Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois inside of a small house that his father built with his own hands. Now, 113 years later, a team of dedicated Disney fans and historians are working to preserve the house as a part of the Walt Disney Birthplace Project.

Interview With the Executive Director of the Project

Todd Regan, the Dusty Sage of MiceChat, serves at the Executive Director of the Walt Disney Birthplace Project. He joins me today on the Disney Dose podcast to discuss all of goals of the project in preserving the house and all of the creative things that the team has done to raise money.

This project has gone beyond restoring an old house. It has grown to include research into the formative years of Walt Disney’s life, the creation of teaching programs for kids around the country, and interactive exhibits to educate you about the history of Walt Disney. The goal is to empower families to raise powerful creative thinkers that will be leading our world someday.

More Specifically We Talked About:

  • Purchasing the house where Walt Disney was born
  • Restarting a vintage soda brand called O-Zell to fund the project
  • Goal to teach kids to reach for the sky and live out their dreams
  • Difficulties of restoring the house and keeping up with the historic landmark code
  • How you can help.
  • Oh yeah, we can’t forget about the O-Zell Soda theme song that you just have to hear.
