House of Blues is one of those often overlooked dining treasures at Downtown Disney.  The food is fantastic and the prices aren’t any higher than a typical Disney location.  While the Sunday gospel brunch draws a huge crowd, the main dining room usually has walk-up availability even on the busiest of days.  We headed over to House of Blues at lunch time after an early movie at the AMC theaters nearby.  My gluten-free daughter was a bit skeptical that she would find something on the menu for her picky palate. She was pleasantly surprised to find that the fish tacos, one of her favorite meals, were already safe for her to eat.  The fish was a flaky, white fish similar to Mahi Mahi or Corvina that had been lightly grilled to perfection.  The lunch portion of the fish tacos included 3 small corn tortillas stuffed with cabbage, fish and cheese and drizzled with a light sauce and a salsa on the side. We asked for tomatoes to be added to ours as well.  One word – YUM!  The only complaint was that there should have been 4 tortillas instead of 3 because they were so delicious.

My friend, without food allergies, opted for the bacon wrapped meatloaf and practically inhaled it.  This one would be a bit tougher to modify for allergy guests but anything with bacon deserves a mention in my book. The meatloaf was ladled over a bed of mashed potatoes and green beans and covered in a mushroom gravy.  Did I mention the bacon?

The next time you find yourself at Downtown Disney without an ADR, pop into House of Blues.  They are just as attentive as the Disney owned restaurants to food allergies and the food is amazing!
