Once upon a time, in the not-so-faraway land of Disneyland’s Main Street, USA, a new shopping experience magically appeared in a corner store. Tucked away along one of the walls inside Disney Clothiers (or at the D-Lander Shop, if you are in Downtown Disney) is the Disney “Once Upon a Bag” DIY experience, where guests can select from various pieces to design an accessory that is uniquely their own.

The Disney Once Upon a Bag DIY Options
The display inside Disney Clothiers has signage that details a series of steps to build your bag, but, in truth, you can skip parts you don’t want or need. For example, if you already have a bag strap you swear by, you can skip that step. Each piece is priced individually, so you can pick and choose to your heart’s content.

Chapter 1 – Choose a Bag
Totes cost $54 each. They are pretty basic aesthetically, but I suspect that is partially by design, to allow you to add your own style more easily.

Chapter 2 – Select a Strap
Straps cost $24 each. All styles are adjustable in length.

Chapter 3 – Pick a Wallet
Wallets costs $28 each. These have several card slots, a zippered pocket in the middle, and a lobster clasp on a chain to attach it to your bag.

Chapter 4 – Add Your Style
The bag charms cost $24 each. It should be noted that this price applies to the ones at the “Once Upon a Bag” DIY display, and may not apply to other styles found around the Disneyland Resort. These bag charms resemble miniature tote bags and have a zippered closure and lobster clasp to attach to your bag.

Not feeling the “mini bag” bag charm look? There are plenty of other styles around the Disneyland Resort and even more on the way for D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event (that one will be sold at the event and not at the Parks), and also for Holiday Time 2026.
And They All Accessorized Happily Ever After
And after this long (but fun) DIY journey, you have your finished bag. Here is an example of a finished product. They opted to go all-out with a Mickey Mouse theme, but that doesn’t mean you have to. This is your story; mix and match styles to find your perfect happily ever after.
