Power Up! 5 Games to Beat the Post-Disney Vacation Blues

We’ve all been there. You just returned from your Disney vacation and find the lack of pixie dust in everyday life more than a little disappointing. But now, thanks to a wave of new and updated Disney games, you can bring a bit of that sparkle home. We’ll take a look at some titles—both single-player and multiplayer—across a variety of platforms that can help keep the fun going. Power up your favorite console and let’s go!

Disney Magic Match 3D

Disney Magic Match 3D is a new mobile game by Jam City. Like many mobile games these days, the title is free-to-play but includes a variety of in-app purchases that include power-ups and in-game currency. Thankfully, spending money didn’t feel needed and wasn’t the option shoved in your face.

Each level sees you collecting different icons, which are mixed together in a jumble of other, occasionally loosely related ones. The process of collecting involves tapping the icons in the main part of the screen, which adds them to the shelf at the bottom of your screen. Once you tap three of the same icons, they are collected, and they don’t have to be tapped in a row (meaning that I could tap two pigs, one horse, and then another pig, and the pigs would still be collected).

The premise sounds simple, and it is. But add in a time limit and an increasing number of icons (which occasionally look similar and may be shown from any number of angles), and the game takes on another level of complexity.

So, what makes this a Disney game? For starters, many of the icons are Disney-themed, from Mickey waffles to Cinderella’s pink dress to roses painted red; there is quite an impressive range. Additionally, as you progress in the game, you have the opportunity to collect magic items, like the Genie’s Lamp, and eventually, even Disney characters.

Disney Villains Cursed Café

Walt Disney World’s Villains Land might not be ready yet, but you can still interact with your favorite Disney villains in Disney Villains Cursed Café. The title would best be described as a cozy point-and-click narrative adventure. The bulk of the gameplay is navigating dialogue menus and selecting potion ingredients. Add in the option to “do over” your most recent in-game day if you are not satisfied with the choices you made, and overall, it is a low-stress experience.

The game opens with you starting a new job as a “potionista,” which is pretty much a barista but with potion ingredients instead of coffee beans and flavored syrups. By interacting with “modernized” versions of your favorite villains, you can suss out what potions they need.

The process of concocting the many potions involves selecting the appropriate ingredients from your café’s cabinets and occasionally throwing in some rarer items as well. As you might expect from the imaginative Disney brand, the potions and ingredients have clever names.

At first, there doesn’t appear to be much of a plot. But, as you continue to make potions for your villainous clientele, not only do the characters interact more and more (to humorous results), but a storyline involving the missing owner of the potion shop begins to emerge.

As you progress through each villain’s story, you will be rewarded with bits and baubles to decorate the café, all themed to the character who gifted them. Each item has a fixed location, but it is fun to see these souvenirs of your gameplay accumulate over time. 

Perhaps the most enjoyable aspect of the game is the witty writing and interacting with Disney Villains in a modern-day setting. This trailer will provide a bigger picture of the banter between characters and overall gameplay (with voice-acting!):

Disney Illusion Island

Disney Illusion Island was originally released for the Nintendo Switch in 2023, but has seen several updates in 2023, 2024, and 2025, adding even more content to the game. This year also saw the platforming game release on more gaming consoles, making the family-friendly co-operative adventure even more accessible. Plus, it has various modes of difficulty, including an “infinite health” setting for platforming beginners. 

The game sends Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy to the mysterious Island of Monoth, a land on the verge of a disaster of mythical proportions. As our friends traverse the various biomes of the island, they will acquire new tools that allow them to explore previously-unreachable areas. The progression will be familiar to fans of Metroidvania-style games. And while they all grant the same abilities, each character’s items are cleverly themed to them, such as Minnie’s umbrella, which allows her to glide when there is a gust of wind. Acquiring a new tool adds a huge incentive to revisit older areas to search for now-accessible new items or routes.

The adventure shines brightest in multiplayer mode, but it is still an enjoyable single-player experience as well. And the ability for more players to hop in and out of a playthrough (no additional saveslot needed) adds flexibility to a gaming session. With several people playing, additional abilities are available (which ones depend on your progress in the game). For example, I found being able to replenish another player’s health bar with a hug to be an invaluable maneuver.

Let’s talk about the updates for a moment. In 2023, the “Keeper Up” update added the “Mavens of Monoth” time trial obstacle course areas. Then, the 2024 update added the “Mystery in Monoth” component to the game, which sees players searching for specific items all across the land of Monoth to solve a larger mystery. Detective Dash Dolphin provides a photo and general location of each clue, but it is up to Mickey and his pals to do the footwork! And finally, the “C.A.S.H.” update in 2025 brought Uncle Scrooge’s Cave Adventuring Scavenger Hunt area to the game, in which the miserly mallard enlists the gang to search for the Magnificent Megadiamond of Monoth in all-new areas. With the new consoles now added to the lineup, I would not be surprised to see even more updates in the future!

Disney Dreamlight Valley

Disney Dreamlight Valley has continued to grow since we initially reviewed it in 2022. With two new paid expansions and one more on the way, along with countless free updates, the game has plenty of content to offer. The main draw of this title is the ability to interact with a wide variety of Disney and Pixar characters and carve out a virtual life with them, all while following an underlying fantastical storyline.

There are plenty of customization options in the game. Create your avatar (select skin and color, height, body shape, etc.), design your clothes and accessories, and even build furniture just the way you want it.

And different characters offer activities and ways to feel more involved in their worlds, like baking various familiar dishes with Remy at his restaurant. As you progress in the story, more characters, areas, and activities become available for you to enjoy.

Disney Dreamlight Valley has two current expansions, “A Rift in Time” and “The Storybook Vale,” with “Wishblossom Ranch” launching this November. Beyond having additional storylines, each expansion adds new areas to explore, Disney characters to interact with, and activities to enjoy. These expansions can be purchased individually, so if one doesn’t look appealing to you, you can skip it, without worrying about it affecting your access to future content.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is playable on the Nintendo Switch/Switch 2, PlayStation 4/PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PC (both Windows and macOS), and on iOS devices via Apple Arcade.

Bonus Round: Disney Eye Found It!

We’ll move away from screens for this bonus item in our Disney gaming lineup: Ravensburger’s Disney Eye Found It! This game comes in two forms, as a card game ($9.99) or a board game ($34.99).

Ravensburger’s Disney Eye Found It! Card Game is intended for two or more players, ages 3 and older. At the start of each turn, a hidden object is revealed, and players race to see who can find it first among their hand of illustrated cards. Whomever clears their first is the winner.

Much like the card game version, the Disney Eye Found It! Hidden Picture Game features finding hidden images as the core aspect of the game. However, this time, it involves a 6-foot (!) game board and a 15-minute timer, and the experience is co-operative rather than competitive. The game accommodates one to six players, ages 4 and up, as they work together to find hidden items in different Disney worlds while traversing the game board. The goal is to reach Maleficent’s castle at the before time runs out.
