Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby and Earl of Sandwich have officially opened at Downtown Disney, creating a new two-story dining destination at the west end of the district. We visited both restaurants twice during opening week, and our biggest surprise wasn’t the $73 Beef Wellington. It was how much value, personality, and genuine hospitality we found throughout the building.

Upstairs, The Carnaby serves elevated British comfort food in a colorful setting inspired by 1960s London. Downstairs, Earl of Sandwich offers fan-favorite sandwiches starting at $10.99, along with a new Carvery and Pub. Together, they deliver something the resort could use more of: memorable food, choices at several price points, and service that makes guests feel genuinely welcome.

Here’s what to order, where to sit, and how to make the most of your visit.
Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby
Inspired by London’s iconic Carnaby Street, The Carnaby brings 1960s London to life through its colorful design, creative cocktails, and a menu featuring Chef Ramsay’s celebrated British fare, all underscored by the music of Britain’s cultural revolution.

The Carnaby has indoor and outdoor seating as well as two full bars.

The indoor bar sits at the top of the entry stairs and is sure to become a lively gathering spot once the establishment is operating at full capacity. There’s also a smaller outdoor bar at the back of the restaurant.

Chef Ramsay’s signature dishes include his legendary Beef Wellington, Fish & Chips, Bangers & Mash, and Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Plenty of diners will focus on the $73 Beef Wellington and declare The Carnaby outrageously expensive.

To be clear, The Carnaby is not inexpensive. But for a table-service restaurant in Downtown Disney, the menu has a surprising number of approachable options. Three of our favorites are the fabulously juicy, heavily truffled Carnaby Wagyu Burger for $25; a $38 Cottage Pie slathered in cheesy mashed potatoes and filled with pot-roast-like beef short rib that will have you plotting a return visit; and a giant portion of Fish & Chips for $33. It’s British comfort food, elevated just enough to appeal to American tastes.
Your server will likely advise you to save room for the Sticky Toffee Pudding. We can confirm that it’s well worth setting aside a little space for dessert.

And did we mention the Prime Rib Cart? Unique to The Carnaby, it brings a little extra fun to see your dinner carved tableside.

More Carnaby Reservations Added
After selling out the initial reservations through September, The Carnaby has increased its nightly dining capacity, expanded dinner hours, and released reservations through December 30, 2026. Reservations can be made via OpenTable or on the restaurant’s website. And it’s already going quickly. Don’t dilly-dally.

“The excitement surrounding The Carnaby has exceeded even our highest expectations,” said Robert Earl, Founder of Earl Enterprises. “Seeing initial reservations sell out within minutes affirmed what we believed from the beginning: guests were ready for a dining experience unlike anything else at Downtown Disney. We’re excited to welcome even more guests while maintaining the exceptional hospitality and culinary experience that define The Carnaby.”

Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby is open for dinner nightly from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Expect to see lunch service added soon.
MiceChat Tips for The Carnaby
The Carnaby has a substantial amount of outdoor dining. On hot days, request indoor or shaded seating. Built-in heaters should help keep the patios comfortable during cooler winter evenings. Many balcony tables on the Parkside Stage side of the building should also have great views of Disneyland’s fireworks (on nights they happen).

Dining alone? The indoor bar may become one of our favorite haunts. You can order from the full menu, grab a drink, and belly up to the bar without committing to a traditional table. The staff are among the friendliest we’ve encountered at the resort. That makes all the difference.
If The Carnaby’s prices still stretch the budget, head downstairs. Earl of Sandwich serves some delicious sandwiches for just $10.99.
Earl of Sandwich
The Carnaby’s grand opening was celebrated alongside the return of the fan-favorite Earl of Sandwich, which debuted an all-new expanded dining experience at the Disneyland Resort. The celebration even featured an appearance by the 12th Earl of Sandwich himself, Luke Montagu. With the opening of the newest Earl of Sandwich, Montagu declared that the brand has reached “Peak Sandwich.”

Founded by Robert Earl in partnership with the 11th Earl of Sandwich, John Montagu, and his son, Orlando Montagu, the brand traces its heritage back to 1762, when the 4th Earl of Sandwich inspired one of the world’s most iconic meals.
“We didn’t want to simply build another Earl of Sandwich; we wanted to create a destination worthy of the Downtown Disney District,” Robert said. “As Downtown Disney enters an exciting new chapter, we saw an opportunity to reimagine what Earl of Sandwich could be alongside it. This new location honors our heritage while creating moments of discovery around every corner, all while delivering the quality, exceptional value, and hospitality our guests have come to expect from us.”

Robert Earl was on hand to open his two new restaurants and to make sure every detail met his standards. He’s a real character in the most charming way, quick with a quip and an incredible story from his years cavorting with British royalty and stars.
We visited both establishments twice during opening week and ran into Robert on each occasion. He made a point of stopping to say hello, offer a tip, or ask a question every time we saw him. He’s the sort of proprietor who becomes part of an establishment’s lore and builds a loyal following. And that he has.

In addition to the Earl’s beloved toasted sandwiches, the new Downtown Disney location introduces The Carvery, where premium pastrami is carved fresh for a new sandwich made with layers of slow-cooked pastrami, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, Dijonnaise, and Thousand Island. It’s a standout.

But don’t worry, Earl of Sandwich fans. Most of the longtime favorites, including The Full Montagu, The Original 1762, and the Holiday Turkey Sandwich, are still here. You’ll also find deli sandwiches, wraps, salads, and a selection of sweet treats, including ridiculously oversized cookies.

The new Pub offers draft beers, wines, frozen cocktails, and refreshing seasonal beverages. It’s a significant upgrade from the brand’s previous temporary Downtown Disney locations.

Earl of Sandwich is open daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. (Operating hours as of the time of publication; subject to change at any time, especially for a new establishment.)
MiceChat Tips for Earl of Sandwich
Earl of Sandwich is just a short walk from the Downtown Disney Monorail station. If you’re looking for a quick and affordable alternative to Disneyland’s more expensive food, a fan favorite is only a Monorail ride away. (But please note that the Monorail frequently suspends service mid-day during hot weather).
We’ve also made a habit of buying sandwiches on the way home from the parks. They make an easy meal for the car, and if you can resist finishing the whole thing, you may even have enough left for lunch the next day.

In an era when prices keep climbing, portions shrink, and customer service too often feels like an afterthought, the new Earl of Sandwich and Carnaby complex bucks the trend. The food didn’t disappoint, there are choices at a full range of price points, and the staff act as though they genuinely want you there. Disney and the rest of the resort’s restaurant operators should take note. This is what hospitality is supposed to look like.

We wish Robert Earl and his expanding empire great success. He has earned the praise of his loyal fans, largely by treating them like kings and queens.

📣 EDITOR’S NOTE: If you didn’t notice above, the Carnaby has increased its capacity and hours through the end of the year and has released reservations on OpenTable. Don’t sleep on this; they are booked pretty solidly through the end of the year.
Looks great, hopefully can try this place soon!
I’d like to thank Samantha Davis Friedman for helping pull this article together. There has been so much going on this week that I haven’t been able to get our review of the new Earl of Sandwich published… Thankfully, she was able to give this one a shove.
I’m looking forward to checking this out next time I’m in CA! Thanks for the preview!
Thanks, Dusty! I have a relative who is crazy about that era. I can’t wait to take them. It sounds great!
