looks like it’s going to miss its end of the year opening.
MouseGear will be getting major design changes as part of Epcot’s overhaul. Currently, it’s basically a tunnel of construction walls to get into the place.
Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure should eventually be making way for the new DuckTales experience.
Club Cool and Innoventions
Here are some close up shots of what used to be Club Cool and Innoventions.
This is approximately where the new multi-level Festival Hub will be going.
The new restrooms in between Future World and World Showcase look to be almost ready.
Is that a Starbucks?
In case you were nervous about Starbucks disappearing . . . have no fear, there’s a temporary location going in.
More demolition views, for those who just can’t get enough.
We believe these merchandise kiosks near Journey Into Imagination are new. Thoughts?
This view will dramatically change over the next few years.
