Can you believe there are only eight more weeks until Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios?
Neither can we…
In this update, we’re taking a look at all of the changes, additions and spires at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Let’s Go!
Discount Disney World Tickets?
Yes, you heard that right!!!

The new entry plaza looks great and offers improved bus and tram stops.
Hollywood Boulevard!
Mickey’s of Hollywood is still under refurbishment, along with Keystone Clothiers. Signs are directing guests to visit Celebrity 5 & 10 and Once Upon a Time.
I can’t wait to see what gets changed or updated in the stores.
Echo Lake
There are still lots of walls up throughout the park in the last rush before Galaxy’s Edge opens.
And we still have so many great details located throughout the Echo Lake area.
The Disney’s Hollywood Studios sigh is a great photo op, except when they leave it lit during the nightly extravaganzas.
There are new walls over by the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. Anyone know what’s going on?
There are more Guest Experience Team locations in DHS now. (I still think it looks like they’re selling hot dogs.)
Over by the speeder bike photo area, you can see more temporary walls. Are they moving the bike to Galaxy’s Edge?
I doubt that the Grand Avenue entrance to Batuu is going to be this empty when the new land finally opens.
Speaking of crowds. Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge opened to only moderate crowds and wait times of an hour or less (on average) for the Millennium Falcon attraction. What’s your best guess on what will happen at Hollywood Studios?
Commissary Lane
The ABC Commissary, featuring quick-service lunch and casual dinner has reopened after refurbishment.
A large set of walls is up near what we are assuming will be the queue area for Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
I’m super excited about this new attraction. What about you?
The handicap accessible ramp is behind walls, too, so Disney is routing guests down to the Animation Courtyard to get back into the center of the park. Hopefully, this will not last very long.
I wonder what movie is coming out next…
Toy Story Land and the Spires of Batuu
Toy Story Land opened this time last year. Crazy to think that we are almost at the opening for Galaxy’s Edge!
It’s Forky!
There is now a Forky photo op in the land.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
A view of Batuu. I think that building is The Marketplace. Check out this article featuring aerial shots of Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

It looks like the East Coast version of Batuu is going to be much more colorful.
Slinky Dog Dash is still commanding waits of more than an hour. Being so close to Star Wars Land will probably make those waits swell.
Don’t bother asking…this guy isn’t giving up the dirt on Batuu.
“Wal” Disney Presents…hmmm…
Sunset Boulevard
More gift shops closed on Sunset Boulevard. They are reworking the stores prior to the expected surge in crowds for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
These Hollywood Tower Hotel flags have seen better days.
That does it for this week!
What do you think about all the last minute clean-up and refurbishment before the opening of the biggest expansion in Disney’s Hollywood Studios history?
Will you be attending in late August and braving the heat and crowds? Let us know in the comments below. Thanks for reading!
