As you may have heard by now, Tokyo Disneyland’s Space Mountain is going down for a major re-theme later this year. To celebrate the current beloved version, Tokyo Disneyland is inviting guests to ride the classic Space Mountain one last time and has some great photo spots, merchandise and food to go along with it.
Tokyo Disneyland will be presenting “Celebrating Space Mountain: The Final Ignition” from now through July 31.

While the redo for Space Mountain is for Tokyo Disneyland, fans of the original Disneyland in California may want to pay attention. With a new Tomorrowland soon on the way to Anaheim as well, some of these themes might just make their way state-side…
A New Space Mountain
Tokyo Disneyland is set to unveil a revamped Space Mountain by 2027, promising not just an exhilarating roller coaster ride in the dark but an emotional new storyline that emphasizes our bond with the Earth. Visitors will be guided through a narrative that unfolds from the queue line to the ride itself, inspiring awe for our planet’s unique position in the cosmos.

Complementing the new ride, Tomorrowland will introduce a tranquil plaza designed to reflect a future where humanity exists in harmony with nature. This area offers guests a place to unwind and enjoy serene surroundings & adorned with symbolic designs that foster optimism about our planet’s future. In the evenings, the atmosphere is set to come alive with captivating lighting and sound effects, enhancing the overall ambiance. Owen Yoshino, Senior Creative Director for Walt Disney Imagineering, emphasizes that the updated attraction and plaza aim to cultivate a deeper appreciation and responsibility towards Earth, highlighting the gifts it has provided over the millennia.
Do you like the new Space Mountain’s swoopy styling? I think it’s a chic twist on the original mountain’s angular geometry —Tron meets Space Mountain.
That’s what’s coming… but there’s still time to make those final memories…
Space Mountain Final Ignition

The new Space Mountain, presented by Coca-Cola, will re-open in 2027. It will still be an indoor roller coaster themed to space, but will have all-new technology and special effects.

In addition to the outdoor theming and bunting, there will be a special classic Space Mountain-themed photo spot: Space Photo Place.
