Disneyland Resort is set to welcome a new leader this March as Thomas Mazloum steps into the role of Disneyland Resort President. Mazloum replaces Ken Potrock, who will transition to a new corporate role overseeing Disney’s involvement in major events like the 2028 Olympics. Mazloum comes to the position from his leadership of Disney Cruise Line and other “Signature Experiences,” where he oversaw the cruise line’s rapid expansion and projects like Adventures by Disney and Disney Vacation Club.
While Disney executives are framing Mazloum’s appointment as part of an “exciting new era” for Disneyland, fans may be more focused on what this leadership change could mean for the day-to-day guest experience. There’s no denying that Disneyland is poised for growth, with Avatar- and Coco-themed attractions in the works, the DisneylandForward expansion, and the park’s upcoming 70th-anniversary celebration. - Attraction Reliability: Recent years have been plagued by frequent attraction breakdowns and extended downtimes. Fans will want Mazloum to focus on keeping Disneyland’s iconic attractions running smoothly.
- Lightning Lane Woes: The introduction of paid Lightning Lanes has led to longer standby waits at popular attractions. Finding ways to rebalance line efficiency will go a long way toward improving the guest experience.
- Cast Member Friendliness and Efficiency: Disneyland is known for its exceptional cast members, but noticeable inconsistencies in service have crept in over the years. A renewed focus on training and morale could help recapture the legendary Disney hospitality.
Mazloum has his work cut out for him as he takes the reins of Walt’s original park, overseeing more than 36,000 cast members, two theme parks, three hotels, and Downtown Disney. But with significant operational experience at Walt Disney World and beyond, we want to see him quickly prove that his leadership can improve the guest experience in meaningful ways—beyond just announcing more expansions and celebrations.
