My favorite time of year is finally here! Not much I don’t love about fall. Crisp air, jeans and boots, hot chocolate and HALLOWEEN!! Luckily, the Disney Parks love the spooky holiday as much as I do, and Mickey hosts not so scary parties on both coasts. While costumes aren’t required, it’s not often that we get to trick-or-treat through a kingdom, so I encourage guests to go all out for the parties. Here are a few costume ideas for Mickey’s Halloween party at Magic Kingdom and Disneyland.

Disney Movie Characters

Obviously, this is a go-to for many party goers. You’re in the Most Magical or Happiest Place on Earth, so deck out in your Disney best! The Disney princesses, of course, are very popular at the parties for both kidlets and grown-ups, as are Captain Jack and the rest of the Pirates crew. It’s quick and easy to whip up a Mickey costume with a black shirt and red shorts (yellow shoes for bonus points!) and a set of Mickey ears from the Emporium. Going with your favorite gal? Have her don a polka dot dress and snag her a set of matching ears. The Toy Story gang are often favorites, as well. You really can’t go wrong with someone on the home team.

Get Park Wise: Disney movies lend themselves perfectly to group or couples costumes. Outfit the family in red tees, and go as everyone’s favorite family of superheroes, the Incredibles. Grab your girls and fairy up! Your guys would make a perfect set of seven dwarfs (and maybe even Snow White!). Parties (and costumes!) are more fun with friends, so suit up your crew and hit the park.

Disney Parks Theme

While cast members play it up with Disney characters, they go even crazier for the super fans who pull the parks into their costumes. The 999 happy haunts are always a crowd pleaser whether you opt to be a hitchhiking ghost, tightrope girl or murderous bride. Looking for happier trappings? There are a plethora of ideas in the happiest cruise that ever sailed. Channel Mary Blair, and don’t forget to sing that song all around the park. Rather go comfy? Invest in some transfer paper, and sport a custom tee. My mom went as a FastPass one year, and it was a big hit.

Another favorite (and easy!) costume for a group of any size is the mouseketeers. All it takes is a tee and a pair of Mickey ears, and you’re good to go. While Hannah Montana costumes have come and gone, there’s no shortage of Disney Channel shows to pull inspiration from for your party gear. And you can’t go wrong dressing as the man himself, Walt Disney!

More Fun

We’ve seen our share of Shreks, Harry Potters and SpongeBobs haunting the Magic Kingdom, and it always gets a fun reaction. Find your favorite Universal costume, and get ready for some good-natured ribbing.

Anything with glow sticks! Slip into an all black outfit, and snap those bad boys. We’ve seen Mickey heads, skeletons and Tron-esque costumes glowing their way through the party, and they always turn heads.

Look to pop culture, and pick out your favorite video game, pop star or athlete and pay homage in the parks.
