Harkening back to Carl and Ellie’s childhood escapades, this mini backpack is transformed into their cardboard box version of Charles Muntz’s Spirit of Adventure dirigible. It is refreshing to see this carefree version of Carl on merchandise rather than his typical curmudgeonly persona.
The front “flap” of the children’s cardboard toy functions as a small zippered pocket. The main compartment, which also houses a sewn pocket inside, closes with a zipper pull fashioned after the Ellie Badge.
Hidden on the back is a scribbled drawing of the couple’s future balloon house.
The lining is full of imagery from the movie, like Carl’s bowtie and the Wilderness Explorer badge.
Carl and Ellie Cameo Mini Backpack ($90) – Preorder now, estimated to ship May 1, 2024
This mini backpack has a large pocket at the front, mimicking the appearance of a classic cameo bearing the image of Carl and Ellie’s house. Surrounding the “cameo” is a halo of balloons, many of which are accompanied by art of other characters from the film.
Open the flap, and you are treated to the heartwarming image of Carl and Ellie holding hands together in their living room (depending on the angle, the couple is either older or younger).
The main compartment holds an additional slip pocket. The lining is a cloud-covered print with some of the clouds shaped like Kevin, Dug, and other friends.
The back of the bag hides Ellie’s final message to Carl: “Thanks for the adventure – now go have a new one! Love, Ellie.”

Truthfully, this versatile accessory could be placed in the above category as well. It can be converted into a backpack, crossbody bag, or tote bag depending on the orientation of the straps.
The front shows Carl’s house hanging by a bundle of balloons as it floats through the sky.
The back has balloons holding a compass aloft, joined by the exclamation, “Adventure is out there!”
The lining is the same as the Spirit of Adventure mini backpack.
Dug Crossbudies Cosplay Crossbody Bag with Coin Bag ($60) – Preorder now, estimated to ship May 1, 2024
This is my favorite item in this collection. This crossbody bag is actually two bags in one.
What appears to be our good boy Dug hugging a flock of Kevin’s babies can actually be split into a single Dug crossbody bag with a separate coin purse decorated with little feathered friends simply by unhooking Dug’s joined arms.
The coin purse’s back hides a trio of tennis balls that Dug likely stole from Carl’s walker.
The main Dug bag has a hidden zippered pocket inside. The lining used is the same as that from the Spirit of Adventure mini backpack and convertible tote bag.
Additional Loungefly UP 15th Anniversary Accessories
Cameo wallet ($40) – Preorder now, estimated to ship May 1, 2024
Similar to the mini backpack of the same name, this cardholder’s main design element is a cameo-like cutout attached to the front of this zip-around wallet.
The art on the back portion depicts Carl and Ellie in their younger days, sitting in their respective armchairs holding hands.
Unzip the wallet to reveal four card slots, an ID window (with an Up house cutout), and a small zippered compartment.
Adventure Book Wallet ($30) – Preorder now, estimated to ship May 1, 2024
This accordion-style wallet is fashioned after Carl and Ellie’s Adventure Book, complete with a front cover and “spine.”
Unzip it to open the many pockets bound in an accordion style on the inside.
Kevin Cardholder ($20) – Preorder now, estimated to ship May 1, 2024
Kevin flutters her wings as she secures the strap on this cardholder. It can hold four cards on the strap side and an ID card in the window slot on the other.
