Your MiceChat crew were there with Snoopy and the Peanuts gang for the ribbon cutting on the new Camp Snoopy…
Joining the Peanuts were members of the Boys and Girls Club and a camp counselor who led everyone in the Beagle Scout oath.
Jon Storbeck, Vice President and General Manager of Knott’s Berry Farm, officiated the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
But first, he needed a Beagle Scoutmaster hat!
In a fun nod to the theme of Camp Snoopy, Storbeck and our camp counselor cut the opening ribbon with a giant pocket knife!

Since Camp Snoopy was built with kids in mind, I had the pleasure of being joined by MiceChat contributor Rebekah Kellaway and her family to see if the new camp offerings were kid-approved!
New Adventures in Camp Snoopy
The re-imagined Camp Snoopy offers four new attractions for campers of all ages to become Beagle Scouts! To start things off, here’s a video of Rebekah’s son, Nathaniel, absolutely loving all the new rides. Nathaniel took his first ride on a kiddie-coaster, what did he think? Take a look:
Snoopy’s Tenderpaw Twister Coaster
Replacing Timberline Twister and Camp Bus, Snoopy’s Tenderpaw Twister Coaster is an adorable family rollercoaster. With a small lift hill, an even smaller launch, no drops, and gentle sloping turns, it’s a perfect beginner coaster for young kids. The layout is longer, seems improved (and definitely smoother) compared to Timberline Twister, and as a bonus, riders get to ride the circuit twice! This was Rebekah’s son Nathaniel’s favorite part of Camp Snoopy— it’s certain to be popular.
The extra attention to theming is also appreciated, with Snoopy riding on the front car and his troop of Woodstocks hanging out on the watch tower.
Camp Snoopy’s Off-Road Rally
Replacing Rocky Mountain Trucking Company, Camp Snoopy’s Off-Road Rally trades the semi-trucks for off-road Jeeps and an expanded track. The former attraction was a bit short and loose on theming, so the addition of extra length, camp scenes, a light storyline, and funny gags adds significantly to the ride experience.
Much of the extra track space actually comes from the former Huff and Puff location, which is right about where the tent above is now sitting. Both Tenderpaw Twister and Off-Road Rally are full of Snoopy’s troop of Woodstocks, which is a really nice touch to make Camp Snoopy feel a bit more like a zany Peanuts summer camp.
Unfortunately, those were the only two new attractions ready for opening day. The following attractions are delayed but set to open soon:
Beagle Express
The Grand Sierra Railroad is now the Beagle Express, complete with a brand new theme. Take a miniature steam-powered journey on your way to the Camp Snoopy Jamboree where fellow campers are decorating their cabins for a “best cabin” contest, preparing for a potato sack race, and more.
This attraction looked pretty close to finished, so I’d expect to see it very soon.
Sally’s Swing Along
Replacing the High Sierra Ferris Wheel is Sally’s Swing Along, a super-sized swing that glides back and forth 10ft into the air. Sally is frustrated with Linus, who’s stood her up again, and it’s up to the campers to cheer her up with a swing and sing-along.
Beagle Scout Acres
Taking over a large plot at the entrance of Camp Snoopy is Beagle Scout Acres, a green space where families can enjoy a shaded picnic and camp activities. The jamboree will include special sing-a-longs around the campfire.
This area is expected to open mid-summer and isn’t ready yet, but the tables and small cabins are in place for campers to enjoy. While there weren’t too many takers in the heat of the day, Knott’s did specify “shaded picnic tables” and have installed columns for hanging covers, which will be coming soon.
While we are a bit disappointed to see the upgraded Camp Snoopy Theater and Woodstock’s Air Mail being traded out for picnic tables, there is potential to make Beagle Scout Acres into something great. The area will be home to a “Jamboree,” which could become a sort of kid-friendly festival area for families.
Limited Time: Camp Snoopy (Apple TV+) Preview
Aspiring Beagle Scouts have the opportunity this weekend to watch a special screening of the first two episodes of the new AppleTV+ series Camp Snoopy inside the Walter Knott Theater.
Camp Snoopy will be shown through Sunday, June 30th. It’s a cute show for sure, it’s great to see the Peanuts gang back on TV. Although, it’s unfortunate that after Sunday, Knott’s isn’t doing anything in the Walter Knott Theater during the summer— it’s one of the few places in the park that’s air-conditioned and can soak up large crowds.
Snoopy’s Camp Store
While it’s been re-opened for a little bit, Snoopy’s Camp Store has also gotten a refresh for the re-imagined Camp Snoopy. There’s a whole assortment of new Camp Snoopy merchandise to coincide with the re-opening of the land.
This store is absolutely filled with Peanuts merchandise. With the summer season, it’s fitting that there’s an entire set dedicated to the beach.
The store looks quite like the neighboring Grizzly Creek Lodge, with lots of wood, stone, and summer camp styling. Additionally, it’s a bit larger and the layout is more organized.
While the exterior is still missing its iconic clock (it will be back), the changes make for a better experience. I absolutely love this stained glass window of Snoopy and his troop in a canoe.
Former Disney Imagineer Eddie Soto built the shop’s iconic Snoopy clock (as well as several other elements of the original Camp Snoopy) and has been sharing behind the scenes on his social media accounts. He worked under Robin Hall, who I noticed has a bunch of beautiful photos and drawings of the original Camp Snoopy on his portfolio.
Remembering the Snoopy Clock. Here are some pics of the clock in progress . Chas. Shulz thought his nose was too big so we had to graft on a new one. pic.twitter.com/htDwu6vFCh

Alongside these new and re-imagined attractions include the return of Balloon Race, Charlie Brown’s Kite Flyer, Flying Ace, Linus Launcher, Pig Pen’s Mud Buggies, Rapid River Run, and Sierra Sidewinder. Woodstock Airmail, Camp Bus, High Sierra Ferris Wheel, and Huff and Puff will not be returning.
Final Thoughts About Camp Snoopy
With new attractions now open or coming soon, the re-imagined Camp Snoopy will definitely continue to be a hit with campers of all ages.
As we alluded to earlier, there’s a lot of construction still going on. Several attractions were not open yet and some, like the Beagle Scout Acres, are a while off before being completed. There’s an unfinished structure where the Huff and Puff queue used to be and next to Flying Ace is a dirt pit that used to be the Peanuts meet and greet. It was a tad strange that outside of the opening moment for the media, Snoopy and the gang were nowhere to be seen for regular guests in their re-opened land. Of course, we expect to see them make appearances when their meet-and-greet spots are finished; they are also likely to appear in the Jamboree in Beagle Scout Acres.
We hope things don’t get dragged out too much longer.
We did find it strange that the barrel bridge wasn’t ready to go. It’s such a simple little thing.
Also conspicuously missing is Snoopy and his troop in a canoe at the entrance to the land. A new Beagle Scoutmaster Snoopy is now opposite the waterfall. The new Snoopy is cute, but the placement is a little strange as he’s looking up and all you can see is his snout.

Rebekah had some mom notes as well. While Nathaniel absolutely loved Snoopy’s Tenderpaw Twister Coaster, the wait times ballooned quite quickly due to slow loading. This isn’t necessarily uncommon for Knott’s Berry Farm, but it was difficult for the little one to wait that long. While both of the newly opened attractions have size restrictions, the Tenderpaw Twister can only sit one adult per row, has some pretty tight weight limits and seat sizes.

Camp Snoopy’s Off-Road Rally had similar slow loading, but Rebekah described this one as absolutely “glacial.” The previous attraction, Rocky Mountain Trucking Company loaded all the trucks at the same time, while Off-Road Rally loads each car individually. That means that at the end of your drive, you and your family get to sit in traffic and bake in the heat. In fact, the longest part of the ride was waiting to unload, which took over ten minutes. But this is a new attraction, so we hope the park can work on better guest flow and perhaps add some shade.
Like the coaster, seat restrictions were causing issues while loading guests— the front seats are for kids and the back seats are for adults. Plus-sized riders were being turned away at both attractions, but Rebekah’s husband, an average-sized man, was turned away at Snoopy’s Tenderpaw Coaster. That may be an issue for any Beagle Scouts who aren’t tall enough to ride by themselves.
Knott’s will iron out most of the growing pains quickly as they finish construction and optimize operations. Nathaniel didn’t pay attention to any of it, otherwise having a blast riding coasters and driving his mom and dad around in a Jeep his size. Ultimately, that’s the seal of approval that matters.
